  • How long does the battery last?

    • The battery last around 8-12 minutes depending on how hard you go on the throttle :)

      • And how long to charge?

        • +1

          Around 45-60 minutes.

        • +2

It'll be a much better car if you buy a 2S LiPo battery.

LiPo's take around 1hr to charge.

    • my son has a different one, different brand.

His 3500mAh battery lasts 10 minutes if flat out all the time, more like 15 minutes if driven on a track with obstacles.

If i was to spend $300 i would look at entry level petrol car

Petrol-powered cars are definitely not for everyone. More power for sure - but also a lot more noise, more complicated to maintain, more dangerous due to flammable liquids, less reliable and far more messy with oil build-up etc.

Electrics are simple, clean and relatively quiet, and you can just switch on and go.

      • +1

That's why I got mine as an electric (and paid quite a bit more all-up)! It's simple, I can pick it up and use it pretty much whenever and straight away (got a big LiPo and keep it charged up), and it still shreds most other cars. Also I kinda drove it into the river once and was pretty happy I had sealed electronics!

      • "More power for sure" - nope, not "for sure". A good brushless/lipo setup running 6s/8s will eat almost any petrol car. Have a look at some youtube clips of the Traxxas XO-1 or E-Revos or X-Maxx running 8s. All ready to run out of the box. XO-1 is rated at >160kph and 0-100 in 2.5sec.

        • The product in in this deal, with NiMH or 2s battery and what appears to be a brushed motor, would have significantly less power than an entry level nitro car, which was the suggested alternative.

Anything is fast if you strap a ridiculous motor and massive ESC on it, and then jam 30V up its bum. But to make this product seriously fast, you'd have to replace the entire electronics and driveline, and it would cost close to triple the price of this deal.

I did petrol when i started with RC.
so bloody difficult to maintain, so fiddly, and dirty.
Electric, specially brushless with lipo, are hassle free.
why would anyone buy petrol ys beyond me.

      My e-revo could do 100+km/h

Think Tesla model S vs pretty much every other petrol car ever made.

    • I think you mean nitro.

I used to have a few nitro vehicles and wouldn't go near them these days.

Too messy, tuning issues, more moving parts to fail.

With the brushless setups around these days, I don't know why anyone bothers with nitro.

Brushless is faster, cleaner, more reliable.

      • I still enjoy driving my Baja 5SC over my Super 5SC Flux, dat 2 stroke braap!

        • +1

Yeah… the smell and noise is good.

          Cleaning up afterwards sucks.

  • @modelflight Any deals on your beginner level planes for 8 year old kid to play with? I have been looking for a birthday present for my nephew and he has been asking for planes to fly. :)

  • Can it fly.

    • +1

      That depends on the ramp.

  • Had expected brushless at that price …..
