So what's worth buying? Absolutely nothing, belongs in the forums at best.

  • dam i brought a airfryer on their website recently but havent picked it up yet now with this 20% it works out cheaper. i cant claim the 30 day price guarantee as it states "*Competitors must be nominated Australian based businesses and exclude eBay. " will they let some one cancel order if it hasnt been picked up?

    • Yes, ive done it at officeworks

  • +6

Lmao.. They think we are all idiots.

  • +6

Pricing above the RRP and then promoting a "sale" should be banned. Disgraceful practices by TGG and any other eBay store that chooses to do this

TCL 40D2900F 40"(101cm) FHD LED LCD TVfor $399 after discount seemed like a good deal to me, have been looking for a 40" TV for a little while.

  • +1

Commenting so I can neg. You're not good guys at all!

  • Most Sony Samsung TV already out of stock :(

  • +1

Is this the first ebay promo owned under JBHIFI? Prices will be jacked up from now on.

  • +1

    Price Jacking. No deal.

  • +3

Just checked Netgear d7000. Was $230.20 delivered from computer alliance 20% ebay. Good guys with 20% is $284.26 delivered.

Checking the price history was $264.06 before the sale.
    Bad guys
If I get a spare moment I'll be lodging a complaint with the accc.

Edit: ACCC complaint lodged. Only took a few minutes.

  • Thanks TA for the posting but it seems from researching TGG website, eBay and comparable sites that many of the prices have been inflated.

There has to be something someone can do to catch this? So many buyers would fall into this 20% off trap..

  • Any good deals on over-ear headphones? Going travelling & have no real idea what to buy

  • +3

It seems after JBHifi bought out TGG, they are doing this dodgey tactic. TGG who were owned by previous mob never did this… Someone report this to ACCC. Those guys need a pay rise so will have no qualms about whacking a big fine on JB-HIFI+TGG group…

  • +1

    Price fxxked UP.

  • +1

nothing good about this deal same old sh…..

  • +2

Code should be ‘NOGOOD’. Price jacking galore.

  • Hmm… The actual item I am after is the same price as TGG website. So it's a bargain for me (more at TGG than HN, but 20% makes it cheaper), but for the pure fact of price jacking on other items, I'm going to hold off on voting on this deal.

  • Bugger! Been sussing out the Samsung HW-K360 Soundbar and would be $160 with this (best deal I've seen). Can't see any option for click and collect though…

Edit: Just checked website and it is cheaper on ebay page.

  • The GoPro Hero5 Black Battery is $35 (standard price), with the code it's $28, free click & collect. That's good.

  • they would become the second DICK SMITH soon!

  • +3

Jacked up the price before discount. Doggy AF. haven't shopped in GG for a while, but bought from Harvey Norman more recently as they do price match.

    • -1

Doggy? Do you mean they bend you over and…..

      • +2

ha typo. dodgy if you know what i mean

V6 Dyson Slim Handstick $319.20 ebay sale after 20% discount

    • +4

      Thanks man

      • +1

pleasure.. i am looking for a dyson and nobody is really giving a good deal at the moment, so this really annoyed me

        • +2

I have a Dyson DC25, I do not recommend you buying one, you should look at buying Bosch. Twice of the suction power, less noisy and overall better quality, much more user friendly. You can go to Harvey Norman, they might have sales on, if I had the money again I would buy the Bosch. :)

  • +6

Has Anyone reported to ACCC yet?

  • +2

Prices jacked up before sale, really :/

  • +3

    Price jacking is so wrong.

  • +4

Disgusting price jacking, +1 to ban from Ozb and other sellers that do the same

  • +5

We need to report this to ACCC collectively to stop this continual practice

  • +1

    Price jacking

  • +1

  • +2

    Price jacking, what's the point.

  • +1

    Tv prices shot up.
    Ebay fail

  • +2

Ban TBG from OZB for massive price jacking!

  • +1

Lol, got excited but it was short lived. Nearly everything I saw has either increased in price, or mysteriously disappeared.

  • +1

clicked into a TV ready to buy, but there's no 'buy' button….prob jacking up prices as we speak

    • +1

      LOL

  • +1

LOL. Was hoping to get the LG split system with this discount. Turns out it was much cheaper with the same discount a year ago. Price jacking indeed.

  • +1

I can understand removing items. People gotta make a buck. Anything else is not on though.

  • +1

Not sure if I should waste my first Neg on the deal. Came up with that spooky warning!

    • +4

neg it. We need to show and send a clear message to ebay and TGG that this dodgy practice is not on!

    • +14

      Lodged.

I hope TGG cop a hefty fine!

      • +4

        What do we report?
Anyone want to come up with the best description to put in the 'consumer issue' area so we can all copy and paste?

Need something that is clear and concise.

        • +10

I'm sure it's not amazing, but here's what I reported:

There is currently a 20% off promotion on The Good Guys (TGG) ebay store. These sales occur quite regularly, and a lot of the retailers are known to increase prices in anticipation of the sale. This is plain misconduct and should be punished. It is easy to spot; for example check the LG OLED55C7T TV on their Ebay store -
          http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/NEW-LG-OLED55C7T-55-139cm-OLED-UH…

And then their actual website: https://www.thegoodguys.com.au/lg-55-inches139cm-oled-uhd-sm…

They have increased the price $200 to make more money from the sale, instead of passing the savings onto customers. If in doubt, you can also check the price history of the item to confirm it was indeed previously listed for the lower price: http://offer.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewBidsLogin&item…

Happy to provide other examples if needed.

        • @fLaMePrO: Hmm. Based on your example, the price was changed sometime before 1st June as per the price history. So unless they were informed about this offer before that date, I don't think the price has changed just because of this offer. I do however see the price difference between their Ebay store and their website.

        • @Harshad:

That is true, it was actually the first one I tried so admittedly I didn't look too hard. I don't think it's unreasonable to think that they'd know about the sale in advance though.

    • +5

      Just lodged a complaint.

  • +10

I'm in for a group report to ACCC

  • +5

Fake sale. Upvoters on this deal should also be banned from ozbargain.

  • +1

i could have sworn the pana Tz80 camera was there last night pre sale?? now gone altogether?? …..Grrrrrrrrrr

  • +2

The HP 1HP12PA 13.3" Spectre x360 laptop went up $200 the moment this 'deal' went live! Seems cheaper to skip the middle man 'eBay' and buy directly from them on their website.

    • +2

Or Price Match and avoid TGG altogether.

    • As I pointed out in a comment above, the prices seem to have changed on the 1st of June. The last price change of this laptop was on the 1st of June too based on the revision history and not the moment the deal went live. Although the good guys website lists it for $200 less, the Ebay store listing comes out to 1760 after the code and hence cheaper than the website listing. You could argue that it is not the 20% discount that they claim it as.

  • +1

    Dat ratio doe

  • +2

    Price Jacking…

  • +5

Agreed that this practice is unacceptable, lodging a report too.

  • +3

Love this community. Total price jack

  • +2

I'm guessing TGG must (at least partly) pay back Ebay, hence the price jacks

  • +4

Well done The Fraud Guys taking the consumers for a ride again… utter BS with price hiking then 20% off… why try and fool the customer???

  • +2

bullshit price jackooffs . should be banned.

  • +2

This price jacking business is a total discrace! I'm really surprised someone like A Current Affair have not done a story about this, that could well put a stop to this rubbish!

  • +4

This one will get more negs than +

    • +2

      Let's hope so!

  • read this

They might have not actually jacked up the prices!

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/315693

  • +3

Price jacking , negative vote has been given.

  • +3

    Very disappointing…fake sale

    • +5

a lot of the prices using the code are still cheaper than elsewhere

That's not the point, the point is that if its not 20% then DON'T SAY IT'S 20%. (period)

      • -5

What is not 20% off ? give me an example.

        • +10

          Lenovo Tab 3 A7-10 16GB - Black - $89 in Good guys website

Same item, in Good guys ebaY : $99 !! Here

After applying 20% code on eBay, the price is $79.2 which is 11% off (their regular website) NOT 20% off.

          bcollrocks reported

Same is the case for Moto G5..Website has it for 249. Ebay has it at 299.
But still turns out to be better than website price with 20% off.

After applying 20% code on eBay, the price is $239.2 which is 3.94% off (their regular website) NOT 20% off.

Edit: You asked for 'an' example, I gave you two. That's OZB spirit - Enjoy :P

          That's gold :)

        • +5

What is not 20% off ?

Dyson Big Ball Animal - it was $699 yesterday, now it's $899. Price after discount now is MORE than yesterday, not to mention stupid $52 delivery

        • @RockMeLoOn:

You are wrong, the deal is 20% off from their ebay store, did you even bother to read the t@c's ?

  • +2

Is this a form of price fixing? Anti competitive behaviour, knowing that the 20% ebay discount would come, then fixing the prices to their advantage?

Isn't this illegal according to ACCC?

  • Wow Ozbaragin strikes again, perhaps go to their HQ and protest with signs would be better, might actually get a faster result than the slow ACC.

    • That's not the ozbargain way.

Literally every TV I've looked at is 'Out of Stock', but magically 'In stock' on TGG website.
