GONOW20
Subject to the restrictions set out in these terms and conditions, the 20% promotion code may be applied to a qualifying stand-alone hotel (not a hotel booking in combination with any other product such as flight + hotel, or flight +hotel + car) booked online with orbitz.com between July 10, 2017 12:01AM CT and July 23, 2017 11:59PM CT, for 1 or more nights for travel between July 10, 2017, and December 31, 2017. Qualifying bookings instantly receive 20% off at check-out through the use of the promotion code. Customers are limited to two redemptions of this promotion code and up to a maximum savings of $150 per booking. After those two bookings, this promo code will not be able to be used again, even if one or more of those bookings is cancelled. Exclusions may apply and most major hotel chains are excluded. The promotion code cannot be redeemed against taxes, supplier fees, cancellation or change fees/penalties, administrative fees or other miscellaneous charges, which are the sole responsibility of the customer. Discounts are not redeemable for cash for any reason. Promotion codes are non-transferable, not for resale, and cannot be combined with other offers or used for any booking previously made. Any attempt at fraud will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law. Void where prohibited, taxed or restricted by law. Orbitz reserves the right to change or limit the promotion in its sole discretion. Usual booking terms and conditions apply (see https://www.orbitz.com/p/info-other/legal.htm) and all bookings are subject to availability.

If you use the code, book on the app as this gives you more orbucks

Orbitz with a code is usually VERY good, and so now I have to go through all of my hotel bookings and see which are better with this and also can be cancelled. Thanks OP.

And make sure to use your Citibank card or 28 Degrees card for no currency conversion fees (transactions are in USD with Orbitz).

    • +1

Just for everyone's benefit rather than the cards being listed individually…

The following cards have no international transaction fees:

      Debit:
      - CitiBank Visa Debit Card ($0/yr)

      Credit:
      - 28degrees Mastercard ($0/yr)
      - Bankwest Platinum/World cards (From $0-$270/yr depending on card)
      - Coles Rewards Mastercard ($89/yr)
      - ANZ Platinum Rewards Travel ($225/yr)
      - Commonwealth Platinum/Diamond cards (From $249-$349/yr depending on card)

Let me know if I missed any.

      • FYI, Citibank is Mastercard now.

      • Seems I missed the Macquarie Platinum debit card $0/yr (mentioned by nightelves below)

      • International transaction fee is one thing to avoid, but also skimming on the exchange rate is another. I can assure viewers that Citibank Plus has neither.

  • Or bankwest card, also no fees

    • or ANZ Reward Travel adventures for no additional fees ;-)

      • +1

        or Macquarie Platinum transaction account

    $150 limit .. lunch money .. :-( .. !!

    • Can't you book individual nights then when you arrive at the hotel get them to consolidate the booking? This will allow you to save even more.

      • -1

Probably not a bad idea, might work but I'd rather wait for a serious discount offer .. :-) .. !!

        • +1

$150 off / 20% off already low prices isn't a serious discount? OK you wait for the better offer while I grab this one :)

        • Lunch money .. :-) .. !!

  • I find when booking accom in USA Orbitz has the best prices anyway, so this is a great deal

  • Anyone knows what hotels, most hotels like Hilton and Sheraton are not included. Thanks

  • +2

Hotel chains are always excluded with coupons. Any hotel that is independent should be ok. There are many, many hotels that fall into this category. I always stay in non-chain hotels for this reason.

  • Tried looking for Nelson Bay for this weekend and its expensive compared to booking.com / trivago / ent book.. I am assuming its good only US bookings?

  • I have used it all through Europe and in Australia as well. If you find a cheaper price elsewhere, you should book it through Orbitz and then claim a price match guarantee. Make sure you join their program first. They will match the price and give you $50 toward your next booking. Just make sure that you pick a cancellable rate in case it does not work for some reason.

  • Thanks - was about to make a hotel booking via Expedia AU with the 12% off Mastercard deal. This deal worked out $80 cheaper for a 3 night stay.

  • When you go to checkout it asks for ZIP CODE, and you have to fill it in? do I just enter any US ZIP CODE? this shouldn't affect anything should it?

    • +1

I entered my Australian post code and didn't have any issues making a booking

  • haven't find any place to putin, promo code

    • +1 Haven't got a clue where to enter GONOW20
      :'(

      • Where it says "Enter a coupon or promotion code", just above where you put your credit card details in.

Or if you use the app, it's at the bottom of the screen when checking out. By the way, using the app is preferred as you'll also receive a higher amount of Orbucks back for each booking (5% on the app vs 3% on the website).

  • +1

the code will only show up if the hotel is eligible. Just above the payment information on the last page you click to enter a coupon

I used Orbitz quite a fair bit this past year. If you use their App to book, you will get 5% back (Orbucks) that can be used towards your next booking straight away. If you use Desktop/Mobile site, you get 3% but you can normally get another 2% cashback from topcashback, ebates etc. Hotel price in their App is sometimes different from desktop/mobile site. It's best to check both.

  • The reviews of Orbitz are terrible. Are they definitely legit?

    • +1

They're legit. Don't worry, every hotel booking website will have negative reviews (Expedia has the same score on trustpilot).

  • If you can wait to get your discount back till after your travels I think this https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/317791 is a better deal. For just over $330 spent, you get close to 30% off. Way more hotels too.

  • Anyone signed up for multiple accounts to use the coupon more than 2 times. Any issues other than losing out on your Orbucks between accounts?

  • I think its hard to beat this code if used on a 'best deal' sorting in Orbitz and paying with a non-fee card.

(The other deal seems to have exceptions even if your spend is over $330. eg. Vibe Hotel in Sydney).

Booked Rydges Sydney airport for Thursday night yesterday after seeing this coupon. Today got a notification from SkyScanner that price of the hotel dropped!
I sent through a price promise claim to Orbitz, they replied within 1hr with approval to refund a further $20 + $50 credit for next time! Love these guys already!
Total cost for 1 night $179 Aud + $50 voucher
Online Rydges same room is at $224 - Great deal

    • I have no idea how it happened but I booked a twin room instead of a double on a no refunds booking.
They managed to change it over for me at no cost.
I was happy with them, until I just discovered the promotion had expired as I was about to make another booking…

  • Damn it - the website is saying its expired already…

    • Same here, I was just about to finalise my booking :(

      • Yep - I booked for half my trip and was just about to book for the other half only to discover it cut out early on me.
Damn it - I was about to spend around US$500 on a hotel in Vietnam.

  • The deal ended at 11:59PM CT. Actually they pulled it earlier than that as my code applied but didn't go past the payment.
