  • Hey OP, please put the price in the title.

    • Done, Thanks :)

I'm curious why this is a bargain?
The inflated 'normal' price and 'discount' does not mean that is what they ever sell for.

Various similar panels all over Ebay/elsewhere at this price point.
Can even get 160W folding for $179.95: https://www.vicoffroad.com.au/sport-outdoor.html/solar-panel…
(current offer is $10 off purchase over $100)

    • Panels from vicoffroad are over rated.
I bought 250w folding solar panels from them and found that at best I got 100-120w output in direct sun.
When I brought this up with them, their response is to ignore my claim and offer to send me a free light, what a joke!
Did some research about vicoffroad and it seems I was right, found this.. specifically mentions them:
      http://maxray.com.au/solar-panel-wattage-output-calculator/?…

There is a calculator on this page, they say this panel can only be 199w max. Not the 250 they claimed.

What are your thoughts, thinking to go Fair Trading

      • Welcome to ozbargain BeamingJim, nice of you to drop by to run down a company as your first post. Given sockpuppetting etc etc is rampant on the internet, it does tend to make one question if your motives are really true here

        • Hi RockyRaccoon, I do understand what you're saying. But in all fairness if you've been ripped off wouldn't you be motivated to also post and warn others? I don't make a habit of posting negative remarks but I feel i have enough information gathered to say that this is really not fair. Should I have done this another way?

  • what do people usually do with these? how useful are they?

    • Folding panels like this are/were mostly used for camping with lights, fridge etc.
More recently blanket or flexible type panels tend to be more portable and hence easier and more useful - but more expensive.

far cheaper elsewhere on ebay with same discount code

    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/New-140W-Solar-Panel-Folding-Kit-…

    $142 plus 5%

No bargain here A little search will save you much more than the OPs post

Ozbargainers dont fall for the percentage off crap. Its the final price that determines a bargain.

Sorry I wanted to remove this post but cant do it (Newbie, and was my first post)
Thanks for letting me know. I will be more careful before posting on OZbargain

      • It was late last week one was going for about $1/ watt reduced by some crazy over inflated RRP. Not a bad price but not a bargain for a no name brand.

  • this offer does include a better regulator, andersons clips but otherwise what you would expect to pay for a similar unit.

  • Do you need an inverter or do these deals include one?

    • They have a 'regulator'for feeding into low voltage small capacity batteries. These are not designed for feeding into the grid.

      • Thanks.

This will be cheap rubbish that will perform poorly and end up as landfill.

Be warned that Mytopia is another trading name for AGR Machinery and Edisons. Any good reviews are generally false or left after the product arrived and not after usage.

    http://www.productreview.com.au/p/edisons.html

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/search/node/Mytopia

Their website is full of phony reviews or ones left when the product arrived. This is one review that sums it up - http://www.productreview.com.au/p/baumr-ag-bcx720.html

    Review from Whirlpool

"I'm sorry to say you have bought a pile of junk. Bought one of these off that mob and it was the biggest pile of rubbish, the plastics broke the motor and shafts would not lock into place and the pull stater broke on its second start and they refused to sent me a replacement even after I sent a picture of the broken unit, edisons are well known to sell junk and there support is not much better, good luck."

"It's worse. Alias 'agrmachinery' and 'mytopiastore'. They are scum and protected by the fleaBay rating system.
The Search tab on the left will find real experiences… keeping it local.. then there's google."

Edison's even posted a fake review in the thread…

    https://forums.whirlpool.net.au/archive/2503724

And of course the master AGR machinery thread with hundreds of negative experiences that are all genuine.

    https://forums.whirlpool.net.au/archive/1283863
and then read whirlpool and ozbargain, eg: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/286720

  • I got a 120w from them for $135 last eBay promotion
