    • some one tried, the cracks just gets larger then u have to put more and more glue/tapes.
you could end up with a weird looking headphone helmet.

Can someone please come up with a 3D printed part that can replace the cracked plastic section ?

  • Thanks, I have been eyeing this headphone for awhile.

If my band breaks after warranty, I will probably just super glue it back together and hope for the best…

  • I shall see you wearing one next time. 😉

Bought one and I have one already! Damn you Ozbargain!😂

    • I almost did the same, but talked myself out of it when I read the comment that a new one is around the corner. But still resisting! Yes, damn you Ozbargain! =p

  • Guys, how effective are noise cancelling headphones at quashing unwanted sounds? Are they only good for chronic, unchanging sounds (eg lawnmower, traffic on busy streets), or can they handle transient sounds like noisy birds or a party music? The idea of neutralizing noise by producing a counter sound wave if a great one.

    • They're best for constant noises such as aircrafts and significant others.

    • Mainly low frequency noise that's following a set pattern. It does not cancel it completely, just reduces the volume and makes it easier to hear what you're trying to listen to. If you turn it up high enough you'll probably not notice the outside noise.

Party music and people talking will be a bit softer, but you will still hear it. Whatever you are listening to though will be easier to hear. You won't have to turn it up in an attempt to overpower the outside noise. It's much more listenable with ANC on outdoors.

But you wouldn't want to watch a movie with it in a noisy environment. You're still going to hear noise around you.

The idea of neutralizing noise by producing a counter sound wave if a great one.

That is how it works, but it isn't perfect and probably never will be. If you are expecting it to completely shut out all outside noise, don't kid yourself.

  • For those considering QC35, this info from Amazon reviewer might be interesting:
    Can you replace the battery?
Answer: I asked the same question directly to Sony customer service and technical support by phone and email. Sony told me that the battery can be replaced but it is built-in and not designed to be user-replaceable—at least not until someone figures out how to hack into them. However, Sony customer & tech support did say the battery can be replaced post-warranty, for a fee, by a Sony authorized repair facility. They gave me a link to the website sony.encompass.com which I'm guessing is how you find service and parts for Sony products. Since I received this information from non-native English speakers, I can't guarantee they completely understood my question or were simply giving me a general answer for all models of wireless headsets. However, I do know that Sony does maintain an extensive network of Sony authorized repair centers for warranty and post-warranty service, so I'm going run with what I was told. I called Bose and Plantronics to see if the battery can be replaced in the Bose QC-35 and the Plantronics BackBeat Pro 2. Both companies say the battery is built-in and not designed to be user replaceable. In addition, neither Bose nor Plantronics offer any post-warranty service option to replace the battery in these headphones. Some models of Bose wireless headsets do have user-replaceable batteries but not the QC-35. This is looking like a deal-breaker for me which is why I'm seriously considering these Sony headphones. If it's any consolation, the newer LiOn batteries in these types of headsets are supposedly very good and are expected to last at least 2 years, with many lasting 3-5 years.

    • QC35 are better

      • To each their own!

  • FXXXXXX I want this one cos it has better sound quality but don't want to take the risk for the headband issue… I guess I'll just go safe with the QC35

  • Price is now USD299.99

  • Was considering these (may still do) - but 3x things put me off:

    1. Potential headband cracking
    2. Unable to switch devices as well as the QC35s
    3. Comfort - with a return 17hr flight coming up, what's the point of these headphones if you can't wear them? Also they felt better on my head with glasses. This can be subjective too!

QC35's are supposedly releasing an updated model as well next month. Should be an interesting time!

Had mine since Jan or Feb and use it daily for hours on end (not good for my ears)

I'm unsure how others treat their products, but I have had no headband creaking/breaking.

    • Maybe you have smaller than standard sized head?

      • I think so, but all my life I've been told what a big head I have :(

        Or maybe I'm just arrogant?

        ¯_(ツ)_/¯

  • just went to the JB Hifi round the corner to check the status of their MDR1000x headphones on display. Thankfully, it didnt have a busted headband although it looked it had been well tested. Looks like i will give it a good go when I first get it to see how it goes.

  • ONLY 300 DOLLAR DO NOT THINK TOO MUCH

    • Don't think too much about the head or the head phones??

  • -1

resell value of this will be even cheaper down the track, fleebay will be full of them soon:) …..so glad i sold mine months ago. It was just uncomfortable after 20min of wearing. the pressure of the headband is unbearable.

  • The only time I didn't check OB… F**k.

    Great price.

  • The seller still not sending out and any problem with it?

    • Mine was sent out 6 hours after I ordered it.

      • I ordered at 27/08 and I can still see the order is Not yet ship and there is no such place that i can contact seller

        • Oh, that's strange. Is the seller "Amazon Export Sales LLC"?

        • Yep Arriving Sep 8 - Sep 13
          Not yet shipped

  • The WF-1000XM2 was announced today. It's US$50 cheaper than the MDR-1000X.

    https://www.cnet.com/au/products/sony-wh-1000xm2/preview/

The main differences look to be improved noise cancelling, 30-hour battery life, a "listening position" feature, and presumably… a redesigned headband.
