Getting an error code "This code can't be applied to your order." on checkout. Anyone else getting this?

    • Getting the same issue. Disappointed.

  • Does this come with a proper ABN invoice?

    • Gey import doesn't have tax invoice

  • Is this not an aus seller?

    • Overseas, they're in Taiwan. But they are a good seller (bought a previous phone from them, it died, and they were very good with the warranty).

      • Where do you need to send for warranty repair? Who pays for the return cost?

Tried to find answer but their page misdirects
        http://stores.ebay.com.au/QD-Shopping-Centre/Warranty-and-Re…

What happened with me was that I had to post it to a local address in Sydney (which I paid for), then qd_au handled everything from there (getting it back to Taiwan, verifying it was faulty, and couriering me a replacement handset from Taiwan). So cost to me was $11 postage + $2 to buy the box at the post office + I added insurance for $2 = $15.

        • Thanks for the info

Just ordered and applied code. No Problems $278.10 great price

  • bugger I bought it last week with the 5% code. still waiting for it to arrive…

I'm switching to G5+ from Redmi Note 4. The screen on the Note 4 is too fragile for my liking, I've smashed two of them already so hopefully the Moto fares better. Hate using cases.

  • Awesome been looking for a replacement to my oppo f1f. This will do nicely.

  • +1

Plus custom roms available for future upgrades if not supported: https://forum.xda-developers.com/g5-plus/development/paranoi…

  • Anyone have any suggestions on screen protection or cases for this phone?

  • +1

Does the seller open the box seal before sending?

    • Also interested in knowing.

    • +1

Mine arrived last week still sealed.

      • Mine arrived but it is not the original seal, mine had a white seal with 'do not accept if seal is broken' placed over the original, they did not cover it completely you can still see the original which is already broken, so I was right that they open the box and stick a new seal on it, unless others have the original seal which should be a seethrough sticker not white and has only a M on it? can anyone confirm?

        • Just received my second G5+ from QD, it has the white 'do not accept …' sticker, (same as the first I received), it also has the original Moto sticker under it, (didn't show on the first I received).

They're probably doing the same as VickMall and checking the contents so there can be no dispute in the case of a return, I'm fine with them doing this.

        • @4wd: Thanks for the reply, Just wondering, can you see faint horizontal lines on the screen at certain angles when light is shining on it and maybe sometimes even when looking very carefully directly at the screen?, I have never seen it before on a display, I'm thinking mine might be defected.

        • @J316: Can't say I see it on mine but on my old HUDL tablet I can see faint blue-ish lines about 3-4mm apart at certain angles, this is the capacitive touch sensor.

    Nice one bloke.

Please be in informed that G5 plus has now been superseded by G5S plus. Way better camera(s)

    • +1

The GSMArena preview does not suggest the camera is way better. It suggests that the sensor used is actually slightly worse than the one in the G5 Plus and the camera is in fact quite slow, but otherwise takes "good quality stills".

The only comparison to the G5 is this line:

From what we can tell, this is the same camera used on the G5, which means it is slightly worse than the camera used on the G5 Plus.

      • Interesting, they both lack optical image stabiliser anyway, do you think the G5S Plus will be sold in Oz?

  • DWI have this phone (pretty sure the same) for $314. Have dealt with DWI before buying an expensive camera and lenses, and zero problems. So, who would you go with?

    • +1

From some people said you won't have problem until you need to warranty.

With qd_au you will just need to send it to their local address.

    • Suggest you read from here regarding DWI's previous ebay selling of the G5 Plus.

TL:DR; Make sure you are getting the 4GB/32GB Retail Asia Pacific version of the phone before ordering.

EDIT: DWI's listing is still for the EU version (3GB/32GB)

    • Have ordered through QD. Fingers crossed and thanks everyone.

  • The 'PAINT' code does not seem to be working for this anymore.

    • PAINT code is storewide so should work. Make sure you have logged in and use PayPal and you hasn't use up the limit.

      • Definitely logged in and definitely have PayPal selected. I haven't used the coupon at all so that's not an issue either.

Not sure what the problem is.

        • +1

Is your account registered in Australia? I had an issue with an ebay voucher because my account was originally set up in the uk.

  • I just brought one. Thank you for the post. Do I need to ask them to write the phone as gift when they send it from Taiwan?

    • +2

Why do you want them to write down that it's a gift? If it's to prevent GST being added by customs, until 1 July 2018 you don't get charged GST if the price is less than $1000, so if it's a single one of these phones then it's well below that threshold.

      • Thanks for information. I don't often buy from o.s.

    • Where did you bring it to?

  • -1

Sneaky question, but if you sent in an exact same phone and model ( in this case a Moto G5+ XT1685 4GB / 32GB Grey ), but had a different IMEI number, ie a different phone but identical for a warranty repair, what would the chances are they would pick up the different phone to what they sold in the first place???

    • +3

Actually, I think their chances of catching that are extremely high. When I contacted them previously for repair, after they had established that it was covered, the very first thing that they wanted was the phone's IMEI. And then the replacement phone (which had a different IMEI) had a yellow post-it note stuck to it with some Chinese writing and the new IMEI written on it.

So those two indicators make it very likely they have a big database of phones that they have handled by model and IMEI, and whether it was sent out as a sale or a repair. These guys handle a HUGE number of phones, so they would absolutely need something like that, because you would not be the first person to attempt something like this. The likely outcome is that they see it's not on their list and therefore not their warranty issue, and would then send you a bill to cover their postage and handling costs there (Australia to Taiwan), their time investigating in Taiwan, their time responding to your emails (before accepting it for return), and the return postage and handling costs (from Taiwan to Australia). If you paid it, you'd get your broken phone back. And if you didn't, you'd be down one broken phone. At least, that's what I would do if I was them.

      • -1

Thanks for reply. Totally a Bad idea then, as well as ethically challenged too. I would do that to a Australian bricks and mortar's store if no identification numbers as I most likely will have spent thousands of $ over the years, not to mention missed out on some warranty/extended warranties over time such as Dick Smiths Closure etc.

  • I've searched and searched, if I put two sim cards in this will they be 4g and 3g? No good if one is 2g right?

    • +1

I asked on thr forum at xda. The second sim supports all 2g 3g and 4g. :)

  • will the fast charger still work with the adaptor they are selling with these phones , cheers

    • +1

Yes, it's just passing through the mains voltage.

This is the one I got, (can't see it but it's a 3 pin adapter):

      https://files.ozbargain.com.au/upload/8952/51981/img_2017090…

Better than the usual 2 pin black rectangular ones that invariably have loose connections and a tendency to slow fall out of the socket.

      • cool thanks for your reply , much appreciated

  • Really tempting. Looking at this or a used Huawei P9 that just came up on Gumtree for $300. Decisions, decisions.

    • This

      • Really? I was leaning the other way. Love the look of the P9 and it's not an Optus branded one so I can get it onto Nougot. Besides the lower cost and warranty, any other reasons why you reckon this is better?

        • I guess this has better ROM/community support. I had Huawei P8 once and community support was next to zero.

        • @pyramid: Yeah I've taken a look at XDA already. Not much there and what is doesn't work 100%.

  • Anyone received a shipping notification yet?

  • Purchased Monday mid afternoon, at 9PM received text message from DHL. Tracking shows its been from Taiwan to HK and now left HK on its way to AUS. Impressively Quick so far.

    • Dam thats quick i ordered monday night and havent had any notifications yet :(

    • Ordered monday morning and received yesterday afternoon….. Lightning fast…. Impressed.

Only concern…. Phone is way too big for me. I was using optus ippo and recently moved to aldi. Problem with some bands as it has been suppressed even after unlocking. You can renewable using engineering mode but it resets after a while.

      • Great! Mine ordered Monday mid afternoon and came today. (4 days brilliant!)

  • Looks like you were lucky, just messaged them on ebay, theres a 10 day leadtime due to the volume of sales. I ordered at 6pm monday so must have missed out :(

    • Yes, apparently they made huge money with this sales around 180 units sold. Around 50K…..

      • Great, thats a reward for great price and returns process. As highlighted by customers here.

    • Still not "out of stock" though, so 10 day lead time (if I was buying) would be better than out of stock!

      • +1

Defo. Least they are attempting to fill orders.

      • That's the bit I don't get. If it's in stock, then why do they quote "10 day lead time". Sounds like they're selling items they don't have in stock. I ordered 11pm 4/9. Estimated delivery is 20/9-26/9. Pretty slow.

        • Just got a shipping text and notification. Being shipped to arrive on monday

  • Anyone disappointed with the Screen on the G5 Plus?. I think its quite dull, and I realise they have an auto brightness issue on some units, but this seems ok in that respect. On Max brightness, still not that good either.

    • PROBLEM: AUTO-BRIGHTNESS DOESN'T CORRECTLY ADJUST BRIGHTNESS

People on this XDA Developers forum thread have taken to discussing their issues with the brightness on their Moto G5 Plus. Specifically, the Adaptive Brightness setting does not adjust the brightness of the display automatically, nor does it do so in a way that suits the user's current location and lighting situation.

      Workaround:

A couple of users decided to forgo using Adaptive Brightness and have instead manually adjusted the brightness to their liking at Settings > Display > Brightness level.
      Potential solutions:

One user found success after going to Settings > Display > Brightness level and turning off Adaptive Brightness. Afterwards, they maxed out the brightness slider, then re-enabled Adaptive Brightness.
Some others users suggest keeping Adaptive Brightness on, but adjusting the brightness slider to be at 75 percent of maximum brightness.

    • I don't have problem with the screen rather with the quality of the voice call. Very low volume and static noise. Googling found that many people have faced the same issue. Not really impressed…..

      • Problem: Poor voice call quality

There are quite a few threads on the Lenovo and XDA Developer forums that are more than enough to prove that many Moto G5 Plus owners are unhappy with the audio quality of their voice calls. For some, audio cuts in and out, while others have said the audio is garbled or people sound “digitized.” Some think the problem lies with Verizon, as the name of the first linked thread suggests, but not everyone affected has named Verizon as their carrier.

        Official solution:

On page 33 of this thread, Motorola Admin MattForumsMngr said a patch is in the works for this particular issue. As of June 26, the patch has not been released.
        Potential solutions:

Restart the phone and try the call again.
Disabling Enhanced 4G LTE Mode has been mentioned multiple times as the way to improve or fix the poor audio. This can be done at Settings > More (Under Wireless & Networks) > Cellular Networks.
Disable HD Voice at Settings > Advanced Calling. Tap the Advanced Calling switch/toggle in the top-right corner to turn it on, then tap HD Voice to disable this feature. It’s disabled when there is no check mark. It has also been suggested that Verizon customers need to disable HD Voice through the Verizon site in addition to doing it within the phone’s settings.

      • Also new update coming soon, people on xda reporting its fixed teh low volume bug: https://forum.xda-developers.com/g5-plus/how-to/update-npns2…

  • Still haven't gotten any notification of the phone being sent. Is anybody else in the same boat?

    • +1

Yep, me too. I would have bought elsewhere if I knew it wasn't in stock.

      • Me too, I'm considering attempting to get it refunded (not sure if possible) and getting it from somewhere else, that shopmonk offer a few days ago was about the same price.

      • Just got a shipping notification today

        • I received a shipping notification yesterday too. :)

        • @303-Acid:
And it was delivered by DHL today! It's charging now. I'm happy that it's only slightly larger than my oppo f1f.

        • @303-Acid: mine was delivered to, but one thing I noticed is that the seal sticker (white) is actually not the original sticker, because the orignal is underneath ( see though with a M) and this sticker was already ripped, I know there is a difference in the sticker because I bought the same phone from the shops aswell and i can see the difference, so this means it's an opened box

  • Does anyone else notice horizontal lines in the display, when you look at it at certain angles with light shining on it?
