They have a good return policy. Bought some last time, tried on a trip to the US and returned. The noise cancelling on a plane was very average even for the price. For background household noise though they were good for the $$$. Set expectations accordingly.

Price is off by a whole $1. $39.99 it is. Retailers always round it up to $40 at the checkout.

Built-in rechargeable battery ? Does this mean they are cordless, if so how do they connect? @Novousp commented not Bluetooth.
Battery is to stop the noise getting in - a circuit, not provide Bluetooth etc.
Just picked up a set of these this morning - they seem pretty good, are well made, come in a nice case, and the NC works pretty well too. Definitely a bargain for $40.
