    • You can choose the power level in the app which in turn will increase noise levels as well

  • bestforapple, Thanks. The Mrs got hers from you today. She is very happy. Well packed too.

  • Keen to buy one but COZZIE does not work for me…any clues

    • just bought one and it worked fine for me. add to cart, then add promo code

      • Still get error message:
        Enter code: COZZIE
        Apply
This code can't be applied to your order.

        • I had to have an ebay and paypal account and apply the code last

  • Bought from this deal https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/310371. As soon as I got it I took 1.5 years old (3 year Warranty) Aldi Sterling one for refund of $199.
Its a brilliant machine and I'm very imoressed with the ability control it with 4G mobile internet. Few of my friends were very impressed with it too and just send them this link to buy.

    • How does it compare to the aldi ?

My battery died in just under two years and was going to repair, but love the look of this unit.

Edit- bought this deal.. Been eyeing it for too long. What did you say with your return to aldi? No issues?

      • -3

I told them its not working anymore even though it was working perfectly except the brush was worn out. No issues at all.
Can't compare to Aldi's one at all. It is lot better in many ways except it does not have virtual wall

        • +1

Would have been awkward had they tested your claim in front of you, as they often do in HN in my experience.

        • @Shiny Mew:

Would have been awkward had they tested your claim in front of you, as they often do in HN in my experience.

ALDI clearly don't but people that lie like this just drive up the prices for everyone. As they won't be able to resell this he's effectively stolen $200 from ALDI.

        • I told them its not working anymore even though it was working perfectly except the brush was worn out. No issues at all.

All the ALDI customers thank you for your fraud which pushes up prices for everyone, amazing that people will post online about stealing like it's OK.

        • -2

@Maverick-au: how is that stealing? Admit that I lied but stealing…????
Tell that to someone who actually steals and goes back asking for refund.
As if youve never lied in your life!
they should have checked it then or could have told me to send it for repair, they didn't have to refund and I wasn't expecting a refund at all, Nothing wrong trying. I know they did that for good will and I thank them by shopping there more than I used to.

        • +1

          @ashikk:

I don't think Aldi need your type of custom, do us all a favour and don't "Shop" there.

        • -1

          @ashikk:

how is that stealing? Admit that I lied but stealing…????

At best you committed fraud, look up the definition.

Tell that to someone who actually steals and goes back asking for refund.

How is this any different to you stealing the vacuum? Both ways they have lost $200.

As if youve never lied in your life!

Have I ever lied to defraud a business? No.

they should have checked it then or could have told me to send it for repair, they didn't have to refund and I wasn't expecting a refund at all, Nothing wrong trying. I know they did that for good will and I thank them by shopping there more than I used to.

Justify your immoral and frankly illegal actions anyway you like. How long will it take ALDI to recoup that $200 from you? And how does this make it right? It's ok for me to steal from Coles the same account of profit they make from me?

  • Just bought one! I was reading somewhere, that I don't need to use the app for the vacume cleaner to work.

    • +1

no you don't. just use the home button to start.

      • So what's the advantages in using the app?

        • +1

With app you can control it like playing game it has joystick!! to control where you want it to go, pause it, send it to dock, control the speed of the cleaning eg max, boost, quiet etc.see how much battery charge it has etc etc this is all I can remember now.

        • @ashikk: Thanks for the info. It might be worth using after all.

        • +2

@ashikk: set schedules is the main benefit of app. Will also notify you if any issues eg it's stuck and show you cleaning paths

        • @zorrt: Excellent, thanks. I Will definitely use now.

        • +1

Scheduling so it goes every day while the house is empty (people at work/school etc), remotely starting it (it has no remote, so you either press the button on the vac itself or start it via the app) - this will also work wherever you have an internet connection so you can start it from work or while you're out, remote notification of errors (bin full, tangled brush etc) and remote restarting if need be, monitoring of details (% life remaining on filter, brush etc) and probably a few other things I've forgotten.

Got the Vaccum 2 months ago for $50 more than current price. One of the best purchases ever made. Use it alternate days. Works like a charm.
    Pros-
Great battery life. Finishes 4 bedroom + Lounge + media room in one charge.
    Less noisier than Roomba
    Much cheaper than Roomba.
Great cleaning algorithm. No wasted motion.
Good suction- works great on carpets. Moves seamlessly from floor to the carpet
Slows down as it approaches obstruction. Does not bumps hard into things—> no scratches
    Cleans well around chair legs.
Can be operated through app remotely. App gives location of cleaner in the house and sends a message if it gets stuck or bin full.

    Cons-
Cleaning of corners could be better
Bin size- Could be bigger. Guess this will be a problem with all robotic cleaners. We need to empty it once for the whole house.
    App when starting is slow.
    No local warranty support.

  • Hi guys, do you need to charge these before use? Mine arrived today. Having a bit of trouble as nothing is in English and I can't find an English manual online. I'd there anything that needs to be done before first use?

    • +1

Yes, you need charge first, but it wont take long.
1.Press on the power button on the unit, wait for the wifi light on the robot to show up blinking blue.
2.Download mi home APP from IOS app store or Google play store. Then you can add devices, please choose mi Robot vacuum cleaner , it will set up easily.
3.You can choose english voice after you connect the vacuum with APP.

      • is there a trial period on the product? if i get the product and if i am not happy within 30 days can it be returned?

      • Just an update: ig anyone has s8 phone or bluetooth 4.0 possibly that it can't pickup the vacuum abd need to use another phone. I remeber someone mentioned about thus issue somewhere.
I had an S4 and was able to install app and it found the vacuum and rest is history.
When done. You can go back to your s8 and continue as normal as the info of vaccumm is now knon.

    • Mine came with 40% charge and I didn't do a proper charge before first use. As soon as the app was installed I sent it off to do its thing. Scan the qr code in the book, there one. It will grab the app for you. After that just choose English for the language and the rest is piss easy. It's a very simple to use app, I'm very impressed considering it's a Chinese product.

    • Download the app and look @ this article to change the language on the unit: https://www.androidcentral.com/xiaomi-mi-robot-vacuum-has-en…

  • How is this better than the cheaper Aldi one? I bought one few years ago and still going well (I use a Dyson for my weekly clean). By the way I also recommend this seller, bought the Mi Box recently on a Sunday night and it was delivered on Tuesday (Auspost stuffed up so didn't technically get it until wed).

    • A friend has the Aldi one, complains that it always gets stuck on his kitchen stools. I have similar stools and this one has no issues. Apart from that I know nothing else about the aldi one.

  • Great Thanks OP!

  • The battery on my irobot roomba purchased 4.5years ago has recently been playing up (20min on time)…
Time for a new one…. thanks.

  • +2

2.43am.. can't sleep. Go to OzBargain.. buys a Vacuum.. sigh.. great deal OP.

    • +2

You won’t regret. Best value product for a long time.

      • I agree. I wonder if roomba and the like are accessing their prices. Surely this boy will impact their profit.

  • Can the battery be easily and cheaply replaced?

    • Battery is us$69 on aliexpress. Don't know how easy or hard to replace.

  • Is it smart enough to avoid falling down stairs? We're thinking of getting one and alternating days upstairs and downstairs, but don't want it going the way of a lemming and jump to its death.

    • Yes

      • Thanks for that, now to talk to the bank and see what she says. :)

  • Would this be able to traverse and effectively vacuum a shag rug?

  • Oh Mi Robot reminds me of roboguy and makes my stomach turn :(

  • Cam anyone advise if it comes with aust shape power cable or you need an adapter?

  • Anyone know how these compare to the Neato? I did like how they cleaned right into the corners, which obviously this one would have trouble with.

The overlapping back and forward cleaning path algorith also worked well, is it a similar cleaning path with the Xiaomi?

    Thanks!

  • The price is over $400 now, is that correct?

  • Bought one of these.. I dont know why… actually its because I hate to vacuum… as much as I love my Dyson V8… sometimes I just cbf.. hopefully this robot will do the job…

  • This seems like a better deal. It's slightly cheaper and gets sent Express..

  • Seems like a very average machine in terms of performance and efficiency: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5vJ5HjZyxgY

Would be suitable only for minimalist hard-floor homes occupied by incredibly time-poor residents.

    • Runs fine over my rug which has black parts on it, and as someone said before (or in another thread) you can disable the stair sensor if you are having a problem with black areas being detected as stairs. I have a large 7 bedroom house (admittedly all hard floors) and it's already saved me hours of vacuuming in the week I've had it. The algorithm is outstanding.

  • Thanks had no idea which robo vac to get on a budget but all the positive feedback from users here fills me with confidence.

  • Do they issue tax invoice ?

  • I can't find where to add the COZZIE code. I've entered my details, and payment details, Im faced with a confirm and pay button. I still haven't had the option do at the code yet

    • Before you pay, you should have coupon window at the left bottom of page.

      • Thanks. I dont think it worked on 'pay as guest'. Im registered now, seems to work

  • Do you need to use pay pal with this code?

    • Ok. It needs a paypal account

  • Aside from putting duck tapes, is there a setting to disable the cliff sensors? It wont vacuum my dark coloured rugs.

  • They send me delivery estimation is wednesday , but i haven't received yet. Also there is no tracking number. Have anyone received their order yet?

    • I ordered on Sunday, got a tracking number on Monday but the status hasn't changed from "processing" since then :(

I live about 8 k's away from Glen Waverley where it says they ship from.

    • Can you contact us by ebay message, team will follow. You should get tracking at my eBay.

    • +1

Same here. Ordered Sunday, issued with a tracking number and notified it should be delivered early this week, i'm only a couple of suburbs away from the apparent dispatch location. Got issued with a second shipping notification (they must have sent another update to Australia post) which postponed the estimated delivery by a couple of days however the parcel has never been collected from the seller.

It's possible they don't actually have the stock and are just issuing tracking numbers until the stock arrives.

      • +1

Just an update to this, mine has just been picked up by Australia post and should be delivered on Monday. Really wanted to have it to play with on the weekend, but at least it's coming!

        • +1

Same here. I'm happy with the sellers communication, it's hard running a business juggling hundreds of despatches in a very short time, such as during eBay sales. One week isn't an awfully long time to wait.

      • Final update. I got it on Monday and set it all up, it's done one run Monday night and couple of automated run through's while i've been off at work for the day and I honestly have to say that this thing is amazing. I vacuum reasonably regularly, but this thing is picking up so much extra stuff, I've had to empty three full loads from it so far, I know its going to save me so much time sweeping and vacuuming up dog hair, well worth the cost!

    • I get exactly the same. Received tracking details on Monday with an estimated arrival of Thursday, and my Auspost tracking details haven't changed from "Shipping information approved by Australia Post".

I messaged Gearbite on ebay and they told me Australia Post systems were not up to date and they definitely sent it (this was on Wednesday), but when I called Australia Post yesterday, they said they had received tracking details but received no physical product.

What the Australia post guy did say is that online retailers receive a batch of tracking numbers and create the delivery record with AusPost, but then when it comes to shipping the item, sometimes they realise they have run out of stock. Not saying that this has definitely happened in this case, but with 886 sold so far, it is a possibility they're waiting for new stock to arrive in and were expecting it any day now.

      • Sorry for any inconvenience, customer order more than Our expect, we have around 20 units short for Sunday's order. Then we change ebay listing with the handle day to 4 business days. We have stock ready yesterday afternoon. You should receive update today. Please let me know if you need any help.

        • If that's the case, then it's a little disappointing that when I queried this through eBay messaging, that you were adamant it had been sent on Monday (and blamed Australia Post systems) rather than being honest

        • Hi, Sorry for that happen, some team members did not realise that, as hundreds units was sent on Monday. As we change the handle time to 4 days at Sunday. Still have customers order before we change the handling day, that is our mistake. we did not sort this out, we will keep improve.

  • I'm on the same boat waiting for local delivery which usually takes 1-3 days.

Something has gone wrong, no movement for a week with the provided tracking details.

  • Finally received it today, once I figured out the servers and wifi passwords ect, I absolutely love this robot.
The amount of dust and fluffy and dirt it has picked up today is astounding. The tracking from Aust Post was shocking, but now that it's here all is forgiven.

  • Any cheaper than $385 ?

  • +1

Received mine last week, finally got around to firing it up today.

This thing is amazing! Actually cleans quite well (which is probably pretty important for a vacuum cleaner), but it's the automation that makes me the moistest. I mean you can remotely turn the damn thing on and off, and watch it vacuuming your floors and mapping out your rooms in real time! We're living in the future.

Only downside is emptying the tiny catch tray, but it's easy to do and I'd imagine once it's running daily it will keep the floors clean enough to be emptied once or twice a week. Right now there's literally months of dust on the floor… Who vacuums a workshop office? Not me.

  • Got mine today, week and a half delivery not bad. It's running now and I've been sitting in the couch amazed at how fat we've come lol seriously, this shit is the future lol

  • Loving mine too, finally. Delays were a bit annoying, but the price was right.

Anyone worked out how to disable stair sensor?

    Edit-

Dodgey half working idea, loose tape the sensor -

  • Did everyone else get a US style plug supplied?

    • +1

      Yup, was told

For safety reason, we stop to provide travel adaptor. If you do not have Converter adaptor for plug. You need to purchase an Australia Converter adaptor at Bunnings or JB-HIFI for under $10.

      • +1

A friend told me you can carefully bend/twist the pins with pliers and get them to fit an AU gpo pretty easily.

  • There's a firmware update for the Mi Robot too, in the app 'general settings'.

  • For a little vacuum cleaner, it does a great job. The only problem I'm having, is that it can't find its way back to the dock. The mapping goes funny when near the end of vacuuming the house.

    • That's a real problem. It should be able to navigate home. Tried a firmware update?

      • I updated the firmware when I first connected the robot to the app. It knows where the dock is but because part of the map has somehow got corrupted, it loses it way back. If I pick it up and move it to a place where the map is good, then it has no problem going back to the dock.
I might try a reset and see if that might fix it. I can't find anyone else having this problem.

        • It creates the map every time it starts, so you're saying that the same part of the map always gets corrupted? Is it near mirrors or something?

        • @f4te: Yes, it's in the same part of the house. There are no mirrors or reflective surfaces that I can see. It seems the mapping starts to get corrupted when finished vacuuming and ready to dock. Or maybe it could be something to do with that room and it just happens to be last place it vacuums. I'll have to watch it carefully when it goes to vacuum that room tomorrow.

        • +2

@telby: You could try moving the dock to another room so that the order in which it cleans your rooms is different, that way you could either see if it's the room or something else. But yeah, no problems here with mine. It's able to go back and charge half way through and at the end.

        • @f4te: Thanks for the tip.

  • +1

Does anyone else just randomly scatter crumbs on the ground to give their little robot something to do during the cleanup that night?

    • +4

I scatter crumbs to find my way home
