You could atleast credit the 2 posts related to this deal!

  • Um how do I get the special? eBay is still the same price. Thanks in advance.

    • +2

      Goodguys 15% off.

  • Thanks for quick reply. Will get the 15% good guys deal then.

  • +1

Prices are slowly getting lower for OLED. Hopefully in a few years we'll see sub $1500 for OLED panels, similar to what happened with Plasma. Still, this seems like a good price for an OLED TV.

    • Seems like the link goes to Appliances Central and not good guys. Out of stock as well.

      • Oh. Well, it's a good price, in principle I guess. :/

        • I can still do it as of now.

wonder what the difference other than $1500 is between the OLED55C7T (this deal) and OLED55E7T (another 55' on GG ebay).

        • +3

@abuch47: About the only difference is the rubbish soundbar.. The panel across all 2017 models is exactly the same.

      • Hmm. I thought this was out of stock. Went to good guys and they cannot do the online price. Went to jbhifi and saw a display stock for 2016 c6. Got that instead very happy as it has the 3D option too.

  • +3

Wow this price is bloody good. First time I've seen one under $2.5k.

  • +4

Bargain! This TV is a thing of beauty. I never thought I'd say that of an LG product, but I have zero buyer's remorse.

    • +2

No LG these days are actually very good

  • Does Dolby Atmos sound require special speakers or will the TV speakers do it? If you plug in your headphones, will you get DA sound?

I'm actually tempted to buy one and put in my computer room, but I would need a TV table for it to stand on so…

    • Dolby Atmos works best with in-ceiling speakers but can also use upward-firing speakers or a compatible soundbar. Also needs an Atmos-enabled receiver. Dolby Atmos for Headphones is different to the one used in home theatres.

      • So if you have compatible receiver but the speakers are 5 or so years old you'll still reap the reward?

        • Yeah it doesn't matter how old the speakers are just as long as you have at least two in the ceiling. Something similar to this (5.1.2): http://www.tymhomes.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/02/1000-SS_5…

        • So with normal 5.1 won't make much difference I'm assuming

        • ok, looks like that's off the list.

I don't have ceiling speakers, nor would I know how to set them up.

I was hoping it would have headphone support without a receiver at least.

    • Is there any point to a two-tiny-speaker TV having Atmos then?

I mean claiming it has even basic surround sound would be exaggerating well past the point of an outright lie, surely saying it has Atmos is the most ludicrous BS…?

      I'm confused…

      • +1

It's just marketing bs. Still sounds crap. If you want decent sound from your TV but without all the speakers, get a Yamaha soundbar or a 2.1 system.

        • +4

Main point of ATMOS in the TV is that the inbuilt apps can pass it directly to your receiver over HDMI. Alternatively to an ATMOS sound bar.

        • @Battlestar666:

There we go, that's an actual reason to have it, if it's needed for that.

  • This is one of the TVs with best visuals in the market now. For those who are sceptical, just walk into any appliance store and see the difference in person.

My only gripe is the handshake connection between the TV and PS4 Pro that makes setting and enabling HDR quite daunting.

    • never had any problems with my ps4 pro and hdr on this set.

  • can i watch cardoons on this?

    • When you artichoke jokes

    • Ghibli would be nice…

  • +1

Thanks! Great price just bought one

  • When the bigger ones get to this price I am definitely in.

  • +11

Still have a 10 year old Sony bravia that just won't die.

    • +1

Same here but sometimes starting to get two red light flashes and no screen when powered on. 10 mins later or so, she works.

    • +7

yeah, our Panason plasma looks like it will last forever. Hard to get rid of it no matter how nice new tvs are when the old is still working fine.

      • +2

Pay me 50 bucks and I'll get rid of it for you.

        • +4

Yeah, that's the thing. It's worth nothing but still too good to throw out.

        • It's probably still better than most LCDs out there. Panasonic plasmas are damn good TVs.

  • +3

$4100 for the Pana 65inch is pretty good too - https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/328555

Its a shame the stand is so ugly on the Panasonic. I wonder when Samsung will release their OLEDS

    • -1

i do not believe the Panasonic has HDR though

    • Correct me if im wrong but aren't Samsung going with QLED which is a their response to OLED

      • +4

Yeah they have QLED, which is still basically still LED & not held in high regard compared to OLED. I cant imagine they will wait to much longer before going OLED

    • Thanks for that post, you made me buy one today.
Very impressed with pic. Stand is ugly, I agree.

      • No worries, if you REALLY want to thank me though, you could buy me on ;).

        Enjoy

  • I think this is a review for this model, but this would be for the US model (note that 120 HZ = 100 HZ here). http://www.rtings.com/tv/reviews/lg/c7-oled

Looks pretty good, just a little bit too pricey for me.

  • Guys I am waiting to buy an OLED from LG. Should I bite this?

My co-workers suggested the QLED but I think this should suffice for a few years. What say?

    • +4

By the OLED. QLED is just Samsung's LCD from last year, slightly improved.

      • Thanks mate..yeah I am almost buying it now haha :)

  • +2

    Finally!

    OLED for 2.5k.
Now just a little more so the 65" screens to get under $3k and I'm in!

  • +6

There I did it…Pulled the trigger on this…Dont forget the cashback rewards (1.30%).

Thanks OP…Appreciate it. My hands were trembling a bit as I ordered but I hope this TV will give us a few years of joyful viewing and gaming on the PS4. :)

    • +1

      gratz. Enjoy your new TV.

    • +2

Congrats, you won't regret it. I bought my OLED in 2014 and it's still going strong.

      • +6

geez, so it should. A TV should last ages, ten years or so.

        • +1

Agreed. Before the OLED I had a 720p LG plasma for ten years.

        • Ten years for anything electronic to last these days is extremely optimistic.

5 years is realistic for most things, but even then - some much less than that.

        • +2

          @BradH13: not TVs or appliances.
Should last way past that , not counting brands like hisense tcl Kogan etc.

        • @Ryballs: Yeah but now you're on a 1080p OLED. You jumped the gun son.

      • +2

Yikes how much were OLEDs in 2014 haha

        • +2

I paid $3k so basically the same price as they are now. It's 1080p though. The 2013 model before mine was $15k.

        • +1

I remember when plasmas first came out 15-20k and had fans running in them . Largest was around 42 inch.

        • @PVA: Back then what people considered big was different. It was bigger than what we had before so no one thought it was small. We got spoiled and realized those screens weren't filling up much of our FOV from the distance we sit. There's no way I could go back to TV sizes of the 80s and 90s.

        • @lostn:
Yep, we had a 30inch crt Sony, $3000. Fantastic tv and huge in all dimensions. Plasmas looked out of this world fantastic compared to it.

We just waited a few years and got a Panasonic plasma for 1300.

      • My only potential regret is that 55" is not a big TV.

        • 55 would be the max size for us, anything else is too big to watch tv in the room it sits . Don't want to make the feature of the room.

    • Thanks Guys….Will pick up from Good Guys Maribyrnong today. I am impressed at how fast it was ready for pickup.

  • +1

If you sit more than 2.5m away, do yourself a favour and get a 65inch. No point getting an OLED if it's too small for your viewing distance.

    • +3

Nah, the advantage of OLED isn't about the resolution- you can sit well back and still notice the much deeper blacks, for example

      • +1

        LOL

      • I personally disagree, it's not always the bigger the better for TVs . But always try to view in person before you buy.

        • That's why I mentioned viewing distance. 55 inch is small, especially when you consider letterbox aspect for movies.

        • @mlburnian: if 55 inch is small, it is small regardless of whether it's OLED , LCD , plasma or whatever- an OLED 4K TV has the same resolution as a 4K LCD TV. A 1080p full HD OLED has the same pixel count as 1080p LCD.

        • @deepblonde: Yeah and having owned a 4k LCD TV, despite amazing blacks, a 1080p OLED will look horrendous to you.

        • @deepblonde:
What's your point? My point was to consider TV size, not just how black blacks appear. Why do you think people go to the cinema

        • @mlburnian: you stated there is no point in getting an OLED if it's too small for your viewing distance- my point is that it is irrelevant whether it's an OLED- if 55 inch is big enough and suits your viewing distance with an LCD or plasma, then an OLED is equally suitable…

    • -1

      Agree with mlburnian.

The eye can only distinguish the difference of 4K vs 2K at a certain distance.
I mean tbh, this is a gorgeous TV, no doubt but $2.5K for a small 55" TV with a paltry 12month warranty? Yes, you can chase it up with ACL if it dies but … ..the effort …still expensive for a small TV though
mmm… wait for the 65" IMHO

      Wait for Boxing day.

      Cheers

    • +1

I just picked up the 55 inch C7 and for years I swore I was not going to get anything smaller than 65 inch (we sit 3 metres from the TV). In the end I decided that quality image and blacks trumps a bright glowing LCD massive screen and it was an awesome decision. 55 inches is plenty big enough by far (I had a 50 inch Plasma Kuro 10yrs). I am very glad I didn't get a 65 inch for the distance we are forced to sit. I guess it comes down to your real desires. I always wanted a cinema room but no space for a proper one and this is the best compromise and I hate poor quality images or overly bright screens plus I love Sci Fi so blacks are important.

After a couple of days with this thing I could not be more happy.

      • 50inch tvs look like pc monitors after you have been using 55inch and bigger

  • Christ just bought this Same tv for 2.7 from JB Last Weekend

    • +1

Wow. I just goes to show how much markup there is and how they play us for a fool.
On top of that, they try to flog off extended warranty junk

I would check their site and if it matches the GG's, then I would go back and ask for the difference in return.

  • Awesome TV and awesome price!

  • +3

Once you go oled you never go back. Awesome price. I have an E6 myself.

  • -6

Plasmas will always be more superior than OLED and led.

    • +6

Plasma is only superior for motion. OLED has better black level, contrast, brightness and resolution. It also consumes about half the amount of energy and puts out much less heat. I'm a fan of plasma but overall OLED is the better technology.

    • +1

This dude is dreaming so hard right now…

  • Just something to be aware of, the previous and current generation of OLED panels produced by LG have an issue with banding that varies between individual panels. It's hit or miss if you get a good panel. A friend of mine went through 3 replacements before getting one with an "acceptable" amount of banding (not visible in content). If you get such a panel, request a replacement until you are happy. Plenty of discussion and photos of this issue on the various AV forums. With that said, still the best display available.

    • How does it deal with burn in of channel logos?

    • Are you able to show an example of the banding? I just find this surprising as I have two OLEDs and neither have it. I also frequent the AV section of whirlpool and never seen anyone with banding. LG OLEDs did have an issue with near-black uniformity but that's been resolved with their latest 7 series. I also can't find any reviews that mention banding. "The LG C7P can display our test image smoothly without any banding" - http://www.rtings.com/tv/reviews/lg/c7-oled

        Look on the AVsforums …..

    OLED coming down nicely. Patience…
