          Alright stop!

          Collaborate and feel,

Tightarse is back with a brand new deal.

          Tight, tight baby.

        • @Scab: So 90s

        • @Turd: If there was a problem yo I'll solve it.

        • +1

@starburstyellow: if there was mo money there would be mo problems

        • +1

          @Scab: Your rhymes are tight.

incidentally, I love that when someone calls me 'tight', I can take it as a compliment.

  • +1

Hell yeah. Time to get local champion and combine it with Androi Pay promo from Amex.

    • isnt android pay need to be under $100 ? CAN you split the payments and do 2 adroid paywaves on the same transaction will it work?

      • Yeap. Not sure how Android Pay works but with Apple Pay anything over $100 requires a pin.

      • +5

Android pay works if over $100, just enter Pin on terminal.

      • Just split payments. Coles allows you to do that.

  • $100 visa cards can be hard to find in some places let alone a specific type.

does the upgraded checkout software allow coles gift cards to be used to purchase these?

    • I'd like to know as well. It still worked last time, April, when I purchased an Ultimate Kids gift card.

      • +3

Last time Coles had the only one visa deal I was able to pay using egift card, but don't try split payment with that. Make sure your gift card has enough balance.

    • -2

YMMV, best to try it yourself and if it works it works if it doesnt it doesnt.

      • +1

I don't have any Coles GC to try and I want to avoid ordering any if it doesn't work.

        • +1

Do you get 5% off Coles Physical Gift Cards?

        • -1

If you don't have any Coles GC then whether the system allows it or not wouldn't affect you right?

I tried this about 2 months ago - still worked then.

        • +1

@illumination: I have tried few months ago at self checkout with coles egift card it did not work, also noticed if you are buying gift card in coles system does not allow split payment, i had to call the cust serv people to continue the payment with my credit card instead of coles egift card. And Cust service person said you can't buy gift card with a gift card. Coles getting worse in this

        • +2

@vis: successfully used egift card to purchase a visa card not long ago using self checkout.

      • +2

You can use Coles Gift Cards to buy another gift cards at self checkout. But you Can Not using split payment.

        • Not another coles gift card. Gift Card inception!

        • Right.

  • What's the difference between visa and visa vanilla?

    • +1

VISA is the issuing bank/facility, Vanilla is just a brand, like Only1 or Indue or Coles or Woolies.

    • +9

What's the difference between visa and visa vanilla?

The flavour, it's all about the flavour.

  • Dont get excited, while its a good offer, you can only get it ONCE per Flybuys account.

  • Isn't it cheaper to pay from your prepaid mobile credit for google play? I believe you get the prepaid mobile credit for much cheaper via the starter packs.

    • I don't think you can do this anymore, and it was only telstra.

      • You can still do it. You need to activate your Telstra sim on one of the prepaid plans that still give Google credit.

  • +13

Although I believe every cent matters in OZB, I feel like $4.05 bonus doesn't worth the effort! What do you reckon?

    • +4

How sacrilegious! Hand in your OzB membership lol :)

    • +2

Well, if you have discounted Coles gift card, you can cash out as VISA card. (Provided the upgraded checkout software still allow us to do so).

    • +4

      Still a saving!

For a greater good of a dream of a Sydney property!

$4.05 here $4.05 there over your lifetime you can afford and buy Sydney Property.

      • +1

        afford what? a parking space?

        • +3

You need 246914 gift cards to be able to get something. Might be worth looking into saving those $4.05

      • Great, first step is to build a human cloning factory.

      • -5

It actually costs $1.90 each time…

$5.95 purchase fee applies to VISA card.

        $5.95 (card cost) - $4.05 (bonus) = $1.90 (cost)

    • It's also effectively three points per dollar at places that don't accept Amex/you'd only get one point per dollar.

    • Yeah not worth it for me but YMMV.

  • +1

Basically save $4, with the condition that $10 must be spent at Coles. I count pennies too, but even I have standards.

    • +1

Not everyone uses the $10 cashback. I prefer to transfer my points to Velocity

      • +1

i transfer to etihad guest for much cheaper domestic redemptions.

        • domestic? How?

        • I have British Airways Avios for that. But yeah you're right Ethihad offers good dom redemption also.I stick to Velocity knowing that Sinngapore First Class is available for redemption.

        • @jetcam: I don't think it's actually cheaper, given Velocity give 15% redemption bonuses as a matter of course twice a year.

        • @JohnHowardsEyebrows:

It's cheaper in some cases such as Mel-Brisbane.

        • @nightelves: yes still much cheaper for many routes even with the 15% bonus.

        • @jetcam:

Only downside is it takes an hour to book the flight with Etihad. Anyway in the end I suppose whatever works for you is what counts.

        • @nightelves: took me 45 minutes this week. 1 passenger, 1 leg. was a bit frustrating.

  • i didn't get it this deal, what's all about …

    • +2

You save $4.05 overall if you buy a $100 Mastercard plus activation fee. $10 of that total needs to be spent at Coles. Or converted into some other reward currency.

If you buy Google Play card you only have to spend $50 to get $10 back. But that $50 is only spendable on the Play Store, which is not smart, because you can also get Play store credit by buying Telstra prepaid starter packs for $15 or sometimes less, and it's cheaper to buy apps that way.

      • thanks for explaination, i get it

      • Is that still easy to do?
I have a google play music family sub, so saving some bucks on that would be good.

Bought play store card previously, like this, which makes it 20% off, but if I could save a few more $ I wouldn't say no ;)

Any guide on how that works?

        • It's easy.

Put your Telstra sim into your device (make sure you choose the correct plan — not all include Play credit anymore), then make a purchase, and select 'Telstra Billing' as your method of payment.

        • @lostn:

but if you're already subscribed to a play music plan, then its a re-occurring payment
Can you 'transfer' telstra billing credit to be future 'play music' $?

        • +1

@SBOB: Have you tried canceling the subscription and resubscribing? Or changing payment method? They must have a way to change your payment method, because your card could expire or you get a new card.

  • Have anyone tried if buying gift card would actually work with that spend $50 (or whatever amount you've been targeted to) for 4 weeks offer?
I know the T&C for that one said exclude gift card, but curious if they have a way to differentiate that spending?

    • +2

No, they ARE exclude, Coles CAN tell.

      • +6

It's almost as if they are collecting huge amounts of data about our shopping habits…

    • Unlike AMEX, Coles knows what you're buying.

    • Thanks guys. Was expecting they're like Amex, lol

      • +1

AMEX have no right to access your buying habits, however Coles can because it is their systems.
Amex cant force HN or Coles to revel data to them without the privacy concerns of buyers

        • +1

Amex wouldn't care one way or the other.
You think HN Marketing aren't paying for those offers?

  • Can you use these Visa cards at ALDI by pressing 'savings' at checkout and avoid their surcharge?

    • Does that work with other credit cards?

    • +2

No. All visa or MasterCard gift cards are always using "Credit" anywhere.

  • silly question.. what does 2000 Flybuy points give? Sorry for my ignorance

    • +1

      $10.

    • +1

      Or 870 Velocity Points
      Or 800 Etihad Guest Miles

      • What are those worth in real dollars?

        • Depends what you use them for, really.

Using 1c/pt valuation for Velocity points, 870 points = $8.70
However, Velocity often do 15% bonuses from transfer partners which makes it 2000 FlyBuys = 1000 Velocity points ($10).
Etihad Guest Miles can be pretty good value if you know how to use them, arguably worth more than Velocity points.

If you use points right you can often get more than 1c/pt+ value

        • @illumination: If you have need to fly domestically (especially at short notice), the points are worth considerably more than 1c per point. e.g. 7800 points plus ~ $20 tax = about $100 for a one way flight to Sydney is generally available any time - such a price is very rare on the two proper airlines, especially at short notice and over weekends.

        • +1

@JohnHowardsEyebrows: Absolutely agree but didn't feel the need to go into such depth :P

  • Can someone explain why they have $5.95 fee? It makes little sense. It's like paying $106 for $100.

irrespective of this deal I mean

    • Bank charges from what I understand. It's the same as buying a "blank" debit card so that you can deposit money into. Some even have monthly charges if you do not use it per month.

  • +1

They have to make money but $5.95 is like extortion.

    • +2

Yea you might end up in a povertytrap!!

  • -1

$5.95 fee ? i see no deal here

    • -3

Then move a long and dont comment.

      • +5

        you mean along

    • Buy the card with a plat edge, and it's like moving $100 worth of spend onto your 3p/$ plat edge. Plus the 2000 flybuys which offsets the purchase cost.

  • Just about to top up my google account. nice timing OP. Thanks

  • It says it can only be used once per ''household'. What about if that household has several 'accounts', are they all eligible?

    • +1

I tried this (using a second FlyBuys account of the same address) last time a similar deal was on - I actually haven't checked whether I got all the credits, but I think I only got it for one (i.e. they do enforce it)

I'll check later and report back

      • +1

        Ok, here are my findings.

From past deals like this, I have always gotten multiple sets of bonus points from these gift card deals despite using a second FlyBuys card of the same address.

However, I only got one set of the 4k bonus points from this Android Pay promotion.

        So that's why I was a little uncertain…

  • Can I use Google Play card to pay for Youtube Red?

  • Where do you guys get your Coles GC from? 5% discount?
