thanks TA got my first one delivered on friday. Not a bad pen. I am a bit of a pen nut. Will definitely get a another at this price!

  • +3

Thanks TA, got one, great pen for the price.

    • +1

whats your opinion when compared to alphagel?
I lost my alphagel when there was a deal for these a month ago which is why I now have one.
I guess alphagel is $20+ more but curious as to whether what you think.

I still miss the alphagel but can't justify the price lol.

      • +2

Not as smooth as the uni alphagel, but it's good enough that the Xiaomi pens will replace my uni pens for everyday use as I also can't justify the high price for uni pens when deals like this are much cheaper. Btw you can't really say that alpha alpha gel is $20 as you're mostly paying for the grip, it takes standard uni jetsteam refills which are much cheaper.

        • I mean it would cost me 20 because I lost mine. But refills are cheap and last a long time!

  • +2

These are awesome pens for anyone who hasn't tried it, fairly heavy but they are really good. Thanks for the deal TA, I got my like 5th one.

    • if you mean the pen's weight. Its actually not a bad thing when you are trying to right. Depends on how the pen is weighted though.

If you mean the ink is heavy then that is a different issue. (But don't think thats what you mean)

      • Yeah I'm referring to the pens weight, it's not too noticable but it's probably the heaviest pen I've used, still awesome however!

      • +4

These mustn't be good for Arabic then ;P

      • -1

Gimli, doweyy has actually used the pen so your generalisations are meaningless.
And yeah, the pen is weighted at the top so it feels awkward to move around.

        • I've used the pen too. it's definitely not to heavy
What I mean is that a lighter pen is not necessarily better.
Alphagel is heavier but nicer to use for example.

      • +5

when you are trying to right

I don't think any pen is going to help with that.

        • +1

          You are write!

        • @Yummy:

          I'm always left :(

    • I lost 2, this one and the new unibody aluminium one :( So sad

  • +26

Can't believe I paid $9 for this when it first came out. I should have my ozbargain membership revoked.

    • +6

reported you to the mods. Expect a few months in the penalty box.

      …JK

TBH. It probably would sell for $10 in officeworks if it ever hit the shelves.

      • +2

        Phew…….

You certainly can't get a "weighted" pen for anything near $10 in OW that's for sure. Sadly, like most people, I rarely hand write these days. However, that won't stop me buying another at this price.

  • +1

    Thanks TA

  • +1

Bought the bat spinner without problem and this one didn't work again.

Saw the FIXED PRICE coupon 0.89 but subtotal still $4.32.

    • +1

Finally VPN back to office and ordered without problem.

I think must be something to do with my IP from MyRepublic.

  • For $1.18 it was too good to pass up… Thanks OP :)

  • All my Gearbest orders to date have arrived completely squashed - had to bend my Mijia ink cartridges back in shape which were almost U-shaped.

    • +2

You should try flinging them and see if they come back to you.

  • +6

Am I the only person who never buys pens… everyone seems to give them away and if you are ever in need plenty of custom pen places will send you samples for free to your place of work.

… but I bought this just to see what the fuss is about.

    • +1

Yeh I never buy pens. Take them from any companies that have a pen tin. Hotel (maid carts), airlines wherever I have too many now.

  • +1

Bought one, Thanks OP! I always like a nice pen so looking forward to receiving this one to see how it writes :)

  • +2

just bought and don't need it, guess it just releases my frustration from missing 3x on batman spinners

  • +5

Can we get a refill pack deal as well?

  • Does it really "Make writing more smoothly and freely"?

    • +2

I got it from the last deal and don't like it at all. I'm not sure if mine came faulty.

Just personal opinions so please be friendly, the build quality is great, however, the pen tip is too sharp, hence you cannot write as fast as possible like most generic ball pens so the writing is not smooth.

If I try to speed up the writing, the pen tip is shaking and unstable.

I know it uses different inks compared to most generic ball pens, but it's annoying that the ink is quite slow to dry.

    • It does the opposite for me. That's because it's fine tipped. It's sharp and will dig into the paper more than a medium point.

  • +1

Bought one to see what all the fuss is about :)

    • +1

Apparently it comes with the XiaoMi AppStore…

  • Checkout won't load for me, just me?

    • Same thing happened to me as well but it worked after reloading a second time.

      • Cheers, that worked for me.

  • Getting this code does not exist message.

Worked, needed to be signed in

  • The coupon is ADDING $0.89 to the price.
    What is happening?
    On mobile.

    • Happens to me too, but I am using a PC on chrome

      • Worked on Firefox.
First time it deleted the coupon after PayPal login then said expired.
Then I tried again 2 minutes later and it seems to have worked.

    • Had the same issue using chrome on android. Used stock android internet browser app and it fixed it

  • Ty TA!

  • +1

I just do not need this pen!!! But I bought one.

  • What refills should be used?

  • Ozbargain's favourite pen.

  • Ordered one just to see what the hype is about. RIP other 100 pens I don't even use.

  • Code has expired.

Edit: is working again! more added?

  • +1

All gone? :( The Code you entered has expired.

    • +1

Thanks. Saw on mobile and booted up PC and was gone. Then clicked apply on the code a few more times and it started working again :)

    • +1

Thanks TA. Managed to order one

  • +1

FFS, building a shrine to a pen!!

  • +1

    Just got mine.

  • Brilliant pen, thanks TA

  • +2

    Not the perfect pen.
It's heavy, the ink smudges, the tip is pointed so it digs into the paper.
I wouldn't recommend it, but it's better quality than other pens in the same price range.

    • Sounds like the bics are better quality.

      • I signed for a parcel today with the guys Bic gel pen and it was fantastic. Really smooth and free flowing.

        • Yeah those are awesome. And the print looks nice and even unlike this one.

        • Agree. They are a nice smooth pen.

I have a box of bics to go through, though i picked inbred of these up and i usually write with a parker, 1 with a black balk point and the other with a gel

  • +1

I dont even know why I got this… thanks TA !

  • +1

    Thanks TA. Got one.

  • +7

I have this pen right in front of me. It weighs about as much as a smartphone.

It is a fine tipped pen, which means it's not going to write very smooth, and will dig into the paper. If you're not a fan of fine pens (I prefer Medium), buyer beware.

Also, ink is only available in black.

I don't see anything special about them. The writing doesn't even look good. But I'll let you see that for yourself.

I already have 3 of these and regret buying them, so even though this is a great price for any pen, I'm going to pass because I don't need a 4th.

I don't speak all that highly of them, but if you don't have one already, I would still recommend trying them out, at this price, why not? Maybe you'll like them more than I did.

EDIT: This pen is not recommended for lefties. You will smudge everything you write (do not even bother writing on glossy paper with it), because it's a slow drying pen. But I imagine being a lefty sucks at everything except Tennis.

  • +3

Today I found $2 on the street, so why not!

  • Is this a nice pen to fiddle with and swing around the finger?

  • +2

    code expired

    • Yep

  • This code increases the price by $0.89 even though it states "fixed price coupon".
I cancelled the check-out to try on another browser but it seems to have expired now.

    • Check your order history, you may be much and you only need to pay.

    • The site has some bug with Chrome.
Use other browser with the site in future offers.

  • Tells me it has expired

  • I recommenced one of these instead and just leave it sitting somewhere.

1k sold in 2 hours ozbargain doesn't mess around hah

  • Hey guys, I missed this one unfortunately. Are there ever any deals on 4-colour pens? I don't mean your common $2 Bic from Coles. In my work I frequently need the different colours so I'm always on the lookout for a quality 4-colour pen. I currently have 2 decent Artline pens, Officeworks have a great one for $20 but it's well, $20… Guessing the short answer will be no but just checking :)

    • I've never seen a deal on a 4-colour pen on Ozb. But you could always try the search function.

      • There's been a few over the years. Usually Bic and usually from Coles. A few years ago Bic upgraded their design so pens were marked down from ~$2 to about 50c. I bought about 20 that day. But with kids they eventually get broken or lost, we have about 2 left today.

But for work there are better options, since I write so much it makes a difference having a better quality pen. I'll probably just man up and buy a premium one sometime, when you use something so much it may as well be a good experience.

        • 4 color pens are too thick and never of good quality.

        • @lostn:

Agreed they are lower quality by default jamming 4 different ink tubes in there and all suffer from rattling but that's not to say Bic is as good as multi's get. I use the Artline Flow which is more or less in line with the Bic but has a better feel to it ($1.99 @ OW) - there are others from $10 - $50 which I'm looking into but couldn't justify pay too much as I travel from site to site frequently and it'd really hurt to lose a $50 pen somewhere lol.

Another option is 3-colour pens if green isn't important. It's the least used colour for me but I still use it. Thickness I don't mind and it's come to feel normal for me. Pure quality isn't as important as convenience carrying just 1 pen, that said I would like better quality than Bic :)

FWIW, this is the pen I've been pondering buying. It's uses 0.7mm nibs but you can change to 0.5mm for finer work, has pencil and eraser too (4+1) which personally isn't too useful to me and would no doubt add thickness but that's not a problem - I have big clumsy hands anyway. I might bite the bullet soon and try it.

        • @Click_It:

I got one of the jetstreams in Japan. They are OK but still prefer the convenience of a pen I can throw in my pocket without worrying about it coming loose so I use a uniball signo with cap

    • I use the Bic fine 0.7 multi pen with grip. I find it to be solid and has lasted me for quite some time. It is grippy and has a good heft to it. My favourite inexpensive multi pen.

      • +1

Thanks for the heads up I'll give that a go. Interestingly I think I found the same pen for sale ($2) at Big-W It doesn't have "Fine" in the name (could be a Big-W naming error) and looks pretty close, maybe a slightly older picture of the same pen? Its 0.7mm and even comes with bonus refills so that's 2 pens in 1 almost.

        • They also have Jetstream 3 in 1s for $5 :)

Only 1mm though unless you change refills.

edit: Seems normal price. My bad.
edit2: Found customisable multi pens too. You can have rollerballs, ballpoint or mech pencil refills in them!

        • @fryandlaurie:

RE: Uni Style Fit 3/5 - Very cool! I haven't looked into gel multis. 1mm is pretty sloppy in a gel so that'd be the first thing to go for me.

And jeez, a 5-in-1? I don't mind thicker pens at all so I'll probably buy both. Just gotta decide on the nib, I would have thought 0.38 mm to be to fine but just saw a youtube review on another gel pen 0.38 mm and it looks pretty slick. It's that or the 0.5mm for me. The 0.28 must be too fine for general use I think.

The Pen Addict reviews the Uni Style Fit 3 here seems to rate it well other than the cheap aesthetics which I can live with.

  • For those people who are looking for the actual pen. Here's the link and code.

Got my pen today, but it's smashed :(

  • Mine just arrived it didn't smashed but the box is wet but the outside package didn't.

The pen is inside the plastic cover seem so far OK.

  • +1

Mine arrived today, perfect condition, thanks TA!

  • Mine arrived on Wednesday 16/08.

It's a nice pen, but not a big fan of it. Ink takes too long to dry, though didn't mind the weight.

Favourite pen is the Uniball Jetstream Colour (I think it's also known as Sport) 0.7mm. Dries super fast. Ran out of ink and don't want to be spending $5 per pen!

Currently using a Pilot Easy Touch which is pretty good too, although not as good as the Jetstream.

  • Still waiting for it, probably lost

    • Still waiting on mine too. The refils arrived before the pen

      • +1

Yeah received last week, your one shouldn't be too far away

  • Ok so i got mine today.

Looks very nice and sleek. Has a good feel as not to be slipery.
Weight seems to be too far back for my liking and the pen is fine which is not my fav but ok to write with….. i guess ill purchase more if they are this price or the carts.
