Tonight I've negotiated a deal on the new ROIDMI 3S Car Charger. With this device using Bluetooth you can connect your phone to your car's FM stereo system to wirelessly transmit music. It has dual USB for charging two devices simultaneously up to 5V/3.4A and everything can be controlled using an app for Android and iOS.

The ROIDMI 3S has several improvements over its predecessor. It now uses an universal plug which makes it compatible with any car without requiring an adapter and also has the ability to monitor your car's battery voltage. If something abnormal is detected the charger will flash red and send a notification to your phone.

  • Get it for $14.50 US (~$18.57 AU) with the coupon CIQGPSHT

Please note: Australia Direct Express Shipping has been discounted to ~$0.19 US with free shipping available. AU$ based on exchange rate at time of posting.

    Thanks clear.
Do you know if there is any upgrade with the microphone

    • +1

Yes, my previous model works great except the microphone. But seems it is difficult to make a proper one since this thing is far away from your mouth and in most of the time, the in-car space is full of noise…

    • The new version no longer has a microphone. That's one way of 'fixing' the problem, I guess.

For those having trouble with the quality of the connection of their earlier models, Google roidmi hack and watch one of the YouTube videos on how to use aluminium foil to fix your connection. It's improved the reliability of mine. I just need to find a way to disable the microphone so that it doesn't route phone calls through the roidmi, but still goes through the phone microphone because the V1 and V2 roidmi microphones are rubbish.

      • Yeah i wish my roidmi did that. I wonder version 3 with no mic does that?

      • -1

But I guess the downside would be, that the sound will also come out of phone earpiece only. not thru car speakers.

      • So does that mean the other person on the end's voice will go through the car radio using Roidmi 3s but use the phone mic to speak?

      • +3

On android, just turn off "phone audio", then it will only route media audio through the Bluetooth.
Settings > Bluetooth, click the settings icon next to the device, turn off phone audio.

        • Wow, I had spent ages googling but not discovered that setting. Thanks @Orionn

    • no microphone, been using mine for about 2 weeks now ($24 inc express delivery from aliexpress).

I was hoping that it would at least push the sound through the car speakers but it doesn't on iphone

      • what do you mean about pushing sound through car speakers?

  • +2

Thanks Clear. I can get it in a few days.. unlike the equivalent Zapals offer of getting it in time for Christmas.

  • I am waiting for mine. It was posted apparently two days ago but only was registered in the post this morning. I don't think this model has a microphone? I will report back once I receive it.

  • Anybody received his from this deal?

I know not same store but I never received mine or get an update about it.

It's available at Gearbest for $14.07USD with "CAR18OFF". Think Gearbest are more reliable also.

    • Great find. The geekbuying deal is still slightly cheaper if you want to upgrade to a faster/more reliable delivery option. Gearbest is usd1.82 for registered via Netherlands and $2.11 via priority express. Though overall, there isn't much between the two.

      • Oh okay sorry I didn't consider the fast shipping option discount, I guess it is a better deal then. If you don't want priority shipping I guess it's a good saving.

    • I have ordered several items that I have never received from GearBest

  • Thanks, just ordered one with faster shipping.

  • Kool. Will get this to try as my trusty old 1999 Hyundai CD player is busted

  • I got this from the last deal its decent, note that the app doesn't work with it yet.

Because of that it has to stay on 96.4 channel, which has quite a lot of interference in certain areas.

Otherwise works fine in my 2000 Camry.

    • does the sound come thru to car speakers while calling ?

      • nope, voice doesn't come through

it would have been nice if it was possible to use the phones mic while using the 3s

    • @Omayga The one I got worked fine resetting the channel with the Roidmi Driver app on my Android phone (presuming there is an iPhone one) that I'd previously used on the 2S version. I think I did have to unpair the old device first though. What I'm having issues with, and not sure if this device is even capable of doing so, is pairing it with more than one device. I get an "incorrect password or PIN" when trying to connect another Android device but no option to set such a thing. Anyone managed to get this working?

      • I hope you have already received the new 3s. Does this have a mic or is that gone now ? Also if the mic is gone, what happens when you make a call, the call audio would be routed to car speaker but what about mic, does it use your phone mic ? Would be very helpful if you can let us know.

        • not sure about call audio part.
When I connect my phone to sound system. it only transfer music to it. if the phone rings. it still ring only on my mobile and no audio thru speakers.
I wonder this may do the same.
Xiaomi does not say anything about calls in specifications for a reason i guess.

regenade note I bought mine through GearBest in a previous offer so not related to this offer. I didn't even know the 2s had hands free but yes: "Bluetooth hands-free call makes a safer driving" is on its feature list, it's not listed on the 3s however. I just tested it with my wife calling me and while I can set it to ring through the speakers, once answered our conversation went to to the phone not the speakers. Hope that helps.

      • How's this compare to the 2s so far as FM transmission? I find the volume on the 2s is way down compared to if connect through the aux port in my wifes car.

        • +1

I've so far only used it on a few short runs but can't say I notice any difference. The 2s worked fine for me and the 3s does too. The only reason I bought the 3s is so I don't have to use a piece of aluminium foil to get the 2s to work in my car's accessory socket.

        • Also, if it helps, I'm using it with an Oppo F1S, i.e. an Android phone. Only mentioning this as I note a comment below about issues with volume and the iPhone.

    • app works on my iphone with 3s

  • I'm still waiting on mine that I bought from Zapals. Fingers crossed!

  • How do you choose the faster shipping option? or is it added automatically when you check-out?

    • +1

In the shopping cart click Proceed to Checkout. You can choose shipping there.

      • thanks, ordered one, good deal!

  • Thanks

    • You'll have to use the desktop site. At the bottom of the page you'll see a link that says Full Site.

  • Received mine today. It doesn't play voice calls through the speakers like the roidmi 2s :(

    • How does the audio transmission compare to the 2S? I find volume through the 2S to be a fair bit lower compared to another bluetooth device connected through aux port.

      • +1

Well they are similar… I can't tell the difference really. I think the only "improvement" on this version is that it is more compatible with cars. I personally went back to the roidmi 2s. The volume is fine on my android but seems worse on the iphone. No idea why. But I bought it for my dad to use anyway.

        • +1

Thanks for that. This is for my wife and is really only so bluetooth auto connects etc to listen to music, so if no difference there I'll just stick with the 2S.

  • just letting everyone know that the price and coupon discount code still work as of today, ordered mine a few minutes ago.

  • I was a bit skeptical about the express shipping but mine is due to be delivered tomorrow. Never received anything so quick from china(unless I paid for DHL). Will be buying more often from GeekBuying. Cheers OP

    • Australia Direct? I've been testing it myself the last few months and been getting it quick also. Auspost have been operating in China for a while now and had opened up a new express route.

      • Yea Australia Direct. Oh interesting, it's definitely worth the money even at their regular pricing

  • worrying thing is I STILL cannot find any info as to whether the FM transmitter is stereo or mono.. if it is only Mono I'm not going to be using the device at all and will see if I can return it.

    • Stereo. Also if the preset frequency 96.4 isn't too clear and strong in your car you can download the Roidmi 2S app which works on 3S and change the preset frequency to any you like.

      • thanks for that.. will be interested to see when it actually arrives as I was told by GeekBuying tech support stuff that it is MONO! This is why it is annoying that it is is not clearly defined in the specifications.

  • Got my Roidmi 3S today. Can play music from my Nexus 6P through to the radio fine. It first defaulted to channel 96.4, however I found there was quite a bit of static there. So I installed the android app, and changed the tuning to 88.8, and it comes through relatively crystal clear for me now. I called my mobile phone, although could not get the phone audio to come through the bluetooth when connected. Let me know if anyone has got this working.

  • Mine came within 7 days using express post which was pretty quick. Quality is great, though the default 96.4 wasn't, but it was straightforward to change to a different freq (chose 93.0). It's probably best it doesn't broadcast phone conversations given any other car could pick this up as well if tuned in to the same frequency and within range. I found I could pick up the broadcast at least 20m from the source in a different car.

  • well according to Australia Post, my 3S order will arrive tomorrow.. looking forward to testing if it is mono or stereo FM transmitter.

  • following up - the 3S DOES support stereo FM transmission, so I'm very happy with it.

    Observations are:

    • the Roidmi app says there is a firmware update, but I cannot get the update to work at all.
    • I cannot change the default frequency of 96.4 using the app, it is dimmed and cannot be selected.
    • FM transmission appears to be amplified, ie: I had to lower the volume from my mobile otherwise the music was clipped when played through the car speakers.
