HelloFresh - Free Box (Qantas Assure) - New Customers Only

6011
FRESH100QA07

Completed 60,000 steps-per-week challenge for 4 weeks with Qantas Assure x Hellofresh and was given a promo code for a free box.
Box arrived yesterday and got my groceries sorted for the week.

Code seems generic and sure enough, worked for a new account.

Delivery area excludes Tasmania and Western Australia.

Enjoy :)

  • is it New Customer only?

Do these guys just not learn from mistakes with generic coupon code :v

  • Says invalid coupon for me.

    • +3

Must be for new customers - ordered a week of 5 meals, -$109 off.

      • +6

Paying an extra $109 doesn't sound like a bargain.

        • -4

Paid on a prepaid visa card. Good luck to them.

        • @crazycs:

Good luck with the hello fresh food with special added ingredients :P

  • +1

Only for the eastern state tho!

    • You are right, edited.

  • Checkout failed

  • It works for me. I'm a new customer, if that makes a difference.

  • +2

    Works with Classic Box
    Classic Box - 5 meals - 4 people

This will be cancelled like last time.

    • +1

      What happened last time?

      • +36

        They were cancelled.

        • I Got my box the last time too! :D

      • +3

the entirety of OzB got their hands on a generic code and yep every single one was completely cancelled.

        • Not true, I got my box. They did call me up a week or two later asking why I cancelled and if there was anything they could do to keep me.

        • oh wow, i didn't hear of anyone actually getting theirs. i wonder how many they actually gave out

        • I got mine as well. The groceries defiently wasn't worth $100+

  • +12

    Here we go again.

Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me.

    • +2

Fool me once, shame on…shame on you. Fool me — you can't get fooled again

  • +1

Is this legit, can you cancel straight away? It states "After your first charge, your weekly subscription can be modified, paused or cancelled. Your regular deliveries will be charged on a weekly basis. Delivery fee may apply. Delivery fees include GST."

    • I'd like to know this to.

  • +7

Had nothing but dramas from the similar free coupon thing a few days ago.
Got charged the full amount despite the coupon 'redeeming' fine during checkout and showing the accurately reduced cost of -100%.

Been back and forth with their support ever since then trying to get my cancellation and refund sorted. (Of which I'm still waiting for the funds to be reimbursed)
I'd stay away from these type of things personally.

    • +2

      I used a prepaid card!

  • +9

This will be cancelled just like last time. They must be desperate for sign ups if they are resorting to these tactics.

  • +4

Was going to sign up but not after having read these comments.

  • waiting for cancellation email

  • +4

Rolling the dice for some free food! Let's go!

  • +2

Not gonna bother , not worth the hassle

  • Ok, placed order (first time order as well) so 2x5 meals.

  • Took 2 mins prepaid card with $50 left on it … whats to lose!

    • +25

      $50

      • hahaha .. true but try debiting $109 with $50 balance … BOING!!!

  • +3

Have had a bad experience with these guys in the past, and I'm not alone. Maybe it's the postal system/couriers' fault but food was dropped off unrefrigerated and was spoiled by the time I got home. Either way, I don't trust lazy delivery drivers with the safety of my food!

  • +1

This is going to be cancelled again

  • +1

Do not like their selling techniques - one HelloFresh door knocker arrived to my door on a Saturday morning inside my apartment building (knocking on every door in the whole building) and would not leave me alone. Had to eventually shut the front door in her face.

    • +1

      be naked!

      • +2

        • +3

          hello fresh. ;)

        • @Turd: they should be so lucky. lol

  • +1

Will be cancelled again, dont bother. Its a scam to get on your mailing list.

  • Ordered, $1 pending in payments..let"as hope they won't charge $109 for it. :*)

    • +4

      Same

      30/08/2017Auth-Crd Mcht Hello F$1.00

However the card only has $50 in it, so when they do $185, BOOM FAIL

      • Haha, nice one turd.

      • Argh crap, just realised I used a credit card with more than $109:(

  • +6

Who else read the comments and still signed up? :D Optimism!

  • Thanks OP, worked for me, can't wait to see it on Sunday, hoping it's not as terrible as everyone says!

    Worked with the family box!

Got five free boxes sent last year from promo codes, using different names but the same address. Used my first and middle name, the missus' first and middle names, and then finally the cat's name. They got suss and cancelled the cat's box, and I called pretending to be the cat on the phone (even threw in a little meow for laughs). They said they cancelled because my address had been claimed four times before by four different customers, and 'my cat' explained that he was a tenant and it was one big sharehouse. They apologised for the misunderstanding and sent the box the week after. haha

    • +2

      Hahaha hilarious !

      • +1

        and Claw-some.

    • +1

      you gave them Cat-titude.

    • +6

Some good-doers might say you committed a…feliney

    • +1

Thankyou for making me giggle, I've got half a semester of uni to catch up on from being in hospital so I appreciate the laugh :)

    • +1

Lol definitely made me giggle too 😂

  • Yeah. Looks like small business shady tactics to grow.

  • +1

so did you guys cancel right after subscription of the free box? or wait for delivery firsT?

    • Always cancel after delivery… ive managed to get about 5 free boxes in the past from other promos

      • bleh - cancelled already - will let u guys know if i actually get it still.

        confusing with Wednesday 4PM deadline.

        • +2

i deactivated straight away. would rather not get it than get it and than forget and get charged

  • +7

I ordered a box with a new email I immediately contacted HelloFresh through their online chat after the transaction and provided the order number. I asked to confirm if it will be free. HelloFresh said it would.

Judging by the guy before who said that he complained when his cat did get their order, Im sure HelloFresh will honour these orders or will to those who complain the most if cancelled.

Plus there will be loads of Qantas Assure members who have used the code. Wouldnt they be cancelling theirs too?

  • +3

    Extremely dislike this company.

Always hassling in the CBD for signups.

    Terrible value for money

  • +2

good for the lols. Just used my velocity frequent flyer card to sign up. Don't even have any money on it this will be interesting. Edit got an email from global wallet stating the transaction was denied lol. Also gave my work address coz I hate junk mail & fake mobile number. TRIPLE LOL GOT AN EMAIL CNFMING DELIVERY & THE $1 PAYMENT DISHONOURED

  • +8

Since they accept PayPal, I signed up using PayPal and paid the $1, and then immediately cancelled the subscription from within PayPal. So hopefully they send this box and will then be unable to take anything else from my account.

    • +1

How do you cancel the subscription in PayPal?
Edit: thx just saw your comment below

  • Paid Through paypal but seems okay, just need to remember to cancel before next Wed 4pm as you can only cancel or pause after the first box arrival.

Neil the ozbargain admin wrote a review on this and in conclusion it is not worth it.
if you are too lazy and have the money to blow then this might be for you but i think that is going against the ozbargain spirit.

here is a link to the review on the blog: https://blog.ozbargain.com.au/2017/is-hellofresh-worth-the-m…

    • +9

Been here for years, didn't realise there was a blog.

      • haha, i think many people dont know!
i found it one day browsing the ozbargain at work.
i was looking at the stuff at the bottom of the main page and there it was 'hidden' away.

    • I tried it once with a free box using a code from someone on here. Think it was worth about $150.

Don't get it if you are lazy - the food is nice and all, but lots of steps and ingredients means a lot of prep and cooking time, plus lots of cleaning and washing up.

Not even sure I would buy one for $50.

      • Yeah i think if you have the money to blow you are going to just eat out because as you say the hassle of everything else involved in cooking takes too long.

  • +1

Don't waste your time. They haven't honored a bunch of previous promotions.

  • +1

Ok signed up for the discount and was delivered by Alan Joice himself

  • Got a free vego box in the UK once and it might have been the first time I've enjoyed veg food 3 nights in a row! Just ordered a classic box on a prepaid visa card. Hope it arrives!! Wouldn't pay full price for it - way overpriced.

  • Well I'm having a go. Have $2.something on an old debit card. Appears to have gone through for the 5 meals for 4 people box.

  • +1

the delivery times are ridiculous. how does anyone living in an apartment get a delivery? a full day delivery window on the weekend?

  • -1

As good Australians we should support startup businesses, Startups takes lot of efforts & money to establish themselves. Its not good to take undue advantages from such small companies started with spirit to grow & sustain.

    • +3

Not to play the devil's advocate here but OBers here aren't doing anything wrong. This promo is for new users with the purpose of providing a free box so that you will keep your subscription. Although many here may not there are some that might.

    • +12

You mean the small Aussie startup Hellofresh, the German multi-national company which serves 9 different countries?

  • +1

Signed up with paypal to see how it goes. If it works and cashrewards works it will be a $19 profit!

    • Chance of cashrewards being honoured after paying $1 for a $100+ box?

      • Priceless.

  • +2

Lol who would actually pay $109 for a box of ingredients? You could get them at Coles for 3x less and then you can actually decide what you want to eat.

That's even if your box comes, bad experiences, stay away.

  • I tried, invalid now.

    • Ozbargained!

      • +3

Damn, I shouldn't have wasted time reading Ozb comments

        • Me too Lol

        • +1

Rookie mistake, buy NOW think LATER :P

  • This voucher is invalid…

  • +2

I got the first box (5 meals for 2 people) free using a previous referral and now I subscribe. I like it, but I usually skip boxes. I get one every 2 or 3 weeks. You can easily skip boxes or cancel the account on the website or the app. They never called me but if they do I will just block the number as I did with Aussie farmers when they were calling me 3x/day. I hate that. If they have something to offer they should just send an email instead.
I gave a free box to a friend and she got the first box last Sunday. She liked but is cancelling as it's not cheap considering the preparation and cooking process. No problem cancelling. I will try some of the prepared foods this week (Muscle) so I am skipping all deliveries for September. If I like the prepared meals I will probably cancel Hello Fresh, but I like the flavour. I don't like washing the dishes and cleaning the kitchen though.

  • +1

Just got an email titled "Confirmation of your cancellation" which stated "Your deactivation has been processed immediately. After your final delivery on 2 Sep 2017 you will receive no further deliveries."

Looks like they're cancelling the orders, will I still get my first order? I can't see how that would work to their advantage because the only way they'd get money back is if people keep ongoing subscriptions..

Note: I didn't cancel it, i was going to wait until after delivery of my first box

    • +1

I just got the same email mine says the 3Rd of September though :(

    • +4

I also received the same email without cancelling anything. In full it says:

      Hi Xxxxxxx,

A quick note to thank you for giving HelloFresh a go and also that we're sorry to see that you’ve decided to deactivate your Classic Box Classic - 5 meals per week for 4 persons.

      Your last delivery
Your deactivation has been processed immediately. After your final delivery on 3 Sep 2017 you will receive no further deliveries.

Please note that we are not able to ship Fruit or Juice Boxes as standalone orders, and any ongoing subscriptions of these boxes will be cancelled and refunded to you.

Thank you very much and hopefully we’ll be feeding you again soon!

Also, when I login to Hellofresh and check my calendar there is a box scheduled for delivery on 3 Sep and every week's scheduled order after that has been removed (was previously auto-set to weekly order a box when I checked earlier this afternoon). Fingers crossed Hellofresh come through with the goods!

      • +1

If you go to the Orders History tab under Settings is your order still there? Mine was this afternoon but it is empty now after I have received the email.

        • Ahhhh… nope nothing there

        • Yeah same boat, it's still on the calendar but not in orders history. Guessing we probably won't be getting the boxes then, do we wait at home on the delivery date or not..
