    Thanks.

    • -2

yes you can if it is purchased for business purpose.

      • +18

Thank you, yes very serious business purposes. It's for the office.

    • +6

      Classic!

  • +8

And there goes another job outside Australia !
Sorry, I would rather pay that extra $10 to an aus firm knowing that it helps a local small business…

    • -7

NCS is an Australian based company and its ABN number 79 616 406 065

      • +8

        From the website:

"NCS is Accounting firm operating from Sydney having its back office operation in India. All the work done by qualified accountants and is monitored by Australian qualified and experienced CA and CPA’s. NCS thoroughly follow and practice Australian Standards."

Just having an ABN doesn't mean the company has Australian interests at heart.

        • Practise Australian Standards… didn't know Australian Standards apply to aus accounting work

  • +2

His team also provides services such as BAS

Is his team based in Australia or outsourced ?

    • -7

NCS is an Australian Accounting firm having office in Sydney CBD and branch at India.

      • +4

outsourced it seems, office is just a virtual office

        • +4

          Yep, I think I'll pass on this…

    • +2

Hmm if they aren't even registered for GST themselves what hope would you have that they can lodge your BAS properly for you? I lol'ed at their non-GST registered status.

  • +1

Thats cheap. Better than dicking around trying to do it yourself.

  • +1

    What's their ABN?

    • ABN number is 79 616 406 065

    Hi,

I looked up the stated Tax Practitioners Resistered Board
    Number of "25396716" at:
    https://www.tpb.gov.au/search-register

This lists a Tax Agent in Nunawading, Vic.

    Is that correct?

    • Yes correct.

      • +4

        So, looking at:

        https://www.tpb.gov.au/registered-tax-practitioner-symbol-gu…

Where a registered tax practitioner company contracts with another entity to provide a tax agent or BAS service or tax (financial) advice, they must use the company’s registration number in conjunction with the symbol, not the registration number of any other registered tax practitioner associated with the company.

        So, isn't your "use" inappropriate?

    • +2

At least they can be bothered finding a number or two. The same can't be said about the other "accountant" that gone and done a couple of AMA's in the forum. I couldn't locate their registration number based on company name or that rep's name.

      • +3

this… what's with the double standards? The previous so called "tax professional" who ran numerous AMAs about year end tax had a similar vague/generic website, provided no details of qualifications, had no physical office address, only contactable via email and did not list any tax agent number, yet no one questioned their qualifications or legitimacy of the service they were offering…The same scrutiny should apply all posts of such nature.

  • Almost every large organisation is either already or looking at identifying getting a resource pool from offshore and we all consume their product/services proudly. Why when it comes to small businesses following the suite we are so judgemental?

    • -4

      Agree

We pick any financial institute or Telco or Super markets where we deal daily for our needs, work is getting done collaboratively. Even leading forum where we rely on huge bargain and savings may have their servers or some tech functionality outsourced.

      • +2

I've put this through every translator online and i'm none the wiser…

        • +1

I think OP says even OzBargain may be getting something done overseas.

    • +3

Corporate greed is the known evil we all have to deal with every day. Avoid it as much as possible, it comes down to what choices we make. Do we want the same fate to our small businesses ? And then do what, migrate to India for jobs ? C'mon mate, get real…

They don't have to if they're earning less than $75k (unless you're an Uber driver) but on the flipside, if they can't be bothered managing their quarterly BAS even for a nil activity statement then there's always a possibility they can't be bothered doing my tax properly as well…

  • +2

Is the price $39 for a tax return with a rental property and capital gains in shares??

  • +6

So I read some of the Testimonials.

Most of them don't seem to have surnames… strange.

    This guy "John" said:

"Our company has been availing the services of NCS since long. We have been fully satisfied with their services and they have provided us with a holistic approach to all of our accounting needs."
    John

Given the new “stand-alone English test involving competent reading, writing, listening and speaking” announced by the Immigration Minister, do you think this Testimonial would pass the test?

What does "since long" actually mean?

    … and availing, WT*?

  • It wouldn't be long till a so called "accountant" who will do your tax for $9.95. Or simply remembering to get your tax done by 31 Oct through MyTax for free then you don't need to pay anyone.

  • +1

So is "Navkar" or "NCS" an actual Member of CPA Australia?

    https://www.cpaaustralia.com.au/Account/FindCpa.mvc/FindCpa

    • +3

Can't find anything relevant under NUNAWADING or 2000.

  • +3

Hmmm tl;dr: questionable TPB number, questionable CPA status, virtual office address and your personal info including TFN going offshore. Yep a real quality product, will buy again A++++++

  • +1

He worked at Arrium, the company that went broke owning billions and is currently under administration? Additionally, Arrium isn't a multinational. It's definitely singly in Australia.

One hell of a resume your "friend" has.

    • Technically not true, arrium did own moly-cop which had operations in the states and South America

  • +5

How is this a bargain? Isn't this an ad?

I mean what if someone else can provide the same service at less than 39$ (even 1$ less)?

And to top this, you can do this for free at ATO site.
Any special benefit/service that you can provide for the money that nobody else can provide?

    • +1

MyTax is supposed to make things even simpler than e-tax from yesteryears and the whole pre-filling process will only become more comprehensive to the point that most people won't need to see a tax agent to lodge their tax return. Gets a little complicated when there's shares/investment properties/SMSF involved of course.

As with what's a legitimate deduction, it's 1) common fkn sense 2) does it feel reasonable to you. Oh by the way, getting a tax agent to lodge it for you doesn't mean you're off the hook if something goes bang (say I'm a grad working at Westpac on $80k a year, bought a Rolex 116610LV for $11k and claimed that as a deduction) and gets pulled up by the tax man, no you're still FUBAR'ed - you signed the declaration.

  • +2

such a scam, you realise more than half the tax return is auto filled lol…

  • +4

    DODGY SCAM

Tiny outfits like this rarely have appropriate data security arrangements in place, and identity fraud is one of the fastest growing games in town.

Not even God (i mean the ATO) has all my details - like hell i'll agree to have all that sent to Gujarat.

What that means is whether this is a legitimate service or not, i wouldn't use it.

For people who have simple tax returns, using the ATO's MyTax online form is easy as pie.

Employees will have most of their info prefilled. The ATO even prefills bank interests.

Doing your own BAS is also easy as pie as long as you keep a simple spreadsheet along the way.

The satisfaction of doing your own taxes also brings joy. We are all ozbargainers here, why spend $50 when you can easily do it yourself.

TL;Dr Easy to do your own taxes if you're an employee or sole trader.

You will likely need an accountant if you have more complicated needs. In that case I would rather work with an Australian business that I can call you or visit when I need.

    • +1

Correct, as long as you don't need to claim anything crazy then it's so easy. I have a single holding of shares that pay out dividends and even that is prefilled.

  • +3

With pre-filled information doing ITR through myTax is both easier and cheaper (Free).
not to mention even if you lodge though an accountant if you get audited and found that you over claimed deductions or provided incorrect information you are still responsible (not the tax agent) for any penalties and interest charges.
