Dammit. Couldn't remember gearbest password and they were gone by the time I reset :(

  • Missed it…

  • The camera I bought from Zapals.com just arrived yesterday and it's working very well so I bought another one from GearBest.com in such a good price without thinking! Thanks TA!

  • Whats this for? buy first ask later :D

  • What are the common uses for these? Have a couple but they have ended up in my ozb drawer with all my other 'too hard to resist' items :D

I use to perve on keep an eye on my front yard, and look for people dumping stuff illegally and/or stealing from the mailbox

So far I have caught footage of

      • Dumb people running over my rubbish bin that I put for collection with their cars. They are apparently blind and cannot see, or even hear, the sound of their car (left side car door) scraping against a man-sized bin…

      • 4 trolley dumpers bring home shopping trolleys from a neighbouring shopping centre that is literally 50 meters away. One of these trolley dumpers had no shopping in his trolley when he parked it — he just had a kid that wanted to ride it home. He is a young man and the kid can obviously walk — they are my neighbours.

      • an elderly (wo)man? having a smoke and throwing a lit cig butt into my front garden. Thankfully, it rained that day so the soil and vegetation was wet.

      • Or for people taking a dump in your mailbox.

      • Mounted inside pointing through a window? I tried this but found the infra red reflection obstructed my view.

Yes, the IR function is turned off on mine.

      • Where do you live that has all this trouble? Punchy?

        • It's not that far west, I would say it's borderline Western Syd

      • I really really hate trolley dumpers on car parking spaces in shopping centres. Serious pet peeve.

  • can someone please confirm how video is stored?
our house is a halfway house and have people constantly coming in and out of our house, and things go missing.
so i want to setup a camera potentially in the hallway and in my room to see who is coming in and out and what they are doing..
question i have, is how can i store the video and how much will store.. also is it a good device for what i am trying to achieve

    • just put a micro-sd card in it and you are good to go. It's perfect for your purpose if there is some natural light in the room and constant power…

The recording is done in 1 minute increments. Autosorted into folders as such: -> Date directory (name with date) -> Hour directory (24 hours means 24 folders) -> files.
Mp4 file 1080p, video is quite lossy and blocky. A couple of (3-4) megabytes per file.

  • Apologies for the noob comment - but does everyone use this for home security? Is that the main purpose?

    Thanks

These provide no security, only surveillance.

I bought one to try to track down where possums are getting inside my roof. Bloody things keep peeing everywhere and having fights right above my bedroom at dawn, I'm worried one morning they'll come crashing through the ceiling. I've blocked up every crevice I can find but they still find their way in somewhere.

      • Out of curiousity has it helped you figure out how they get in?

        • Unfortunately I was rushed to hospital a few days after it arrived, so I didn't have time to install it. Turns out I had a twisted intestine, so now have a Frankenstein's monster row of staples running from my nipples to my groin. Fun! I won't be able to climb into the roof cavity for at least the next few weeks while it all heals.

PM me in a couple of months and I might have more info :D

          @greenie4242: Glad you're alright!
We had possums getting into our walls and roof for ages, used security cameras to find where they were getting in from.
First time we spotted them they would sneak through a hole that leads to under the house, we covered that up with chicken wire but they lifted that up and snuck in.
Once we covered that up a few months later they got in again, this time they would pry the tin on the roof up and sneak up under there too haha. Smart little creatures they are.

  • can these be used as web cams?

  • dang it missed it…

    more please? :)

  • It is really unfair that TA posts great deals when we are at work and miss them!

  • Missed it too!

  • Do these Come with a metal base so we can mount them high on window frames?

    • I haven't got mine yet but from what I understand they have a magnetic metal base.

  • I have one from a previous deal which i have applied the hack to. As ill be storing my footage else where has anyone comeany cheap microsd cards? I plan to buy a few more cams. Hoping for a 8gb or lower for $5
