    Thanks Spackbace.

BTW, I think we've met before, do you have a cousin named Lapscock?

    • +18

No I don't, but I met your sister that had that nickname. Maybe you're confused between the 2?

      😃

      • My sister's name is Scabette.

        • +1

          So jv is your BIL?

        • What a wonderful name for a girl!

        • +5

          @Diji1:

Thanks, it runs in the family.

          My brother's name is Scabies.

    • I always seem to have to click "offtopic" to catch up with your insights.

      • +1

I can see why that would make you Angry, Chicken.

  • Sweet deal! Ordered.

  • got one

  • thanks for the post

  • Nice ! I have been waiting for these to reduce prices. Got one :)

  • Also got one, great deal.

  • ordered one thanks

  • +11

Without trying to spoil the deal for anyone; why would you want one of these?

    • Because of the VGA camera.

    • +3

Keep kids amused. They are a bit of a fiddle to drive as you hold the tablet/phone/whatever and use like a steering wheel. There slight lag too.

Was a fiddle to get them working. Have to install updated firmware on the drone and it won't work if you do it via the app. The way to do it is download from parrot and update from computer via USB.

I bought one each of the night one for my kids. Good value for fifty odd dollars. Wouldn't want to pay the sticker price of $274.00!!

    • Because it is 80% off

      • +4

It's not a bargain if you don't need it.

        • +1

          Saved myself $290 + $49. Bargain!

        • Yeah, these don't look like the kind of things that would get a lot of use from me.

The MJX Bugs 3 i've got is an entirely different matter.

    • Smuggle Weed, not to be taken out of context

Why do I even refresh this site while I'm at work. Why am I $49 poorer than when I last refreshed this site. Why am I refreshing this track n trace link.

    • +3

I am in the same boat. Not sure if I needed this. My kid will be happy for sure and I have make sure I hide it from my wife though.

  • +3

Got one. What to do with this?

  • Spewballs…. missed out

    • It's still available?

      • Ah my mistake, had another item in the cart which was no longer available.

  • Looks like a lot of Parrot MiniDrones are on sale

    • Cheers changed main link :)

  • +9

Remote control cars are drones now?

    • +1

      only if they're self-aware

  • Thanks OP - bought one and will now try think of what to do with it :-)

  • Don't know what I just bought I don't know what to do with it but I just ordered one. Thanks Op

  • Do I need this?

  • +2

    Got one. Looks fun.

  • Which one is the best deal? I’m interested in the cars and the flying drones

    • +1

The cars have the highest % discount off RRP, so I think the TukTuk is the best deal as it's the cheapest of the cars. It also goes almost twice the speed of the other cars.

Don't quote me as it's just the quick research I did before buying. something you should try sometime.

      • Thanks!

      • They go pretty fast, especially on wooden floors. Great for harassing cats. The jump is pretty decent too

  • +1

bought one for my kids birthday.

    thanks spackbace

  • +4

lol, why are people getting negged for buying them?

    • Yeah no idea :/

  • +1

Cheers. bought a Tuktuk. Christmas present for one kid sorted.

    • +1

You should buy only one present and make your kids fight for it.

It will make them better people when they grow up and they'll thank you for it.

      • +4

the other one will be getting the controller

        • +1

          You're a good parent.

  • Awesome stuff.
Just ordered 1 for me and 3 for Christmas presents. Cheers for the heads up.

  • bought one for my 2 catze

  • +2

In Bangkok, the tourists ride real tuktuk, with speed up to 2 mph during peak and can't zigzag.

    • There's also TukTuk Patrol there and TukTuk videos. Google it.

  • Perfect for the nephews 10th birthday this weekend - cheers OP

  • +3

I found that if you buy from the factory scoop JB hi-fi online, most of the stuff is either repacked refurbished or was on disolay. I bought an xiro drone and 4ch Uniden cctv camera. The drones box was all crossed out and the serial numbers were crossed out and the boxes weren't sealed. And for the Uniden camera, I received it with a giant bright yellow repack sticker which had a dead camera and dead power adaptor. Nothing was stated on the site or on product page when I purchased it.

  • Apart from the jumping drones, most were about $10 cheaper last week.

  • Bought 1 race and 1 night for the kids for Xmas. Though I don't know whether I can wait that long to try them out!

  • +2

Never had one or played before but bought it anyway…cheers for making me 49 bucks poorer

  • +2

Thanks OP. Got 3. Will be great to terrorise the cat.
Now, I've just got to get a cat.

    • +2

You can have mine. She shits everywhere, claws my lounge and drinks from the toilet bowl.

      • +5

        Sounds like my wife

        • +1

I don't buy many of the deals listed on Ozbargain, I'm here mainly for the the cheap airfares and the comments. And today Sir are the comments. Hope you enjoyed dinner tonight… You with your discounted Domino's and your wife with her free Woolworth delivered Whiskas.

    I'm not married, I don't have kids.
I don't need it, but I bought one.

  • Hi Tony

  • +4

These were on sale for awhile now… it was already here https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/316318 so I didn't bother posting :p

    Btw they are mad fun!

  • -4

    Dupe.

  • Is this good for an entry level toy? Never used a drone before.

    • +5

      Fck it, bought one.

  • +1

This is like a baby girl's Scorcher 6x6. Don't make em like they used to.

  • +3

Used my Wicked Wednesday email code, got my Parrot for $46.55 delivered….woo!

  • gone ..out of stock :(

    • You can get the $59 version. Just $10 more and you get night time driving (2 leds). The Tuktuk doesnt seem to have night light leds.

      • i think race tuktuk is faster whereas others are slower

        • +3

The 'race' series is without night lights, but has thicker wheels and can speed boost.

The 'night' series trades the speed boost for the night lights for low-light action.

I decided the night version would find more use with the kids as has greater application in the home after dark.

Faster would just mean more time banging into walls!

        • +3

@fookos: Thanks for providing me with reasoning…This is what I will keep telling myself & pacify as I was left with the option to purchase 'Night' only.

        • @fookos: Got the 'Last RACE Tuktuk' @JB Castle Towers. Thanks!! Your reasoning helped me sleep through the night well. Got the RACE TukTuk first thing in the morning :)

  • Wow, it has onboard camera + speaker. Might be useful for doomsday preppers (scouting/etc).

  • Tuk tuk gone :(

  • +2

    G'day

    • +2

      Howdy :)

  • -2

I had a drone just hovering over my backyard the other day. Knowing that there was a camera onboard, i actually felt very violated by someone inspecting me in my backyard. I was tempted to throw a rock at it, but knowing my luck i would have missed and broken a window on the house next door.

Can anything be done about this? Is it against the law? I don't know who the drone belongs to.

  • +1

My brother came home with 3 of these from JB a few days ago. They have been running them out at 50 for a few days now.

Interesting toys, reminds me of Home Alone 3 with the on board camera.

  • +4

This has been posted before https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/316318

Didn't get much upvote last time.

After firmware update the drone gets broken, returned it for full refund.

  • +1

Got the 'Last RACE Tuktuk' @JB Castle Towers. JB Sales guy said that now it's discontinued model and may pop-up again on JB-Online as 56 are in stock in the system @Online Warehouse and 561 got sold last night.

    • -3

Those stock probably has been in warehouse for many years, the batteries are no longer hold charge, after overnight they'll flat out. Expect many returns in coming weeks.

      • +2

The race and night models were only released in Australia around Oct 2015, so stock can't be older than that, and manufacture dates for this batch could well be 2016. You're just making stuff up Nostradamus.

  • Mine just arrived today and the box is empty. The manual and usb cable is in there, but no tuk tuk.

bloody hell JB, you've done it again.

    • Oh no :(

    • It must have space back where its came from.

  • +1

TukTuk arrived but I'm having no luck getting it to update and work. I can connect phone to the drone wifi fine but then I've got no internet connection when the app tries to download the update. I'm about to smash it. Glad I'm not trying to do this with an nagging kid in my ear.

    Anyone got theirs working?

edit. nevermind. tried again and the wifi update though app worked. I think it had something to do with the drone not being fully charged.

    • Good luck trying to turn the drone off. And overnight the battery will drain out and you need to charge it again before each use.

      • +1

Or just take the battery out.

    • +1

Yes you need to download the firmware to your laptop, then connect the parrot via usb, it will be detected as a usb drive, then drop the downloaded firmware .plf file to the ROOT directory. Make sure you have enough battery charge before you do this. Then unplug the usb cable to start the flashing process. You will then see the LEDs flash red/orange gradually getting quicker. Thats it, you are done. Enjoy.

You can download the latest firmware from here, top right:
      https://community.parrot.com/t5/Jumping-Race-Drone-Knowledge…

      • update worked OK through the app, eventually.
