NetGear Arlo Pro VMS4430 Wi-Fi Wireless Home Security System 4 Surveillance Camera for $980 Delivered @ Futu Online eBay

230
PTECH20

Ozbargain favourite wireless CCTV system, cheapest I've seen it for local stock. I've got a 5 camera setup at home and it works well. Hardly Norman has this at $1399 so this would be ~40% off.

  • VMS4430 is coming up at $1225, minus 20% ($245) = $980 for me?

VMS4330 seems a good deal, $740 for three cams, this was going in previous deals for $800.

  • not anymore, they jacked up the price to $1225 already, like 10mins ago.. ended up now is $980, please revise.

futu monitor ozbargain soon as something gets enough traction they up the price immediately, another store that should be banned from ozbargain

    • They must be monitoring the site closely, the bumped up the price in no time…

    • Nice, looks like a few people got in before the price hike.

  • Hmm, reading this guy's humourous review, it's not encouraging:
    https://www.productreview.com.au/p/netgear-arlo-pro/m/vms443…

Amazon reviews seem to highlight multiple issues as well:
    https://www.amazon.com/Arlo-Pro-Security-System-Siren/dp/B01…

Looking at reviews, they suggest these are super easy to steal and there is a significant lag between when motion is detected and recording starts.

I've had the Pro with three cameras for a while and I highly recommend it for people who don't want to drill in walls to wire the cameras.

Assuming you are installing outside the house I would recommend buying a mounting kit for each camera (cost is between $15-$20) to ensure it is screwed into the wall.

You can control motion sensor sensitivity to minimise the delay between motion being detected and the video being recorded. There is a lag on live video streams which is a bit inconvenient but the most important thing is that the motion is captured.

Finally, there is free rolling 7 day cloud storage of captured video (with the option to pay to extend this period).

Overall an excellent product not only for security but also to help manage deliveries when not home (eg was overseas recently and, through a notification on the iPhone app, noticed that a postie had left a package on the porch. I then asked my neighbour to keep it with them for safe keeping until I returned home).

      • "You can control motion sensor sensitivity to minimise the delay between motion being detected and the video being recorded."

        How?

The motion sensitive option I see is a scale from 1-100. When I set it to almost everything is captured, when I set it to 1, almost nothing is….However no matter what is detected….There is still that lag/blockiness that everyone is complaining about in the reviews

Good old price jackers… hopefully Amazon AU will shut down these sort of eBay shenanigans!!

Good camera setup though.. recommended thanks OP.

  • Night vision would be handy but I still prefer my free setup: the Alfred app and and a few unused smart phones, which appear to do almost the same thing… and maybe some things better.

    • HD Video - yep
    • Rechargeable - yep but phone will need charging much sooner
    • 2-way Audio - yep
    • Smart Siren - not smart, I wouldn't want that anyway but possible to operate yourself remotely, even better if you hook up some speakers to the phone. You can even rig up a flood light to the phone
    • Live Streaming - yep
    • Weatherproof - possibly
    • Night Vision - not integrated, only software based
    • Motion detection - yep and by the reviews, Alfred is possibly better
    • Cloud storage - yep

Phone can also operate when wifi is down via mobile network. Can monitor multiple cams via browser https://alfred.camera/forum/t/how-to-watch-live-feed-from-mu…
