Lol man look at forms it hasn't happened since the LG V10 and G5, there new flagships have not failed. You can say the same thing with Samsung phones, "lol explosions included?"

      • +1

Nexus 5X too. Samsung had an issue with one model. LG has had the same issue with at least three different models. So no, you can't say the same thing about Samsung.

  • +1

Damn I bought it at $495 two nights ago :(

    • +1

Still not that bad for the price.

  • Pity the screen is too big that it wont fit on my Qi charging pad built into my car.

    • +3

No wireless charging on this one. Has the DAC instead.

      • Thanks for letting me know saw a few sites say it did.

        • The American Model has Wireless Charging but not the Quad DAC.

  • +3

I bought mine literally a month ago for $575 with the first hump month 15% coupon code. F*** my life seriously.

At least mine is the colour I wanted (turquoise) although for the $100 saving I'd have it in black.

    Maybe I'll buy another…

    • Dont do it lol, you wallet needs a rest from all these ebay deals. I personal love the colour black.

    • +1

Yeah I paid $535 for my platinum one 2 weeks ago, think it'd be $485 with this deal. Absolutely love the phone so I'm not too miffed :)

      • yeah I am absolutely stoked with it, the Quad DAC is far better than I expected it would be, and the size is literally perfect - the narrower design makes it much easier to use and hold one-handed.

    • +2

      No ragrets.

  • Wished this had a better camera, otherwise S7 bet this due to camera being an important feature for me. If camera is not a worry for you, this is a great buy!

    • Have you seen the camera on this it's great (in my opinion) look at pictures side by side. It even has a wide angle camera….

      • Honestly, I have just read reviews, and every single review said the camera is good to passable compared to the S7. I looked at the comparisons. I really wanted it to have a decent camera at least, but almost every review said the same thing.

    • Actually, I have the S8 and this one. Believe me this one beats the S8 hands down. The only iffy thing about the camera is that some medium light pics are a bit saturated.

      • front cam is much better on the S8 though, for the vain ozbargainers to consider anyway ;)

      • For me it's the other way round. S8 wins but you really have to see the photos fully cropped to notice (other than the different colour temps).

    • I have a S7 edge, so is G6's camera better?

      • -2

It's not better, just with one extra wide angle one if it's any useful to you.

I watched the recent MKBHD camera blind test with my gf to help her choose a phone. Had her pick her favorites from a range of identical photos taken on various flagships, finding out which one she chose at the end. Her current phone is a Panasonic cm1 ridiculous pro camera phone so camera is a priority.

She had the pixel xl first, just edging out the LG g6, over both Samsung s8 and iphone s7+. And that's in identical photos, not even considering the wide angle feature which is pretty great.

It's subjective of course, you could watch that video (do it) and have a different choice. But that's also kinda the point. At this level they're all so good that there's no clear best. I'm just glad she liked one of the cheapest options

      • +1

        My man

      • whats the front camera like? My wife has an older Sony C4, fantastic front camera with a flash too..

    • +1

Agreed. Have had a G4 & G5 and the front camera on this is a significant step down from both models. If this isn't a feature that concerns you then great phone. But its front camera quality is horrid

  • +2

Got the Platinum colour G6 for 484 :)

  • is this 3G/4G dual sim? or 4G/4G?

    • +2

      4 + 3

  • +3

    OMFG what a bargain!

  • Bought one, cheers everyone
Can't wait to take underwater photos ;)

  • +1

What's are people's thoughts on this who have it as a daily driver?

  • Couldn't resist the platinum. Hurry less than 10 platinum's left if interested. Thanks OP, vinay and lithius, great deal.

  • +1

This is why I have a 28 Degrees card… bought it for $566 a few weeks back :)

This way I get to have the phone early, and get the lower price anyway.

Ozbargain + 28 Degrees are a match made in heaven.

    • +1

I dont really get what this card does, mind explaining im interested.

      • Shopping protection. So if it cheaper from the same retailer (iirc within six months) they'll refund the difference.
Need to be careful with the T&Cs. I'm unsure if an ebay discount is included.

      • It's just a credit card, but they offer a feature called 'Price Protection' whereby you pay a % of your statement each month, and in return get 6 months protection on (most) items purchased.

So if you buy something on the card, a few months later it goes down in price, you can claim the difference. There's obviously a bunch of T&C's but I find as long as the item is from the same seller and you get the dates accurate, they'll approve it.

It also covers broken items, never had to claim for that though. Read more here - https://www.28degreescard.com.au/credit-card-features/#insur…

    • I don't think 28 Degrees Card covers the price difference on oversea sellers…

      • Correct - however, it's Ebay Australia. In my experience they approve it anyway. If it was clearly an overseas company you might not have so much luck (i.e. Amazon UK).

    • Do they do price protection on coupon based deals? (Or even just ebay in general)

  • +1

How does this compare to a onplus 3t (which seems to be a similar price)?

    • Same processor, 3t has more ram, g6 is waterproof and dual camera.

    • Get this

    • At this price and for better features (screen, water proof, wide angle camera, etc..) - there is no comparison really …I am tempted but I want my next phone to have wireless charging.

      • +1

I am deciding between both but the 3t has 6gb ram and better battery? These things matter for most people.

        • Yeah, I know what you mean… I have never found myself wishing my phone had a wide angle lense or was waterproof… I have many times wished it had a bigger battery!

        • @el_cheapo:

          That is exactly it :)

  • How the warranty with qd_au?

  • This or the S7 edge for slightly more?

    • +1

Depends what you want. This has a larger screen (with more pixels to make up for it), dual camera setup, slightly better processor, USB type C, dual SIM capability (don't know which S7 you're looking at), maybe more storage too… The S7 would have less bezels on the side, that curved edge screen, less risk of bootloop issues developing since it's not LG… just pick the one you like more.

  • If you're mentioning the platinum, maybe mention the white as well? Also it would be good to note the price difference in the OP. My white one is on the way :D

  • Good recent write up here. https://thenextweb.com/reviews/2017/06/28/lg-g6-long-term-re…

Shame it doesn't pack the 835.

    • They're saving it for the v30, those evil geniuses.

  • In for one. Love my v20 but would rather have the water & dust proof of this one. Seems like a great deal for G6 with the DAC

Now i just need to flip my v20…

    • What is a DAC?

      • Digital to Analog Converter

        https://www.headphone.com/pages/what-is-a-dac

The g6 basically has a DAC and headphone amplifier built into the device with is able to drive high end headphones while on the go. The v20 has the same one and its a great upgrade if you are a music lover

  • +1

Need a sub forum for all the new G6 owners :)

  • Warranty?Band 28?

    • Yes to B28.

Warranty is supposedly good. Sent back to Taiwan and they're quite reputable from comments I've seen on here.

      • +2

Send back to Rhodes or Wetherill Park (it's in NSW for those that don't know Sydney), then they'll send back to Taiwan for repair. You don't have to send it overseas.

    • How about VoLTE? I thought this would be a global thing but I'm with Telstra and haven't noticed any settings for this.. pretty sure it's advertised on the local model.

  • Platinum is $20 more :(

  • +3

    $467.49

eBay has ripped me off. They charged me $467.50

  • And these are from Asia which have the Hi-Fi Quad DAC right, unlike most other countries?

    • +1

yes that's correct. the DAC is absolutely amazing (currently have it in the v20 but jumped on this for the premium upgrade and smaller footprint)

You wont be disappointed, it powers my Phillips fidelio x2's extremely well

      • man v20 then to G6? you jump mobiles quite soon :P

how's the front cam comparing the two? seems like only diff = V20 better with f1.9 vs G6's f2.2. Pity they're both 5MP compared to previous G4/G5 :/

        • dont know yet as i just ordered the g6

And i like the v20 but i do miss some aspects from my galaxy s6 ie the feel of the phone. The g6 should alleviate that and then some. The second screen on the v20 is gimmicky and just makes the phone larger than necessary.

I'd prefer the waterproofing over having a removable battery which i never take out anyways…

  • This or wait for the Mi6 to drop to the $400 AUD mark?

    • -1

100% this IMO, pretty sure LG is also doing 2 year warranties with this phone

      • +1

Eh… No 2 years warranty as this isn't aus stock

        • From what I've read you can send it back to the seller who will then deal with lg Korea or you can contact lg Australia who will tell you where to send it

In the 10+ years I've had of smartphone ownership I've never needed to use a warranty anyways

      • Grey import probably only one year

    • Mi6 for battery and ergonomics.

      This for camera and build.

  • Does anyone have this model and can confirm whether it has mirrorlink? Reviews seem about 50/50 on it.

  • Thanks guys, bought a platinum G6 for myself and an S8 for the Mrs.

  • +2

I still have the awesome G4 and have promised myself to skip this gen and wait for G7 to be ~$500.
I can't see any reason to upgrade from G4, unless I get bootloop.
    Bloody awesome camera.

    • Buy this, sell G4 to offset the cost then get g7 and sell g6

      • +2

after the G4 I'm afraid I'll be disappointed with any other phone camera

  • Don't forget cashrewards.

  • Buy it now then 12 months later let me know if it bootloops and if warranty is a problem with QD again.

The camera isn't great according to reviews I read.

I'm shocked that G4 at the time was so good its photos….vs even S7 edge, have they gone backwards?

    http://zkent85.blogspot.com.au/2016/04/lg-g4-vs-samsung-gala…

    • The camera is good. It's not top level due to grainy image in poor lighting. At medium lighting, there's processing issue, but for an every day shooter for an everyday person, they won't be able to tell.
