Tonight I have negotiated a good deal on a wireless multimedia keyboard with an inbuilt air mouse and touchpad.

It has backlit keys that can change to blue, red and green and is plug and play with its USB wireless receiver. This keyboard is suitable for use with many devices including Android TV Boxes, Smart TVs, Consoles and PCs.

  • Does this work for mibox3?

    • +3

It will work but the receiver will take up the only usb port on the box.

      • +1

You can use a USB hub with the Mi Box to get around that.

        • +1

I get that, but it needs to be a consideration. If you are going to need a usb hub you need to build that into your costing when it is less elegant than buying a bluetooth keyboard to use with the box instead.

        • @Fiximol:
Oh, is there any recommended bluetooth keyboard for the mibox?

        • +3

@XucCac: none that I can personally recommend but there are bt versions of these types of input devices. Perhaps clear can get a deal for us :D

        • Any good deals on USB hubs? lol

        • @Fiximol:

I am also for a BT version so I can connect it to ps4.

        • @XucCac: Logitech k400

        • Can anyone recommend a good cheap USB hub for the Mi Box 3?

    • Likely, but would occupy the USB port.

    • +2

Yes it works. These keyboards are perfect for Android TV boxes.

    • +11

Is there a chance the track could bend?

      • +6

        Not on your life…

        • +6

          my hindu friend

  • +2

Sweet. Good timing. I really do have to stop taking sugar in my tea, it makes the "A", "Z" and shift keys hard to use when they dry…

  • Thanks OP! I have a similar model without backlight, but struggle in my cinema room as its pitch black, this will be amazing!

  • +1

Dont really need it but bought one anyway I'm sure it will come in handy.
    Thanks OP

  • How do you turn the light on?

    • FN + F2 toggles the backlight.

      • But once toggled will come on with any keypress. Exactly as you would hope. Very convenient.

  • Hey clear, If you negotiate a deal does that mean you are associated or are you just associated with Geek Buying?

    • +8

Associated with GeekBuying. Good mates with a lot of their staff.

  • +1

@Clear can you confirm whether this one has AirMouse function as this does not mention on Geekbuying website?

    • I'll confirm with Geek when they're back tomorrow as it definitely has mouse functions.

      • +2

        No need, I've got this.

    • "Highlights
      Air mouse function."

      Second dot point.

      • Thanks mate, but by checking many websites and YouTube reviews, none of them so far mention Air Mouse function.

        • +2

I have an earlier revision (isn't backlit) and it's just a mouse pad/track pad. Drag two fingers up or down, to act like a scroll wheel, and the rest is just usual mouse trackpad.

        • @RichardSydney:
Thanks mate. Although I have a full wireless keyboard/trackpad combo from Logitech and Microsoft, prefer something compact.

Are the trackpad and key press responsive? I also have a slightly similar product (bought around $30 also from GeekBuying) which didn't not work well.

        • @willx: I can't vouch for this one - but the one I have isn't too bad. It's not ultra-high quality, but considering the price…

I find the scroll-wheel function doesn't always work perfectly - it's nowhere near as good as a laptop's trackpad - but it's good enough.

I see on this keyboard it has a back button and a context menu button - both of which my one lacks (you have to press Win-Backspace to get back, and I used a keyboard remapper app to add context menu to one of the Function keys).

          HTH

        • +1

          @willx:

I have 2 of these, both work great, keys are responsive and have a nice click to them when pressed. I do have dramas with 2 finger scrolling tho, but that might be me whose rubbish. theres page up/down buttons so easy to get around.

          LED backlight is briiight.
Comes with its own rechargeable battery and BT dongle.

        • +1

          @The Monk:

Really? Geek doesn't mention it's got a BT dongle in the package.

Package Contents: 1 x iPazzPort Wireless Keyboard, 1 x Wireless Receiver, 1 x Charging Cable, 1 x English User Manual

        • +1

          @xiangtan: USB wireless receiver.

        • @Clear:

Thought so. Does Geek have the Rii Wireless Bluetooth Backlight Touchpad?

        • @xiangtan:
          1 x Wireless Receiver
Or did you think that was for listening to the news ?

        • @xiangtan:

Yeh posted it at 2am after coming back from pub. I have a different model which was 15 bucks on special which has BT.

        • @The Monk: Funny that. I posted this deal at a bar 1000km from land. Know which model you purchased with BT?

        • @Clear:

          KP - 810 - 21BTL

  • Bought one even though didn't really need it as the cheap logitech combo I have is working fine with the raspberry pi 3. Would this really take up to 2 months to receive plus handling time?

    • I'd like to know about delivery times too. I can't be bothered waiting 2 months.

    • Typically takes up to 30 business days with free shipping. Average time is 3-4 weeks.

  • MultiPazz

  • Just want to confirm does it work with Sony smart tv which is not android as i have a similar to this one and that didnt worked.

  • +3

    Everyday bargain, everyday buy. facepalm

    Thx very much OP!

  • Thanks - bought one for my Kodi/PI3

  • thanks OP, Bought one!

  • +1

Bought too…. so didn't need it lol

  • Does this work with Apple TV?

  • Does this work with xbone?

  • Nice deal! Might be hoping for a bit too much, but is there any chance of getting a discount on the Xiaomi Mijia Camera 1080P Smart IP Camera

  • Does it work with xbox one s or xiaomi tv box?

    • +1

works with anything that supports USB HID class.

Xbox doesn't do mouse input, although rumors are that microsoft is working on it. I doubt it'll ever happen however.

  • Thanks OP just bought one for my android box

  • +1

This is pretty good for $10 bucks. It gets detected as a normal keyboard / mouse peripheral in any device, so you can connect this to pretty much anything that supports USB HID class protocol and it works just as intended.

  • Does this work with Sony bravia smart Tv's? Cheers!

    • Android?

    • I've tried a similar one (rebranded as vontar) and it hasn't worked on any of the three sony's TV's I've tried.
The dongle isn't recognised. Probably better chance with the BT version?

  • Thanks.

  • +2

Im not entirely sure if i need this but because its a good deal (based on ozbargain consensus) i bought it… thanks op

    • +1

      I did the same =/

  • Bought one of these for about this price on AliEx/eBay but it didn't have the internal rechargeable battery d'oh; takes two AAAs instead so no big deal, but just that plug and charge convenience would've been nice.

  • Do these have scroll on them? I bought a keyboard for my smart TV but its pretty useless without a scroll function tbh

    • You use two fingers on the mouse track pad, to stimulate scroll wheel - up and down.

  • Will this help me if I'm using a chrome cast?

    • no

  • Out of stock! Op I'd like to buy one, just remember I've got an old android stick it will go with nicely (MK808)

  • Damm, wanted to get one too. Guess I was too late again..

    • +1

      More stock allocated.

      • Cheers, grabbed one

      • +1

        Just bought 2. Thanks.

  • Just purchased need to login and applied code

  • Thanks OP. Got one.

  • Got one. Thanks OP!

  • Thanks OP, just purchased one.

  • Thanks OP, ordered one. We'll see what it works with.

  • how dos this compare to the Zapals one ?

  • I bought one 2.4GHZ AirMouse and Keyboard but it doesn't work with MiBox. Any recommendation for a AirMouse/Keyboard compatible with MiBox?

    • Just buy one of those all in one remote/keyboard/air mouse things on ebay.

  • "Battery type:

    2 x 1.5V AAA battery ( not included ),

    800mAh lithium-ion battery ( included )"

Why are there two battery systems in this device?

Mine only has a lithium-ion battery.

    • The idea is that if the battery goes flat you can swap it out for AAA instead of waiting for it to charge.

  • Is there a mic in it to use with the NVidia Tv

    • No mic.

  • Don't buy this
wait for Lenovo 500 Multimedia Controller

    • +2

      from a quick google

"The device weighs about one-third of a pound, and will be available in March starting at $54.99 USD."

Kind of aimed at a slightly different price bracket

  • +1

Was waiting for a bargain on Logitech K400 for several months; but this will do the job nicely… Just bought one… Thanks OP

  • Almost bought one of AliExpress for $16. Thanks OP

  • +1

Bought one when deal was posted. Just stumbled upon a cheaper one on tomtop.

    https://m.tomtop.com/tv-dongle-accessories-1304/p-v2818.html

Appears to have same features as this one, just $2 US cheaper.

  • Was gonna buy one, then I saw 20-45 business days shipping.
    HMM.

    That's a far cry from Dx's 11-20 business day shipping. I think I'll pass.

  • I was also going to buy - applied coupon and the price reduced, then tried to check out via PayPal and at the last step the price was back up - no thanks.
Lucky I was paying attention. I'll shop elsewhere thanks.

    • Click Proceed to Checkout rather than Checkout with Paypal as it lets you use the coupon and confirm details before paying with Paypal.

  • Received mine today. Ordered 14/7. Paid a couple of bucks more for registered air.

  • For those who have received theirs and think it's a DOA. Make sure you remove the battery and take off the tape on the battery connector.

  • still waiting

    • Mine arrived on Monday. Normal post.

  • Mine arrived last week. There are 2 issues.
    1. It doesn't really support AAA battery. It doesn't have any metal connectors in the AAA battery slot.
    2. I don't think it has Air mouse function. It is not mentioned in the user manual nor the packaging. Anyone knows how to get it work?

Other than above 2, it functions well.
