"After several people speaking about how the product was effected even a few months ago, I received a V02 version which most likely would of bricked after a reboot or after 18 months. Cisco recommends that these be returned. From previous reviews it seems that this seller had been aware of the issue and still tried to sell the product. Cisco 5506 otherwise is a great firewall and I'm still looking to get one."

:"These are being recalled due to a clock issue. The one I received is a V02, which is affected. Basically after 18 months, if the firewall is rebooted for any reason, it may not come back. If you've ordered this, look around on Cisco's website to try to get a replacement if it's still under warranty."

    • I'm interested in this fw…
Can you tell me where you found the info about the clock issue? From the Cisco website it only lists the 5506, 5506h,5506w,5508,5516 but not the 5506-x
      ?

Edit: sorry saw right at the bottom of the article:
This Document Applies to These Products

      ASA 5506-X with FirePOWER Services

I guess it's a matter of asking the seller what versions they're selling

Or if according to the article over you peruse it it should thereby be under warranty so Cisco will honour the replacement

  • It gets my attention since mine is 5505 and not 1 gb. But what version is the firmware? You cant just download newer version frm cisco site afaik.

    • Not interested anymore. It is a diffrnt family than 5505. It cant be configured as switch like 5505

    • Not interested anymore. It is a diffrnt family than 5505. It cant be configured as switch like 5505

    • you can put 1GB into some 5505's and they run well. depends what version

  • Link dead now.

  • Think there might be some pricing errors. They have Cisco 2960-X's up for $100-$150 that go for $1k+ anywhere else. I ordered two and got a Paypal refund 6 minutes after I place the order :)

    The merchant note was:
"We're sorry to advise that your order was automatically cancelled due to database error. Your order will be refunded in full back to your original payment method. We're sincerely sorry for the inconvenience."

  • I would reckon that this was another pricing error by i-tech. They sure have been having a great deal of them lately.
