  • Chinese version of Windows 10? Can it be switched to English interface? And is keyboard chinese too?

    • +1

Best to reinstall windows, you can change language but not everything will be in english. See image https://des.gearbest.com/uploads/pdm-desc-pic/Electronic/ima…

Keyboard is standard US english, scroll down on deal page and you can see photos.

this airbook can freshly install English windows 10 subject to purchase new license key. It can fully English or any other language as you wish to purchase based the windows version. Alternatively, you could download language pack, such as English US or English UK for windows, but some of interface will be changed to English and some will not change. The keyboard is fully English keyboard and NO Chinese character.
Pros: Fast and powerful airbook, fully metal design and well built. SSD expansion{additional M2 slot). Great battery life and USB-C quick charger
Cons: No touch FHD display only, no light adjustable backlit keyboard, no Micro SD slot, no slim display bezel(bottom and top) and no dock station or battery expansion

Why do you need to purchase a new key if a legit OEM licence is supplied with this PC?

Seems others have managed to re-install using digital entitlement on Windows 10: https://www.reddit.com/r/Windows10/comments/4w4ua9/windows_1…

        • someone reports it is need activation code after few days usages of English version installed via recovery ISO.
Sometime you can have the Windows code for around $10 deal in Ozbargain here…personally I haven't try it.
For the price this airbook is great value for money.

  • Is this worth it for a 6th generation CPU?

I ask because I really want to hold out for the Surface Book 2, but that might still be months away and I'm chugging away on a 2012 Samsung Series 9 which is getting really slow… so I would be open to buying this for the mean time and then ditching it later on. Although this sale is also probably to clear stock for the newly announced 2017 XiaoMi Notebook Air right? Might just wait for that too…

Appreciate any thoughts from the OzB community :)

If you're thinking of buying a Surface Book 2 then buying this should be loose change in comparison. It's totally worth it at the price point!

    • I reckon a full reset or reinstall of windows on your samsung will go a long way towards bridging the gap.

I'm in a similar spot, was keen on a Surface Book 2, wanting something I can use a pen to draw with but not absolutely critical. Lightweight, zippy, good screen for video, x265 decoding, and a keyboard I can type on. Have started to consider chromebooks.

Can it be bought anywhere else besides gear eat for this price? Gearbest has a shocking reputation both personally and on ozbargain

    • +1

For you maybe. I've never had a single issue with them and I've bought about 30 items from them.

Anyways back to your question. Yes GeekBuying or Banggood which is where I got my mi notebook 12

        https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/213053

No it's not just me, and there's plenty more posts with gear best issues count yourself lucky

And yes I know it can be bought elsewhere but the question was for this price

        • Not currently but the others I bet will match. Banggood and GeekBuying and GearBest tend to match each other when the other deals end. Pretty much what happened when I got my mi notebook was gonna go GearBest but price went back up. But Banggood had just updated it's price to match.

Not sure of the price overall for this one might drop further since the new notebook air 13 with fingerprint sensor and 7th gen Intel just went on sale.

Yeah but it's like every single issue is some silly twit who hasn't read the shipping ETA when they ordered.

You may want to hold off your purchase for the newer model. Further price drops expected.

New Xiaomi Mi Notebook Air 13.3

The new model comes with a fingerprint reader, embedded in the corner of the trackpad, as well as an internal hardware refresh. The older 6th gen Core-i5 processor has been swapped for a 7th gen Core i5-7200U with a maximum clockspeed of 3.1GHz. The GTX 940MX GPU has also been traded up for a GeForce MX150.

The new model is actually already out. It is on the chinese xiaomi website.

    • Looks good. How much?

      • +2

Almost AUD$1500 delivered…. a whole new price point for only 10%-20% more powerful device.

        • Graphics card looks like a relatively big upgrade

        • storage downgraded, CPU upgraded and fingerprint reader added for NEW model which is same as older model starting price…
For the price of this deal is cheaper than buying in china MI website directly.

        • +1

@maxall: storage capacity may be downgraded but they have put faster SSD even in the older models. From about April this year onwards. From pm951 Samsung to pm961 - therefore top write speeds going from 400MB/sec to about 1GB/sec. Prices gonna be hell expensive as they always are for Xiaomi wait a few months and it will be all good.

        • @adrianhughes1998:

What would you say is the best way to follow the price of the new XiaoMi? You're saying it's bound to go on sale in a few months and that's when I should snap one up right :)?

        • +1

@JokerCandy: that's what I've noticed in general for these laptops etc and most Xiaomi products. I can't give you an exact date, but only way is to either keep an eye here on OzBargain til someone posts one of the price drop deals, or check prices yourself, or subscribe to their newsletters they email you with their deals.

Prices will level out, for example at moment they have the Mi 12 with the newer processor and 128GB SSD at nearly a 1000 bucks, and the one with 256GB SSD is $300 more expensive - that's a total ripoff for no increase in RAM or anything else 'cept the SSD capacity :////

I bought after a week of the post from Gearbest. $888 including4 express dhl shipping. Gearbest dispatched quickly and received in Wednesday while I ordered on friday night.. But I actually missed courier on Tuesday and had to reschedule. Comes with Chinese windows (SL version is unusable") But the laptop activates to windows 1'0 home upon reinstall (doesn't activate Windows SL though"). Google to create boot media and drivers. happy with the purchase
