    270 stores in Australia, 10 per store, 3 days, 8100 pizza's… are we getting sliced? :)

    • +5

      Pizza Hut replied: We actually have over 315 stores in Australia! Someone should really update that…. 🤔

      • +9

        We actually have over 315 stores

        So, 316?

        • +13

          316x10x3=9480

          I smell BaMb0ozLE

        • +2

          Now I know they have 333.33 stores

        • 311 in fact based on their site - https://www.pizzahut.com.au/store-list

          i get it 315>311 - basic maths here we come!

        • +1

          @Qisaki:

          To play devil's advocate the quoted figure of "10,000" only has an intrinsic precision of 1 significant figure.

          311 * 10 * 3 = 9,330 ≈ 10,000 (1 s.f.)

        • +1

          @Scrooge McDuck: Isn't 9330 to one significant figure 9000?

          Also, 315 stores * 10 * 3 = 9450 => 1 sf = 9000.

          317 stores * 10 * 3 = 9510 => 1sf = 10000

          So they need at least 317 stores for their statement to hold true (As Scrooge rightly pointed out, given that 10 and 3 are to 1 sf, the final number only then requires 1 sf accuracy.)

        • +1

          @Tiggrrrrr:

          You're right.

          No TV and no beer make Scrooge something something…

        • @Scrooge McDuck: Incorrect - 10,000 is significant to 5 figures, because it's equivalent to saying 1.0000e4. On the other hand, 1e4 is equal to 10,000 but is only significant to one figure (implying the actual number could range from 9500 to 10500.+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

      • Damn, the one near me shut down. I can't even order home delivery anymore as there isn't one servicing the area

      • +1

        Minus my local which shutdown recently, nearest to me is 4km away next to the CBD, however with traffic you are looking at 20-30min drive.

        Funny enough, it became a Connie's Pizza House, it's like they just changed the signs, kept all the equipment/layout down to the TV hanging in the corner.

        • You're referring to the High Street Northcote Pizza Hut that is now a Connie's Pizza… Sad but true… I too can't get Pizza Hut delivery in the Northcote/Thornbury area in Victoria… Bloody Dominos for junky pizza is the only choice…

        • +1

          @msjb:

          That's the one. Even though the website still has:
          Welcome to your Northcote Pizza Hut!
          This store is temporarily closed

          Wonder if they include the store in the numbers.

          Domino's is even further then Pizza Hut Richmond, so it's Mojo's Weird Pizza, Pricey, but a solid pizza.

    • +1

      Chandler: That's fast math. We could use you in Tulsa!

    • +12

      So this deal runs over the whole weekend. You were never a student, a shift worker or just someone with time who lived near a Pizza Hut, or a kid or a hungry teenager? sheesh.

      Got one. The staff were aware of the promotion and took my order without fuss. 6 min later and they handed me a medium margherita. It was a lot better than I expected, very tasty, juicy tomato and plenty of cheese.

      Thanks OP! :)

      • Which store.

        • @Scrooge McDuck:

          If anyone else besides you got a free pizza

  • +15

    The fact that dominos or pizza hut think what they sell as a 'Margherita' is actually a Margherita is offensive to pizza ;)

  • Not bad but shame its only the first 10 customers.

  • +1

    Good if you can get it

  • +11

    Lol Banggood marketing tactic.

    It will be sold out at exactly opening time.

    • +2

      yea that s8 deal was the worst - lucky for me it was only 8pm my local time - sucks for those who got up at 4am !

    • Apple marketing tactic?
      They want queues in front of the shops (so people remember when they open).
      If you are 11th make sure you ask for free pizza if it's not done in time.

    • Even I was thinking this as I posted it!

  • +2

    Don't think I'd bother getting a free Margherita to be honest….if I'm eating pizza, I'd like some toppings.

    • +10

      Then definitely steer clear of Pizza Hut.

  • +4

    Even free isn't enough to make me eat Pizza Hut. I made that mistake last month, wow - I went to the toilet way too many times in the next 24 hours.

    • +2

      Its not from the pizza but from the curry. Lol

    • What the hell is with the base, tastes like it's full of sugar and they only have the option of mozzarella and tasty cheese

  • 2 hours for a free pizza.. hmm plus opal fares haha lol.. sigh dominos it is then my local pizza place is like $15-17 cheapest unless I go to coles or woolies.

  • When is Pizza hut going to realise they have a crap business model and turn to something better like Malaysian Pizza Hut or something…

    • What do malaysian pizza huts do better?

      • +3

        Everything, from sides to desserts and drinks. It's a proper restaurant setting.

        • +1; I miss Pizza Hut in Malaysia

        • Do they have a stackable salad bar?

        • I went to a Pizza Hut in Miri once. Worst pizza and service I ever had.

      • Bali pizza hut is the best

  • +3

    Free cardboard? No thanks.

    • +1

      Which is better these days, Dominos or Pizza Hut? I know that Dominos has gone miles downhill.

      • +1

        Dominos by far, even though the pizzas are cheap and nasty they are still somewhat edible. Pizza Hut pizzas actually taste like cardboard, if I had to choose between skipping a meal or being forced to eat Pizza Hut pizzas I'd forgo that meal.

    • If it tastes like cardboard then they stole the recipe from mcdonalds.

      • +1

        McDonald's is really closer to thick wet paper than cardboard.

        • Thick, oily fried paper

        • @niggard: Must haved missed the oily & fried on my paper.. gawd it was bad. Never again.

  • +3

    Would not waste my time with pizza hut or dominoes,its nothing but dough with some tomato paste and,a bare scattering of toppings,an absolute insult to real pizza,yet people think its cheap and tastes good,maybe if you havent had real pizza,your buying bread,thats why its cheap.

    • +2

      That sounds like the recipe for a perfect authentic pizza.

      • +1

        Cept real Italian Pizza use thin bases, and top produce, along with full SLICED not DICED tomato..so it tastes amazing!! Home grown tomato, garlic, herbs and good cheese. Helps that you don't sit in a tacky pizza joint like you do here either.

    • +1

      nothing but dough with some tomato paste and,a bare scattering of toppings,an absolute insult to real pizza

      That is what real (Italian) pizza should be… Unfortunately, even the sparsely topped pizzas from them taste nothing like the real thing

      If person A has acclimatised to the best of pizzas and must pay a premium to be satisfied, and person B is used to Pizza Hut and therefore only has to pay Pizza Hut prices to be satisfied, who is ultimately maximising their utility per dollar?

      Economists and psychologists call this the hedonic treadmill. I like to call it the 'Dan Bilzerian acknowledges he is only slightly satisfied with his life' effect.

      So I'm all for being a snob but you have to think through the implications of your choices.

        A: Person C who is accustomed to oats and chicken for every meal and gets a Pizza Hut pizza for free. 😊

    Walked to my local one at opening time (11:30) and came back 15 minutes later. Turns out only myself and one other picked up a free pizza, and I gotta say… it made me appreciate Domino's pizza even more.

    • Same, went to the local. There was absolutely no one around at all. Waited for 10 minutes and picked up the Pizza, no one else came for a free Pizza during that time. Defintiely not Ozbargained.

  • I have not been to what was my fave Pizza joint for near 10 years because work and their stores were too far away. Then the Sunshine Coast store closed few years back, and the best Thin n Crispy base was a memory.
    Grabbed the first freebie from the near new Pizza Hut store here in the middle of the Sunny Coast, and one slice was enough……that is…has to be the worst ever. Free or not, I could not finish that off.

    The family Foodie said it tasted ok but base was out of a bin, Oh well….at least I tried and there is still hope.

    Not to say every other item in their range maybe horrid, but the Margherita was blech.

Walked in when it opened and no hassle from staff. Guy sitting next to me had ozbargain open on his phone. Margaritas only taste good when its a thin wood fired base with bocconcini IMO.

  • Seems some stores don't know about it. Went in to Carlingford NSW and was told I had to buy online. But when I showed them the Facebook post they honoured it :)

We were the only people there for the offer even 20 mins after opening nobody else had come in asking for free pizza.
