    Great value.

Put a Nvidia 1050 in there and you can play PUBG at 70 frames per second for under 500 dollars

I want this but i dont need, i already have 2 spare pcs :(

Check out the $90 O'Neill just posted, was like wow cheapest desktop I've seen on eBay.

    • At what resolution

      • -2

        1080p

and i saw the 90 dollar deal.

        this is great value :(

    • Im in the same boat… im sure there are plenty of reasons for buying, I just dont know them yet.

    • +2

Put a Nvidia 1050 in there and you can play PUBG at 70 frames per second for under 500 dollars

If you're lucky. it's kinda unoptimizated at the mo. Would be closer 45-50fps

      • gtx 1060 and its 50% of the time, frame drops, stutter 90fps -to - 45fps .. really needs another year in beta

  • +6

If memory serves me right, the 8300 is good for Hackintosh too ;)

  • Used

    • No, you haven't.

      • lol

How come it says i5 in description?
I have an old PC and need new one, would this be a good price or going to computer markets be better?

    • Looks like a typo, i5 3770 DNE

    • The CPU is a 2012 version but it's pretty good value for the cash imo, just slap a second hand GPU in.

      • +1

umm… so is it i7 or i5? The benchmark looks great.. 9000+

        • I must assume i7 if description is right, there is no i5 3770.

        • Sorry, thats what i was meaning. It is most likely i7 3770 (as i5 3770 DNE)

Quick pcpartpicker list.. just did it up in five minutes.. let me know what penalty needs changing.

    https://au.pcpartpicker.com/list/vTM3TH

    • A case

      • Can you recommend one or should I just pick the cheapest.. this is all local sourcing and prices.. maybe I should pick US to make it more competitive.

        • Probably just the cheapest, unless people are interested in this form factor (and therefore pick something similar)

        • Kogan had some cheap ones Inc delivery afew month ago, and delivery is the killer in cases. That said local good will PC shop or scrap yard might have a cheap one.

    • The CPU price ROFL.

      • Yeh that might help too, but who needs that?

      • +1

        LOL rofl whoopsie daisy.

    "Refurb" Blow out the dust?

Because I can't edit my above comment.

    $500 AUD + i7 3770 cpu price.

    • +1

i7 3770 does not have a price because it's obsolete stock.. nobody sells it anymore.

The market value of the CPU probably around $140 dollars, maybe more.

      • $190-200 on ebay

        • That's very, very inflated price on eBay, on OCAU forums you'd score one around $150. $200 for such an old CPU would not make sense once Ryzen 3 comes to Australia.

        • @scrimshaw: I agree…

      • So at full market current prices this deal is at best 50% off "brand new" no sales?

        • It's not a fair comparison because old stuff has no warranty, and the Refurbished desktop market is absolutely flooded with sellers all selling the same stuff, which drives down the price.

If you are looking for bang for buck, then buy second hand (but take certain risks like having to repair the desktop at your own cost if it breaks down), and SFF desktops also have limitations — the very obvious ones being, size, proprietary form factors and lack of expansion ports. HP / Dell motherboards for e.g are very, very basic, have a locked down BIOS and you can't overclock, and they lack a lot of SATA ports for example.

With new parts you can typically get 1-2 years warranty on most of your stuff and the parts are 'generally' of higher quality.

        • @scrimshaw: I know I am just blinded by the savings.. I mean even if I can ride it for half the warranty time I'm golden if the savings are more than half price.

        • +2

          @AlienC:

If you don't mind SFF form factor then go for it, just bear in mind the case is not roomy and there's not much you can fit inside it. There are of course Optiplexes that are full sized but they are not as widely available.

        • @scrimshaw: I am trying to consider just stealing everything but the case and psu. Then adding a 1060 new power supply and case.

$320 for a 9000+ passmark cpu/mobo and 16gb ram and 1tb HDD is golden.. the other stuff is just a bonus and could even be resold. I'll probably keep the DVD drive for you know just in case.

Add in a tv and I'm set. What do you think scrimshaw man.

Cheap sub $1000 gaming pc and 4k Netflix and youtube.

Edit: oh wait will I need a new motherboard too?

        • @AlienC motherboard is probably proprietary so won't fit in standard cases. For 320 you can get complete PC s on ocau forums and Facebook swap groups.

        • @dabell: that do what I wanted above?

        • @scrimshaw:
Also many of these SFF are rather noisy for HTPC applications..

      • I just got one for 110 (auction). 140 is about right though.

For gaming i'd go for a second gen i5 2500.

reason is that the i7 is overkill and because the PSU in these units and the fact that they are low profile cases, the best GPU you can put in currently in the market is the 1050TI which would not bottle neck a i5 2500 anyway. so might as well get the desktop for cheaper.

2nd gen i5 units can be had for <200 delivered.

    • Wait are you saying above a 1050ti would show no effect with a i5 2500 system

      • I believe hes saying, with a low profile case like this, the best GFX card you'll find that fits is the 1050Ti. With that in mind, i7 is overkill as it is not powerful enough to cause a 2nd gen i5 (e.g. i5 2500) CPU to be a bottleneck

        • What if you buy or use a new case?

        • EDIT: duplicate

        • @AlienC:
Then you may also need to consider getting a beefier power supply that can handle/support your beefier GFX card (> 1050TI).

        • @v00d00 AU: so anything worth salvaging from this for making a budget gaming pc that can play doom 2016 at 1080p 60 fps?

  • Id say the normal price for this is around $350 going by other ebay sales

  • +1

So is it 8gb or 16gb RAM?

You say "16 Gig Ram" in title, but in description it says "and 8 GB DDR3 SDRAM."

    • +2

I copied the description and title from the listing, but somehow missed that, best bet is to message seller.

  • thanks for the heads up….i'm going to buy a lesser RAM version, since i've been looking for a cheap SFF solution that will take the 32gb of ddr 3 i have sitting here for a XenCenter box.
