This is the cheapest I have seen it. Currently cheaper than JB Hifi despite their "Sound sale".

A few stores out of stock.

I'm new to this game but surely $1100 for a 2.1 soundbar is hardly normal ?

      You are new, it's not $1100, it's $1098.

    • It is cheaper than the Samsung version. But like everything, because Dolby Atmos is pretty new to soundbars, it is still expensive.

The real question here is "Do I need a Dolby Atmos Sound system". Need the right equipment to output this format. But I am thinking if I buy this I will be future proof and won't have to upgrade again for 5 years.

  • Wow. Just wow.

It's because it's one of the first bars to support Dolby Atmos. Not worth it of course, wait for the 5 or 7 variants to come later.

    • There is a few now, including Samsung HW-K950

    • Check out the Yamah YSP range with atmos

I bought a $200 2.1 sound bar about 4 years ago. Still very happy with it!

    • Haha yeah I just bought the base LG model for $160… good enough for me! Especially when I have young kids sleeping in the next room, don't really need earth shattering sound. :D

Buy it at the good guys for $1299, next day ask for a pricebeat and they will refund you the difference plus the few % "beat"

    • This is gold!

    • Total will be $1057.80 by doing that. Nice one. But now reading the comments I am wondering if I should really drop $1k on this

      • I definitely wouldn;t and i believe it's jsut a hype but everyone has to decide for himself.

        • I can't see how you will get anything worth while from this setup. Atmos is awesome but i think you need to get a full setup. Save up your money for a proper setup. Disclaimer: I've never liked sound bars.

  • For the questions around the Atmos soundbars and justification of price, just note that a lot of user reviews for this model and Samsung one have been negative. This is because a lot of factors decide how well the sound being bounced off the ceiling is heard (eg: size, seating distance, roof height, roof texture etc).

You have to be crazy to drop over a thou on a soundbar. I know some people have big size restrictions but this surely is not the answer

  • Could get the Samsung HW-k950 for $1300 during the ebay sales last week.

I bought a Yamaha sound bar a few years ago when the technology was just coming out, weighs a tonne but still works flawlessly and it was around $900 at the time. I would think about upgrading but Atmos is still fairly new.

Same here, got an Yamaha YSP-1400 like 3 years ago. Still going strong.

  • This is being sold out at most Sydney stores.

  • I bought a YSP 2700 recently, love it. Worth every cent, I think I paid $1100.

  • how does 2.1 become dolby atmos? surely minimum is a 4.1 soundbar with 2 of them firing upwards to qualify as a dolby atmos

    • Could this be a HN mistake. LG website says 5.1.2 speaker channels

      • That makes more sense

  • Just bought the bose Soundtouch 300 soundbar for $770.00 from the ebay deal. Hope I'm not regretting it.

LG in my opinion is Re-inventing Dolby atmos. Firstly there should be a minimum distance between the two upward firing drivers. Next, it should be placed at the rear of the sitting area preferably right above your chair or next to it but close. Neither of which is addressed by this unit.

  • I could go to my local Atmos cinema 120 times for same price - and
I wouldn't have to clean up my popcorn after. (Atmos is just for movies, right ?)

    • No, Netflix has some titles with Atmos. i.e Okja, BLAME!, Death Note, Bright and Wheelman etc.
This is selling out like hot cakes. It's all sold out in my surrounding stores.

  • Silly question but say I've already got a 5.1 setup. Is it not possible to buy 1 or 2 upward-facing speakers to add to this setup, along with a new AV receiver?

If so can someone direct me to said 1 or 2 upwards-facing speakers…

  • Why spend this much on a 2.1 system when you can get something like a q acoustic 5.1 surround sound system for the same price?

    • Because my partner hate speakers and power cords! So have to go minimalist otherwise psycho will go around and unplug the stuff…. apparently too many speakers looks tacky….

      • Q acoustic 3000 series in white looks classy to me. Maybe show those to your partner first.

Alternatively go the bose 5.1 route although thars a bit more expesive.
