Nintendo SNES Mini for Preorder $119.95 @ Harvey Norman

930

It appears that Harvey Norman has more stock in of the sold out Nintendo SNES Mini consoles. I don't know how long they will last considering everywhere else is sold out but secure your units whilst you can.

This is a preorder and will ship on the 30th of September. The price is the same as everywhere else $119.95 plus shipping or click and collect I believe.

Back in stock again (7/8 4pm)

    • you can buy a NES mini on aliexpress for 20 dollars delivered with 500 games

      • Got a link?

        • aliexpress.com type in NES classic or NES mini, theres hundreds of listings

  • I have to remember to leave $130 or whatever in my account next month for my JB Hifi preorder. I'm actually looking forward to getting this a lot.

  • (profanity), missed out! Damn it, the one day I didn't check OZB.

20+1 games is it that hard to say 21🤔

    • lol

    • +1

it's 20 Super Nintendo games and 1 unreleased game

    • +1

It's because one of them is special and not really a "classic" game.

    • +1

I think it was meant to emphasize the unreleased Star Fox 2.

  • I'm struggling to get the point. All these consoles have been emulated on PC for years and you can choose a wide range of gamepads similar to the originals as well. Given this is only a clone why the massive interest?

    • +4

You can watch sports at home why bother travel international for one game? Or you can always listen to CD instead of going to the concert.

    • they are limited edition collectables. same could be applied to any limited edition product.

when was the last time you could walk into a store and buy a brand new SNES with 20 games and 2 controls? like 1992

      • not to mention StarFox 2! wont be surprised if a lot of fans are buying just for it.

    • Why do think men buy pieces of shit old cars like MGBs? Men have a fixation with reliving their youth. Most people who buy these won't play them for more than 10mins, they just want one…. because.

      • that's pretty sexist I know lots of girls who played super nintendo back in the day

        • -4

Did you even read my post? How many women in their 30s / 40s do you think are going to buy one of these today? Yeah, thought so…

    • Authenticity, collectors value, nostalgia…the reasons are many. Also Star Fox 2 had never been released in complete form until now. That's a big deal for Nintendo fans.

It's a stand alone console that connects via HDMI so it can be used on any TV. PC emulation requires fiddling with settings, acquiring ROMs, a PC to run it on, your own gamepad that's set up and working on your PC (most non-PC gamers won't have this). It's just all around convenient at a low-ish cost.

    • Because there will always be mindless sheep in this world to profit off of!

  • Very cheap for 21 games games costs like $50-$100 so for around $100 it's a steal, cheaper than getting the romsfor a pc since u need a pc which costs more.

  • +1

I think its pretty easy to understand the appeal of these things. For one, its an official Nintendo product, as opposed to using roms and emulators which obviously are a legal grey area. Although its pretty easy to get a raspberry pi with retropie/recalbox set up and loaded with close on every game ever made, its also usually a pain in the ass. There is always some setting you have to go in and change or play around with, controllers arent detected properly, certain games dont run correctly etc etc. In the end a lot of people just cant be bothered with the emulation route due to the time required getting it working. Some people enjoy fiddling with this type of stuff, most however do not. With this you are doing things totally legally, you plug and play, you get a cool snes style case, 2 official controllers and 21 mostly very good to great games. Plus a high guaranteed resale value where you could most likely sell the console for more than you payed for it if you ever do get bored in a few years time. It's a no brainer purchase at $120.

  • Just got a response from Harvey Norman (here in Canberra), the order was placed on back order pending stock arrival and will be allocated stock when it arrives and ship out after that. Good news on that front at least :)

  • Yeah I still think it's normal. The item is on back-order, because they don't have stock, because it's a pre-order.. makes sense.

Also, it is strange that these things tend to bring out so much talk of using ROMs and emulation on PC/RasPi. I don't see many comments of "why wouldn't you just download it from torrents?!" when someone posts a deal on a Blu-ray movie/TV show or a book or something.

  • Got me thinking i should pull my old SNES out of the cupboard….

    • I actually threw mine out during a garage clean out a few years ago………. :(

      • Why would anyone throw a console out? Don't people know how much they are worth?

        • it has been sitting in the garage covered in dust and grim for the last 15 years, I figure it probably wouldn't work anymore………

I guess the fact this comes with two controllers, which I'll also be able to use with my PC through a wii-remote, is what tipped me over the edge to purchase.

  • Damn it, I can't get a hold of one. I always read things like these when it's already too late :'(

its back in stock for pre-order

      • Not working anymore. And it's in my shopping cart :(

"Some of the products are currently out of stock. Contact us if you need help"

  • This product is currently out of stock.

  • +1

WOW that was quick. Lucky my order went through. They must of found another box or two.

  • Seems to be no option to 'add to cart' button even if it says preorder on top still. Think it may have sold out. In fact tried searching on their website for it and it shows 0 results.

  • Mi Box owners should just buy two of these:

    https://www.theverge.com/circuitbreaker/2017/6/15/15809834/8…

Or even the cheaper snes Bluetooth controllers from 8bitdo.

And grab a snes emulator and you'll have a blast, and save money on these rip offs too :)
