  • Aargh. It is not a free domain — you need to pay $6.95/year in order to own the domain. Otherwise it is just a fancy web forwarder — you can't change the DNS, you can have emails attached to that domain, etc.

Worse, someone has already registered ozbargain.tk — it gets forwarded to ourbrisbane.com, which is owned by the Brisbane City Council. Dodgy Queenslanders!!!

    • Still its a place to start for us lowly plebs. $7 a year is cheap for the full dns, But for us who dont want to do that then its a cool way to have a domain name.

www.ozpete.tk is cool. But peter at ozpete.tk seems a little strange (BTW this goes nowhere).

Now if I register Skippy, kcyw, foundit, Scotty .tk, etc maybe I can make some money!!! - sorry guys only kidding

      • Yeah — that's why I did not vote against it because this "deal" will be valuable to some. Although I doubt anyone who is serious in getting a domain would want one. Or maybe I still cannot get over the fact that the Queensland City Council took the ozbargain.tk domain…

        • Just because its forwarded to ourbrisbane doesn't mean its registered by the council… maybe someone just pointed it there cos they had to pick somewhere to park it. ??

          • @adam: Okay. Maybe I should be glad that they didn't pick any p0rn sites to park the domain…

  • just something else to be aware of

Note that FREE domains expire after 90 days when less than twenty-five (25) users have been to your website.

  • I used to have a .tk a long time ago, but domain names now are just $10 or $15 a year. I seriously doubt there is a market for heavily ad supported free hosting and domain names. By the way, try http://www.uni.cc for free sub domains with full DNS support.
