More great offer from Lenovo with these 15.6" ThinkPads. Use promo code OZFRENZY at checkout, and both expires this coming Sunday (20 August).

E570p is probably one of the cheapest laptop you can get with quad-core mobile CPU + NVIDIA GTX1050ti (although only 2GB DDR5). It's slightly heavier, has no VGA port and otherwise similar design to E570.

3 year premium + onsite support is also 50% off at $109.45 extra.

  • go for 570p. Hope they can make it less then 1k

    • With cashback it would be less than $1k. I know the code is not listed on CR but finger crossed that it should be okay.

      • +1

The Cashrewards Chrome extension says 8% cashback on Lenovo.

        • They might have changed the rate during the day today. We fetched their rate at 12:10am everyday.

      • When the EOFY deal was posted for the e570p, I ordered via CR not expecting it to be paid given the code was not posted via the CR site but thought it couldn't hurt. Just checked my CR account and it was approved and I have received a CR payment of $76.30 (I upgraded to the 256Gb SSD) :)

    $1,337 for the 570p w/ a 1TB HDD and 3yr premium + onsite support. LEET.

  • +3

might be of interest to amex customers, the E570p can be upgraded to 512gb ssd for an extra $50 to combine with the $250 cashback.

edit: although i still think the DEALS coupon is better value $1,479.00 before cashbacks

    • Thanks. I have the AMEX cashback and with all these codes, trying to working out what is the best way to maximise combos without overspending on the inflated options.

  • any deals on the E470 ?

    • +1

Like last week? Not sure when the next promotion is going to come.

  • +1

Man it's hard choosing something from all these laptop deals. I need a portable game dev machine but want to spend as little as possible but don't want to limit myself.

I'll be using a bunch of programs - 3ds Max (possibly Maya soon), Photoshop, Unity and Substance painter mainly.

Help me. I'm also a student so maybe they're some decent discounts I don't know about?

    • +1

The E570p is probably the best game dev laptop you'll get without too many limitations.

You will probably want to at least upgrade to 16GB RAM though. Using 3DS Max/Maya, Photoshop and Unity at the same time will easily max out the 8GB.

If you're doing anything CPU based like light building/World Machine, I'd also look into upgrading to the i7 as the i5 only has 4 threads.

    • The asus deal looks pretty good. Refurb though

    • +1

I'd suggest staying with the i5, the i7 has HT but this counts for little, the main limiter will be the thermal envelope.
I doubt the tiny increas HT brings will help or be worth the extra bucks.
DIY SSD and RAM upgrade will cost hundreds less if you're confident enough to do it.
Tis important to know what size M.2 slot this has, if it physically fits and intel 600p is great value regardless of what the naysayers say, sure, you can get a faster SSD, but the intel is fast enough, is cheap and their SSD's have always been the most reliable.
Checking prices, the lenovo 16GB option is actually not a complete ripoff, go with it.

For those interested, this coupon results in $250 saving regardless of the config. Slightly better value than the LENOVO15 (15% off over $1500) for my setup. Love your work Scotty!

I would go for the 570P and throw a bigger SSD in

Anyone have the E570p? What battery life do you get when web-surfing on wifi with reasonable brightness? TIA.

    • I'd like to know too please. From what i read though 47Wh should be good for 7.5hrs according to some specs sheet i saw a few days ago. Real world i would take 4/5hrs + a being good enough.

      • Unfortunately, it's more like 2-3 hours (with battery saver ON and almost full brightness)

      • I can manage about 6 hours. Just using it for oz bargaining with 70% brightness, wifi on. Backlight keyboard also turned on. Didn't bother with setting it to battery saver mode.

For some reason, the Realtek wifi chip in it drops out all the time. I might open it up and replace it with an Intel chip.

Thanks for the replies. But that's the trouble with battery reports. They are so extremely wide. One person says 2 hours, the other person says 6 hours. Reviewers on websites are often not very clear about it either. Makes me want to get something with huge battery just to be sure.

        • +1

@worldwidehappiness: If you don't need near full brightness turned and can live with 60 to 70% brightness then trust scrimshaw's estimate of 5 to 6 hours

  • How hard is it to throw in extra ram and a 1TB HDD at a later date?

    • +2

couple screws and pop the back off pretty easy 2/10 difficulty

      • +1

Thanks for that, (profanity) paying $179 for 1TB!

  • These look like great bang for buck machines.
The realtek WiFi is a bit meh, but should do fine.
The charger is way OP, 135W for a 47Wh battery? Something half the size would be plenty.
Bring on USB C 3.1 charging already!

  • which one has the better CPU 570p or 570 ? CPU Core i5-7300HQ (6788 CPU Mark) Core i7-7500U (5230 CPU Mark) whats the minium spend for amex cash back and can you do split payments? will tax invoice be issue in aust with gst so we can claim it back at airport?

    • Higher CPU Mark score is better.

  • For everyone ordering…i ordered mine from last deal on 6th and they pushed the delivery back to 31st just today

  • I got the e570p a while ago with another one of the deals. Upgraded to 256GB SSD factory, and bought and installed a 1TB HDD myself. Great laptop, no complaints except battery life while streaming video is roughly 3 hours with screen on 100%.
Might be the hdd using a lot of the battery to be frank though.

    • Thanks for that. How long just general use? surfing/docs editing etc…
The battery is a lot less then the Dell deal so am tossing up between.

      • +1

I have core i7 version with 16 gb ram. Overkill for surfing but definitely great for video edits, Gimp and gaming.

      • +1

I haven't used it enough to be able to tell you, sorry.
At best guess it might be 5-6 hours? Take that with a grain of salt though. It does charge very fast, which is always nice

  • How long is their delivery time?
I am flying out on 25th, If I can get it before 25th then I can claim TRS as well :)

    • 2 weeks turnaround the last time I bought from Lenovo. So if you are flying out next Friday — not likely you are going to get it.

      • Thanks Scotty. I just had a chat with Lenovo and they also confirmed the same. (6-9 days to ship + 3-5 days delivery).

  • Too bad this doesn't come with thunderbolt. I would love to daisy chain a couple of monitors.
