mod - looks like this offer might be closed now

Please enter your details to receive your free MEP mug. Please note that we can only deliver while stocks last, limited to one mug per person (Australia and New Zealand only).

This was a banner ad in a chemistry newsletter I received. Got a confirmation by email that they would be sending the mug. MEP Instruments are a manufacturer who make instruments for chemistry (in case you care).

  • what did you put for company?

Made one up. I reckon most of the people on the chemistry newsletter would be studying/working at a university.

  • who cares! Thanks ordered 1! :)

  • Thanks ordered 1

waits for the unethical-abusing-a-company bandwagon riders to neg

    • Or the….

"This is unethical because you made up a company name"

      speech.

      • +6

Bah, I always thought ethics were people from overseas! :p

  • Ordered cheers

As an actual chemist from a real world university - thank you!

  • +3

Thanks Neil, I don't think I'm rorting anything; I'm gonna make pharmaceutical grade coffee in this sucka! ;)

  • What solvent can you use to remove the branding on the cup? ;-)
PS. I'm fine for cups. -Finally- got my personalised Continental soup ones delivered this week!

    • +7

The compound co-ca-co-la will strip coatings off most things! ;)

  • Not planning on buying any of their instruments, but seeing as how I have a university address and am studying some chemistry units I don't think I'm abusing their offer. So hopefully I'll receive the mug, as they're always more interesting with stories behind them. (glances at the dog heartworm chew mug)

  • thanks

  • Thanks

  • Have a feeling they wont honour it. Anyhow, nice find ;)

Geez, we're thin on the ground for good bargains…we're salivating over a free mug. Last time I checked, mugs were going for 50 cents at Salvos/savers/vinnies. $1 at Ikea/Target etc.

    • salvos/vinnies? A mug isn't something i'd buy second hand.. or do they sell new ones now too?

    • +3

But this is free, AND delivered to your door. Ozbargainers are suckers for anything delivered to their door! XD

  • LOL, another genuine offer sabotaged and exploited by cheap skates who have no morals.

    • +4

Get off your high horse. I bet you ordered one too :P

How about splintering off and starting a new website:

        Ozploitationbargain.com.au?

    • That's what we do here. deal with it.

You know who you are !!!

Although I'm not getting the mug, ultimately I don't think they'd mind the company thing — it's just a marketing thing for them and mass producing/ordering bulk amounts of mugs aren't going to cost them appreciably.

    • +1

Yep, and the goodwill & word of mouth advertising it fosters is worth every penny they spend! :)

I get heaps of unsolicited free samples from various suppliers sent to me as well; every now and again someone spots them on my desk & asks if that company is any good, I say, well they sent me a free insert product here so they can't be all bad! That's usually enough impetus for at least a phone contact, if not a fully fledged deal; so it's all WIN! :)

    It's expired.

    • +4

Actually, that part of the site is "currently undergoing maintenance".
      Right….

  • Thanks mate. Just ordered.

lol i think they might have been overwhelmed. Probably expecting a few requests a week and this has had over 4700 clicks, without the other sites this was on.
I think we can safely assume this has ended and they are wondering what to do now.
Still a positive from me as it was a genuine offer, and i'd be disappointed at missing out if i needed any cups lol. Now if it was a free pen…that'd be a different matter ;-)

  • AWESOME! Got the free mug today. Has a periodic table on it. How cute.

    • I got it today. Yeah, cool design :P

  • aww got the dreaded email instead of a free mug. I was hoping a university address would help. Maybe next time
