Sony MDR-1A Headphones - €100.13 (~AU$149.20) Delivered @ Amazon France ($399.95 Retail Australia)

240

Well reviewed headphones, hard to beat at this price. $399.95 is the local RRP. Price is a direct conversion, most credit cards attract a 3% currency conversion fee which needs to be factored into the price.

    Thanks OP!
Going to pull the pin as i've had my eye on these for a while - does anyone know if it's cheapest to pay in Euro or AUD ? (I don't have a fancy 28c card or anything like that)

    • +3

General rule is to pay in the store's local currency. Amazon's own currency conversion rates are pretty bad.

    • Get yourself a 28° card, or a Bankwest Zero Platinum, or if you don't want a creditcard, get a Citibank Debit Plus card. You're crazy if you pay currency conversion fees, or if you allow Amazon to convert for you.

  • Can vouch for these headphones. Bought them about 18 months ago for $220 and they were worth every penny - super comfortable, sturdy and really great sound quality. ~$150 is a steal!

  • Cheers OP great find :)

Hey that's pretty sweet. It goes from the listed EUR 99 down to EUR 82.50 + delivery in the checkout because it's tax free for us Australians. Also thanks OP, i have ordered. Plus vote for you. What a bargain.

  • they increased the price to EUR149 for the silver and restricted the black shipping to Aust to unavailable.

    • You were looking at a third party sellers deal. I added the black to the cart using Amazon France own deal through this link and it ships to Australia. Just the price has sky rocketed to EUR 134 or $193.15 AUD delivered for the black. The Amazon currency converter itself is wanting to slug $200.17 AUD delivered for that, what a ripoff. Any way. This deal is over.

  • Yes. The price has gone up to EUR 134 or in the cart as $193.15 AUD delivered. This deal is over. Glad mine is being shipped out today and ING Direct charged me $149.13 AUD which is not bad. The banks own conversion rate is always way better than the Amazon currency conversion rate.

Any way. This deal had to of been the bargain of the month. An absolute steal.

Got to be quick with Amazon!

      • Yeah when it comes to Amazon a deal can be there one day and gone the next. Heck even it could be there one hour and gone the next. But a brand new Sony MDR-1A headphone for $149 delivered is a real steal. Australian RRP $399.95 so is not really a cheap headphone here with Australian local prices.

  • The tracking which i got for this (says is carrier i-parcel) has it departing Dunstable, Central Bedfordshire, GB. So it looks like this stock is coming shipped from the UK, not France.

  • I just got this today and they are amazing. The sound is even better than my Marley Destiny TTR headphones. It doesn't have noise cancellation but are great for home use. Really comfortable too and lighter than i thought it would be. $150 was a big steal for these.

    • Ah, I regret not grabbing a pair. I will when they drop down to this price again. I have a set of Sennheiser HD600's, but could use a decent set of closed backs.

      • Yeah, you must have not buyers remorse. It went down again to $149.15 delivered for both the black and silver colour versions (due to fluctuating currency conversion rates) from Amazon France literally two weeks after this thread deal. So there was an extra chance to get it. It was a deal of the day that's why.

Now i have no idea if it will be at this price again. But these sort of deals only come around only once or twice in a blue moon.
