ABOUT THE SHOW

Celebrating the beloved original, Lerner and Loewe’s My Fair Lady is now playing in Melbourne and will travel to Sydney this year, with an outstanding cast under the direction of Julie Andrews.

The Cinderella story about the Cockney flower girl Eliza Doolittle and the appealingly arrogant phoneticist, Professor Higgins, is an endearing tale that charms audiences with its warmth and vivid characters.

The clash of cultures sparks some of the theatre’s most jubilant songs and witty dialogue. The triumphant score features unforgettable numbers including Wouldn’t It Be Loverly?, On The Street Where You Live, I Could Have Dance All Night and Get Me to the Church on Time.

In 1956, Alan Jay Lerner and Frederick Loewe’s masterful retelling of George Bernard Shaw’s Pygmalion took the world by storm. Playing the irresistible Eliza Doolittle was a young Julie Andrews, in only her second role on Broadway, a role that would catapult her into international stardom.

In a world first, Julie Andrews will direct a glorious production of My Fair Lady, teaming up with the Tony Award-winning Christopher Gattelli and associates of the musical’s original designers Cecil Beaton and Oliver Smith.

  • $8.90 Handling Fee

ridiculous. Art is epitome of discretionary spending, so, why mob keeps paying? Stop, and this ripoff ceases soon after.

      Handling
      Booking
      Collection
      Credit Card

      All the fees!

      • They have not charged credit card fees for a while now, although I seem to recall they did once. They had probably rebadged that to handling fees.

      • All the fees!

if Hoyts can charge $1.50 (or proportionally so) so can Regent Theatre… Oh, but I forgot, Hoyts didn't outsource ticketing to grifters.

        • I thought $8.90 is ridiculous too! $1-$3 is more acceptable. What handling? We have to print our own tickets!

But at the moment, unless you quit attending any such entertainment, there is no way out. The consumer authorities do not seem to do anything about it either.

        • @bluesky:

you quit attending any such entertainment

exactly. Capitalism only works well if consumers do their bit.

    • Yes, I wish there is some clamp down on the fees. Unfortunately, seems like it is an oligopoly operating where it comes to such shows.

I went instores today and tix are $80 flat including fees - but you can only buy them on the day… ie. Tomorrow morning for the evening show. Also it's cash only.

    • Thanks for the update. If in city anyway, this will save some bucks :-)
