180

James Squire Limited Release The Hop Father Celebration Ale 345mL x 24, Available online and in-store.

Please note: best before date is 8th August

This limited release James Squire Hop Father Celebration Ale has a rich full-bodied character from the use of Australian malts. An initial sweetness on the palate gives way to a cleansing bitterness with the use of Simcoe hops providing pine-needle, fruity aromas and earthy/spicy notes. Inspired by brewer/fan favourite Hop Thief 6, Hop Father uses the same feature hops with tweaked malt base & overall hop bill.

Yeah coming up as $40 here too. Still a decent deal at $40 though but there is something beautiful about a case under the $40 mark…

I remember the good ole days.

  • Price is now $40 … I refreshed page and the price increased (Brisbane store)

  • $35 for me in Melbourne

    • $35 for me as well at Bundoora BWS

  • $35 in Geelong (Bellarine store)

  • $40 Gold Coast

  • $40 in Perth but still a bargain, thanks OP.

Any beer that's 11 months old is basically undrinkable. That's why the US has a 3 month use by date on their beers. I wouldn't pay $10 for this.
It's only a bargain if the product is still good.

If I drink it all tonight then will it matter

What? plenty of beer is drinkable after 12mths. What do you think Coopers ales have a best after date? Because its not pasteurised.
The oxidisation & light strike (when using non-briwn bottles, sunlight reacts with the hops to give it a skunk (sour) flavour.)

Apparently in Oz/NZ the best before dates on pasteurised beer is 9mths

See Tim Coopers response to the queation
      Q. Can you tell us a little about the “Best After” date on Coopers bottle

I drink almost exclusively all-grain homebrew, and find a lot of brews don't even start to taste decent until it's 6mths old. 12mth golden.

  • Was out off stock at DM Casula when I did a C&C for this last week (even though the website allowed me to order). They offered me 150 lashes instead.

  • Looks like once you sign in with a members login it changes to $35.

    • Not for me :(

      • Another guy here just signed up, then refreshed a couple of times and it switched.

Something seems really iffy about the 35/40 thing, but it worked for me only a few minutes ago.

Sorry to anybody it doesn't work for.

  • this beer is REALLY bad not fresh. tastes off. had a bottle of it when they dropped the price last time and it was bad then. …fresh this beer was great.

wouldnt waste any money getting a slab of it on the short expiry

  • The almost-expired Crownies were likely more drinkable close to their expirey date, however a hoppy beer like this one should be when bottled and fresh … will give it a miss even at a few $ off.

    • Crownies from the Cellarmasters deal? Mine were an expiry of late August. Tasted fine to me; but I'm sure anything would taste fine after a dozen of them.

  • Thanks Op , got some ,the best before says August 18th on them.

  • I would avoid a hoppy beer that is 11 months old. Could taste fully deteriorated.
