    • it made me laugh but i don;t think that was the intention.

I see a lot of reduced item at my local Coles/Woolies, should I create a post for them too??

Can you price match at officeworks?

    • +1

If the item is identical, then yes.

  • Supercheap Auto just price matched for me, when they get them in there stores:)

  • Woolies starts to mark down fresh items two days before expiry/best before dates. Typically 30% off 2 days before, and 50% plus off 1 day before. If its milk or diary, you can probably add a couple days to this. The actual % off for 1 day before varies a lot, it really depends on the person who is marking it down, but its 50% minimum, but I have seen 70-80-90% off as well.

They are better than Coles in this respect, Coles only starts to mark down 1 day before at 20-30% off, then 50% on the day of expiry.

    • The actual % off for 1 day before varies a lot,

I got some Camembert reduced from about $14 down to $1 a few weeks back at Woolies… It was in better condition than some of the fresher ones I've bought before.

I think the closer it is the better. Ive had a few half price very in date cheeses sit before opening them up to knock off in a sitting or two.

Yes, recently in Coles I scored Tasmanian Red Square cheese at 95% off - reduced to 37c. I only bought 8 packs because even I thought 13 was too much. Two weeks later it was still fine accompanying McVitie's Digestives while I watched Tour de France. I should have bought the other 5.

I buy out of date cheeses and then wait until they become blue vein.

        • @Scab: By then, they may be ready to crawl away.

ok, posting reduced price supermarket items due to expiry dates shouldn't be posted on this site.
    don't do that again, mmkay?

every supermarket at any given second will have dozens of reduced price food items due to expiry dates. hardly worth opening an ozb deal about, especially about a single individual supermarket where 99.999% of the readers won't have access to.

use some common sense in the future please?

I was going to post a wannabe mod alert, but then came to the conclusion you're pulling our legs. 🙄

A simple /s at the end would have made it so much clearer.

Expiry dates on most are the 23rd.

A true Ozbargainer doesn't pay attention to expiry dates.

  • FOOD FIGHT!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • What a day to not have looked at ozbargain!

    Gutted!

Maybe they'll be cheaper tomorrow.. Actually no it'd be illegal to sell them expired
