    iPhone 5S Gold 16GB

half of which is taken up by the OS

    • +7

Las time I checked it show just over 10gb free space. So no jv its not half.

    • +2

I have a 16 GB iPhone SE and it's fine. It is a bit tight and you need to use the cloud effectively, but I found it fine.

I'm not one of those people whose entire life is my phone though I still use it for personal/work email, taking the occasional photo etc.

      • +1

You are justifying a phone with very little memory by saying your life is not your phone. What if other people like to take lots of videos and photos of their kids. And add a few apps.. Not having a sd slot is a big stupidity as 128Gb micro sd card is about $60 these days.

        • If thats the case then a cloud system is critical.

Mate lost 64gb of family pics froma failed sd card.
I know its not happeneing all the yime but you cant replace what he had taken pics of.
Sure people can say well he should have backed them up but non tech savy people dont think that way of redundantcies.

        • -1

          @Hotkolbas:

how tech savvy do you need to be to back up an sd card

some people just shouldn't own technology

        • @ugoagogo:some people take things for granted and don't expect the worst to happen.

        • mate get the app called Google Photos, high quality unlimited backups!

        • I'm not justifying anything, just saying that it works for me. The reason I mention that my phone is not my life is because for other people, this is not a practical solution.

I've had it for about 6 months ago and it's fine. I take videos and photos whenever I want. I just back it up to the cloud and delete!

          @Hotkolbas:

thats definately true ….. i have 3 backups but im over the top paranoid

Clearing out space for the iPhone 8 stocks?

    • +2

There is a real possibility of a new SE being announced soon.

Rumours out of China said it was being killed off but this may be moreso a local misunderstanding relating to production shifting to India. I believe it's (SE) the biggest selling model of iPhone there, and aligns with contradictory rumours that a new model will be announced soon and priced at $399 USD.

      • I'd say so too cos normally price drops of iPhones are more gradual than what has happened in the past year.

      • "production shifting to India" wow really? did not know cheers

        • +4

Only for SEs though, also that's likely to sell locally in India only to lower the price in the country. Because Indian govt gives rebate on the Tax, if product is manufactured in their country

        • @OzSikh: Also because the Indian government initially banned iPhones from being sold due to them not being built there.

        • @haru: source of this info ??

        • @haru: Thank you for sharing the above link, Bit I couldn't find anywhere where it says that Indian government initially banned iPhones from being sold due to them not being built there

        • +1

@OzSikh: What I meant was that Apple was not allowed to open retail stores and sell iPhones directly unless 30% or more of their in-store products were made locally, hence the production shift.

        • @haru: that makes sense. Cheers

      • I think it's unlikely they will announce a new SE until next March (there was already a storage bump in March 2017); I doubt Apple will want to steal any thunder from the iPhone 8 (and 7s) that gets launched this month.

        • +4

My wish, albeit unlikely, is that it's announced as a junior burger but in lock step and fully part of the 8/7s family, i.e with A11 and similar features in a smaller form factor; instead of remaining an after-thought cousin product for poor people.

        • @LoopyLou: That'd be excellent.

  • +2

the 128gb at only $549 is heaps cheaper than the $642 i paid from mobileciti back in June :\

    • Thanks, post updated

    • +1

And also cheaper than eBay sellers even after 10% discount.

    • +4

To be fair MobileCiti is local stock.

      • yeah, but with a $93 difference, i'm starting to wonder if having AU stock is worth it..

        • Not as much as $93 if you factor in GST.

  • Also iPhone 6 for $389 is only the 16GB version though, cheaper than the telstra @ https://www.telstra.com.au/mobile-phones/prepaid-mobiles/iph… but telstra is 32GB.

    • +5

Don't bother with the 6, it's old tech and slow by today's standards. Better to get the SE or the 6s.

      • +2

I agree, but some people might still want it, so was making the information public.

        • I am a 6 user. It's enough for me. Thanks

        • @StiffHindQuarters: me too! I have a 128 gb bought it second hand and love it. My husband has a 6+ and no problems either. We use it for normal stuff: music apps, Facebook, messenger. We are not gamers and phones have no glitches

        • +1

@StiffHindQuarters: im on IOS 11 Beta 8 with the iPhone6 and ive noticed its just a little bit too slow switching between spotify and google maps when im in a rush so .. its out with the 6 and in with the LG v30

  • Was looking at getting a SE for my second phone.. 369 for 32gb looks alright considering its 1 year worldwide warranty. The only downside is 2 weeks shipping. Any cheaper options locally? Apart from 399. Thanks

    • +3

You'll likely receive it wat sooner than 2 weeks.

There are lot of people here at Ozbargain including me, who reported that they received their orders in 3-5 days. Also, Shopmonk uses DHL Express courier.

    • $30 extra for a second year of warranty and local charger seems reasonable.

I'm waiting for a bit more clarity from the 12 September event (though an SE2 announcement is highly unlikely, I'm okay to wait a week or two nevertheless); and secondly kinda hoping someone drops slightly below $399 so I can snap up a price beat from Officeworks before they match it.

      • Exactly what I'm waiting for.. A price beat.

      • OW and HN have now increased the price.

  • +1

Looks like all 128gbs out of stock :(

    • +1

      Thanks post update

  • Does it come with an AU charger?

    • I don't think so. But they would include an adapter for sure

  • Was gonna buy an iphone 6 for my mom since the 4s has been 4 years at least..

Should I wait for the 8 to come out and opt for a 6s instead?

    • +1

My mum had the white 4s 32gb for over 5 years. She was on iOS5 until recently most apps were notifying her that they will no longer work on iOS5 so we updated to 9 (I think). The phone was lagging and quite slow. Bought her this and she hasn't complained since. Seriously if your mum is only going to use it for messages, calls, photos and videos, there's no need to get a flagship type phone. Yes the G6 is a flagship phone but the cost isn't.

      • It's more of a I'm not too sure if she'll get used to an android. She plays some games here and there, I'll probably talk to her a little to get an understanding.

I'm an android user myself, but just want it to be easier for her haha.

  • +1

Dumb question but SG = Singapore right?

    • +5

Not that dumb, but yes it does stand for singapore.

      • Ok thanks.

SE 32GB is $399 with $30 Telstra starter SIM @HN or OW. I think I'd rather get it locally with an extra year's warranty. I can get 5% off at OW with a staff discount card bringing it to $379.05, and use the $30 credit on Android play store. Even without the 5% off and $30 credit though, I'd still rather pay $30 extra for local stock.

        • I would get it for my Dad but hes not on Telstra, so unlocking fees…

        • @ATangk: Unlocking is kinda free…

When i say kinda, i mean they supposedly should be charging for it, but the majority of the people who contact Telstra via live chat have been able to unlock it for free( myself included, first try too). If you get someone who want to charge you for it, just end chat and try again for someone else. Just use the good old: going oversea wanting to use oversea network explaination.

And if you actually are going oversea, you can claim back $36.27 at TRS making it an even better to buy local.

        • @highdealer:
Im going overseas in a bit over 90 days. If this deal is still on, I guess a month can wait.

Oh and there might be further price drops after announcements

        • Deal finished now $429 at Officeworks, $449 at Harvey Norman.

        • @tranter: Hmm. Guess will have to wait and see what happens after iP8 event.

        • What's the difference between the officeworks $499 iPhone se 32gb and $429 iPhone se 32gb Telstra prepaid? I'm Telstra on a plan so if the phone is Telstra locked does it mean I can just put my Telstra plan SIM card in and it will work?

        • @cruizerdog: yes it will work.

  • +1

Will wait for a week to see what's coming out from apple

  • The item listing shows 'Apple international warranty' and a link to a description of Apple's international warranty conditions, but iPhone warranties are only valid in the country you bought it in. So where the stock comes from matters, and if someone were misled in to thinking the phone has an international warranty they won't be happy to find out it doesn't.

  • Dear rep,
I ordered my iphone SE on 3rd september. still it is under processing. Will you please let me know when will I get my phone

    • yeah how slow is the processing. i ordered on the 6th

  • Should be available on their ebay store today after 10am for $369 again.
