3 to13mm Drill Bits for $1 at Supercheap Auto, Click and Collect, Save Up to $27.64ea (for The 13mm)

1530

Looks like Supercheap is clearing out some drill bits, great price, especially for the larger sizes. I managed a full set between my two local stores but stock likely varies from store to store.

This is part of Father's Day deals for 2017.

    Done. Im there tommorrow

  • delivery $7.95 otherwise.

Site seems to be getting hammered….

    • +1

It was slow beforehand as well.

      • +5

Ok, so the site isn't getting drilled because of this deal then?

        • Think it's hammer drilled

    • Might want to look for carbide tipped instead.

  • +1

Any one know this brand? Are they any good? I can only find them on NZ Bunnings.

    • Same. Ghost brand.

    • Found some reviews saying they're the same manufacturer as P&N, and some people claiming they're good. Seems to be made in NZ.

      • Choice work!

Maybe its Suttontools frost branding name for NZ.

Or a branding change? These are on sale maybe they will bring them here. Who knows.
        https://www.bunnings.com.au/frost-13-piece-imperial-high-speโ€ฆ

        • Didn't sqeeksqeek just say his research said they were P&N? Thats a brand that I have seen if you haven't heard of them, or am I missing something?

        • @Jackson: Sorry mate? P&N is Suttontools they are owned by the same company. While looking on there website it does not list Evacut as a Suttontools brand.

        • @aussieprepper: oh ok, could just be an arrangement SCA has to rebrand them

        • @Jackson:
Evacut is not a SuperCheap Auto brand and it's available elsewhere, it's just another product from SuttonTools P&N.

getting hammer on their server . slow as hell. I want a set!

  • +1

    needed some thank you :)

  • Why can't I pay and pick them up on Monday?

    • Pretty sure you can, I've ordered stuff and they called me a week or so later to remind me it was there to pick up, I don't think you can specify a date, but they will pick it and keep it behind the counter for you.

  • +3

I don't have a drill but have ordered!

    • -1

I love using my drill, especially in hammer mode.

      • Ah thats where I know you from, a Benassi bros film clip

  • Looks like excellent value!

However, the box set of these bits goes from 13mm down to 1mm in 0.5mm increments, and has 25 bits.

So there are a few missing - and nothing under 3mm.

    Still worth buying though!

Any suggestions for a box for them?

    • +2

Drill holes in a block of timber, put bit in each respective hole and label

      • That's a bit high tech, isn't it? :)
I'll still end up losing them if I do that.
I was thinking of a cool plastic or metal number!
Looks like a frustrating time on Ebay tomorrow!

        • Share your finding please :D

        • Wrap said block and bits in gladwrap and alfoil

  • +3

This will save me quite a bit.

    • The 7 that I bought cost me heaps. I now need to buy a drill

    • but a hole in your wallet.

  • +3

    Thanks @tryagain for the post.
45min to process the order but well worth it.
    Cheers

  • Their website is a disgrace, unable to handle a small amount of traffic without slowing to a halt.

  • +1

argh, was just about to pay and the 13mm sells out. such a junk website. impossible to do click and collect as no stores have them all. (even 1 hr ago)

    • I had to do two different stores but both are pretty close to me.

      • +1

All well and good when it doesn't take 3minutes to refresh the cart everytime you click something.

  • +2

All the big sizes gone and no close stores to me.

  • +1

    Website ozbargained?

  • +2

wow been waiting for the cart to finsh, taken 30 minutes still not finished wtf

  • Thanks OP ๐Ÿ‘
Pity I only have a 10mm chuck, so no 13mm for me. But filled in my collection with 5 rarely needed larger sizes below that. Ordered from 2 stores due to lack of stock.

Fast enough ordering on mobile site - a few minutes for 2 orders.

Had SCA club credit from a price reduction to spend, so effectively was free๐Ÿ˜€

Bought 50 pack of 1-3mm for around $3 from China - to back up the my good bits I kept breaking. Will see how they go.

    • These don't look like them, but some years ago I bought a 13mm but and the end of the shank was only 10mm so worth keeping an eye out for the images (although as mentioned doesn't look like these are like that)

      • Thanks. The larger sized drills are not ones I have much need for, but at $1…

I'm used to enlarging holes with set of round files. For large holes in wood, I've got very old but sharp manual brace & bit set.

  • +1

What, now it says all sold out :(

    • Not what it's showing for me. Some stores are sold out of some stock. Will depend on location & local stock.

      • yer its all just a real mess I pondering if its worth it….

        • Even when stock is available for order, it may not be in store. Have complained when they did not have item purchased & they have delivered it free when couldn't find local stock for order.

        • I gave up….

  • Thanks OP. got close to a full set of what they were offering. 18 bits all up. Could never get the order to complete on the iPad so had to go to my phone to get it to submit.

  • struggling to get it to the cart & checkout

    • managed to get a set over 2 different stores (just so happens to be 10 from each!)

  • God what an awful website… I can't imagine we're causing THAT much extra load. How big is the demand for drill bits here?

    • +1

Try the mobile site. It was fast enough when I ordered. (5 bits in 2 orders in 5 minutes)

      • Thanks for the tip, Infidel. The mobile site is also slightly slow, but it did go through and I bought 10 bits from two different stores.

  • WTH! I got to the payment step and when I click on PayPal button, it says "Please wait. Your cart is updating" and nothing happens. Aggh!

  • Bunnings has an Irwin hi- speed metal set of 15 bits 1.5 thru 10mm for $35.85 at the moment (price hipster)
    Just over $2 a piece
Not as good a price but a lot more smaller sizes that snap the most
I'd be interested to know which is a better metal bit?

  • FFS… Everytime I hit go, it'd tell me something was out of stock. Take 10 minutes to reload, tell me that something else was out of stock. Flap off…

  • This took nearly an hour to go get through.
Managed to get 17 drill pieces. Accidentally duplicated 1 of them, but (profanity) trying to remove that from the cart. Not worth the 10 minutes to save $1.
    Thanks Op

  • +1

Well - I've just finished my order, but what a dogs breakfast.
I decided to order all 20, as that fits in well with my Hitachi range of bits, which is a set from 1mm to 6mm with multiple copies of the smaller bits.
Went through the process - all nicely in the cart (I'd checked to see that they were all in stock at my local store).
Order placed - only 13 in stock there!
Ended up spreading my order over 3 different stores to get the 20 bits - all within 6 klm luckily!
And then a server error in the middle of the whole thing!
I'll phone my local store tomorrow and talk them into transferring the whole order to there.
90 minutes of angst and very bad language!

I forgot to add - thanks OP - you saved me lots of money!

  • Still, no drill jokes?

    • +4

      Yes, a bit boring๐Ÿ˜€

    • You missed mine but this could be a promising thread.

  • Spent 20 minutes getting them into my cart only to find it then checks stock levels… Nearly every size out of stock.

    Never again sca.

    • yeah their website cart is soooooo bad. gave up on my phone and moved to my PC… trying again.

    • +1

Ah, over 8 hours late to a popular deal… and limited clearance stock ran out ๐Ÿ˜ฑ

OP warned right from the start we would probably need to split orders to find stores with stock. SuperCheap stores usually had low stock of drills. Many stores I tried were out of stock near start of deal. Large major stores seemed the only ones with much stock. Very limited now.

The tricks learnt from many online orders during SCA Club free $5 credit deals…
For faster orders use mobile site as suggested in comments. Had no problems on Android phone last night & now. SuperCheap site seems to be always slow.

Then open each product in separate tab, add all to cart & then choose stores which could supply most of order, remove out of stock for desired store, order. Close tabs for ordered items.
Then come back to those open tabs, add to cart, change to store with most stock…

SuperCheap system is always a pain.

  • My 3 orders (6 bits at 2 stores) are ready for pick up ๐Ÿ˜€

  • +1

Just wondering, why are individual drill bits so expensive? Is it better than buying in a set of 20-30 from Bunnings? etc

    • just check what a single 13mm costs elsewhere. Ok this one is not reduced shank so check your chuck.

    • +1

Our system of economy is based on getting the most you can, not what a reasonable price. If drill bits are expensive, that means to shoppers the (perceived) value of the drill bit is higher than the price SCA are charging. Pricing is a very weird mix of things, and gets complicated fast.

To better answer your question, there is no natural reason for them to be so much. Drill bits of this quality don't take much to produce. You can get them on ebay for like 10 for $3 for the smaller sizes (considering how frequent the really small ones break, a better option). This deal is really better for the bigger ones, or buying multiple of the same size, or to fill missing parts of a set.

      • +1

        Fantastic answer, thanks.

        • My pleasure :)

  • Because you only tend to break one at a time out of a set and they know they can sting you
Stratco are now doing a set of 25 for $18

    • no stock anywhere (including online) I was told by the store.

  • +1

Don't forget CR 4% cashback takes it to $0.96 per bit :D

    • i only got 20c back from $10 worth of drills
      doesn't add up!

      • Even if CR exclude GST from the total it would be 36c.

        • That's because it's 2% not 4%.

        • @tryagain: Even though the website says 4%…

        • @sween64: So it does, their browser addon says 2% so there is obviously an error somewhere.

      • My CR email expects the cash back to be 16c, 4% of the $4 I spent.

        • every cent counts… now i feel rorted =(

  • None left at Loganholme, Loganlea, Browns Plains, Beenleigh, Labrador, and Ashmore.

  • I managed to get the 7, 9.5 and 10.5mm bits from my local. I can't find the 13mm anywhere close to me in Nunawading, VIC. Thanks tryagain.

  • I ordered to click and collect last night but I still haven't received a email yet so I don't think I'm going to get them.

    • +1

I also ordered for click and collect and they told me this morning that they ran out of stock and offered to deliver to my house from their warehouse. :)

      • Ordered 16pcs last night for pick up and got a call this morning from local SCA 13mm and 3mm are not available. Alternate option was to pick two more from available stock or a 2$ refund.

  • Looks like this has been ozbargained already ๐Ÿ˜‚

  • +1

    Ozbargained! Nothing left

  • I had most of it in cart but I gave up as it was hopeless….

  • Marked as brodened expired.

  • now, the "Add to cart button" just says "undefined" when you click on it.

  • What a brilliant deal.
I got lucky at one of their stores late yesterday.
Now need to get a drill with a bigger chuck.
The things you do when you love ozbargain!

  • A far[er] nearby store (10k) had two bits in hiding in a clearance bin. When checked with helpful staff the bits were cleared on opening and all stores on that side of town the same. Thanks op,

I also collected 3 stocking fillers of bolt and screw 'super metal cool games' being small spanner and screwdriver for of mecarno type fittings of bolts, wheals screws and fittings 38 to 45 parts. Making one of each go cart, crane and thingimegig . [not able to find on S/c web site to share picture sorry] at what i thought a good price of $2

  • +1

just got a email saying order refunded… as i had placed 2 orders at 2 different stores, one offered to send to me while other I didn't even get a message

  • +1

    Dang!

My online oeder for delivery got cancelled and just got the email from paypal it is refunded. :( dang…

  • +2

I got my order shipped yesterday with tracking yet I got fully refunded today.
Will be interesting to see if the order turns up at all.

It may have used up the $11 SCA credit I had applied though. :S

  • Honestly really pissed off at the complete lack of professionalism shown lately by SCA. Just got a refund email from Paypal and SCA doesn't even have the decency to email and explain this in ability to fulfill my order.

Really annoying as I spent 20mins or so finding each of the bits that was available in my local store and they can't take a few moments to put together an explanation for what I'm sure affects the majority of folks who bought via their online store. Very poor.

This on the back of their 'relisting' of the Calibre spotlights on Ebay that they again canceled orders of.

And just to show they're on a roll with me - I just found a refund gift card they'd issued me for ~$40 evidently wasn't activated properly by the instore sales twit - and doesn't work - 3 days after I've emailed their customer service advising this no reply.

  • +3

Just got a refund emali also. Poor form on their behalf, but sort of glad considering I think these were overpriced to begin with, and I didn;t really need them. I'll never get the hour back it took trying to submit the order though!

  • Thank you for your recent Supercheap Auto online order!

Unfortunately these items are deleted lines and should have been blocked on our website for online purchase as stock levels were minimal and sold out through our retail stores.

The issue between our inventory file and the website database causing the listing to remain is being investigated.

As a result, we have had to cancel and refund your order.

We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience caused.

    Kind regards,

    Supercheap Auto

  • +4

Got refunded. I spent ages buying these at 1am. Mother (profanity)

  • Also same, got tracking number etc, then order cancelled. The email I got from PayPal isn't even for the amount I paid, do PayPal charge for refunds now? It's only $1 but jeez it's not my fault SCA screwed up.

Edit: wait, I think SCA have screwed up the refund and typo'ed the amount wrong. I'll have to contact them. Check your statements people.

  • yup, got the deleted line, low stock refund email too.
