oh sweet… not that i could use all of my 500gb anyway.

  • +1

$49.99 200GB is quite enough, now monthly quota is not divided into peak and off peak

    • +1

Shame it includes uploads though :( Even still should be more than enough for most.

      • That's why I'm still on 130gb (uploads not counted) - is there anything that compares now?

I don't even know how much I upload, but I've got a lot of things happening, like a 50gb Dropbox syncing to 4+ computers, VoIP, other

        • you can check how much you upload when you log into your account. the current 200gb all hours is pretty good for people who don't upload.

    • +2

They should at least update it to 500GB.

    • -2

good enough for me as i don't upload :) normally, the connection upload about 5-10% of your download so you get 180GB+

    • Tru dat

  • if you're with tpg already is it automatic that you will get these allocations? i'm on $49 90/90 GB split currently. If not, will it incur any fee?

    • +2

It's not automatic. Lots of people used to dislike that it wasn't automatic, but it turned out to be good that one time when they changed all their plans to include uploads when previously they weren't including uploads.

If you change to a plan that costs the same or more as before, it's a free change as many times as you like. You can change to a cheaper plan for free once every 6 months. Any more than that and it costs $90 per change to a cheaper plan.

      • +3

The one free change per 6 months and $90 charge for subsequent changes within those 6 months is only if you are outside of contract. If you are inside a contract it is $60 for each change.

        • sorry for missing that distinction. it's been so long since I was inside of contract it just doesn't occur to me… (looking at my account page, my first plan was a 256kbps unlimited download adsl1 plan! :D )

    • +2

No you will not get these changes automatically. You will have to log into your account and go to the plan changer. If you are already on the $49 plan and change to the new $49 plan no fees will be charged. Refer to this link to confirm http://www.tpg.com.au/products_services/adsl_additionalprice…

By the way when changing from a 49 plan to a 49 plan it is is considered an upgrade if you were wondering.

  • +1

i'd like to see cheaper deal - not deal with bigger download limits

    • +1

The cheapest Naked ADSL2+ plan (without bundling) is ~$40/month with a few GB. However for $60/month (if you are on the right exchange) you can get unlimited ADSL2+ and phone rental with TPG. The reason for this is that port use fees become significant on low end plans so even without any included data you are unable to get it cheap.
If you do want cheap internet; you might go with wireless/3G — that can work out cheaper but you get very little quota and speeds/pings/reliability is horrible.

      • And that's the only real option for a lot of us.

I'd like to see more coverage. My only (i'm one of the few lucky ones) option for ADSL2 was with Bigpond (why is this happening?!) @ $70+line rental pm for 50GB (upload counted, getting 8/1mbps) on a 12 month contract.

        This is Canberra btw.

  • Bummer - once again us Naked people are left out.

    I'm paying $59.99 for 100/100 p/op on Naked.

I was going to 'upgrade' to the TPG Home phone + True Unlimited and still pay $59.99, but it's a whole bunch of reconnect fees, 30 days cancel notice required and then another month with no internet!

  • so I assume that you are paying some $30 for phone service a month on top of this, as it is ADSL2+?

    • I would say so. I don't know why anyone would go this if they could get the $59.99 Home Phone + True Unlimited bundle.

      • +1

        not for new customers no

but this is mainly for existing ones that don't want the 12-25 day downtime to cancel and then re-sign

        • My understanding TPG home phone line is VOIP and can't be used for fax. Many people, mainly the one running home office, still need fax (yes, fax might disappear in a few years). So, this is a nice choice for them. It's a matter of choice, paying $20 more (that's Telstra line) for supporting your business is certainly a good enough reason for this plan to exist (not to mention the hassle in switching the phone to TPG and something goes wrong).

        • Fax over voip works most of the time if you have the right hardware.
          Not all ATAs support it.

        • I agree with freddy, fax still can work with TPG line, but just it requires more hassle, and for some that use the net for business, it's just not worth it

        • Agreed. Works well enough for home office for me, but I wouldn't run a call centre on it.
You need an ATA with T.38 support.
          http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/T.38

        • so u have to purchase an ATA just to fax? (if you weren't gonna use it for voip, bcause TPGs service lets you use the standard phone as normal)

        • I was looking at TPG for someone and saw that they do not support fax which was something that they needed to have.

Then I also read the terms and conditions
Which say that the "Customer Service Guarantee" for TPG home phone "Must be waived by the customer"

Even if they could use their fax I could not recommend such a basic service where there is no guarantee that it will work!

        • why not just use something like mbox.com.au instead?

  • FWIW I've 'side-graded' several times, twice in the last 6 months and can confirm no fees or contract restart.

  • So what is the point of ADSL2+ 500GB that is $59.99 and ADSL2+ Premium 250GB is $69.95?

Is it for people that can't get the unlimited plan?

    • yes

    • Yes.

And if you change plans to one of greater or equal value then you won't get charged for it.

I went from the old 500GB adsl2+ home phone to unlimited adsl2+ home phone and did not get charged a fee.

    • I think premium also shapes to 4mbps rather than 1mbps

  • Do you know if they will automatically get rid of peak and off peak for 200gb plans or do we need to do something about it?

    • You have to change to the new plan yourself.

  • These sort of deals just make my internet experience suffer.

  • +2

TPG are really pushing the market. Well done.

  • great deal, I wonder if I switch will they make it $40 within 2 months and I can't downgrade for 6 hehe

however all these new bigger and better plans and increase of customers as of late seem to be causing some peak hour dropouts and service degradation as QuiOui mentions

  • I have changed my plan from $69 (200GB) to $59 unlimited. It costs me $60 for the change (inside the contract) but i can save more than $100 !! GREAT post !! thanks !!

    • I'm thinking of doing that too. I'll join you.

  • +1

So is this really standalone, like iinet naked?
Or would I have to pay line rental as well?

    • +1

As I know, TPG now have like 4 different unlimited:
      - 59.99 home phone bundle (you switch phone to TPG)
      - 79.99 naked (someone said will be 69.99, similar but you can't make phone call?)
      - 59.99 standalone, which is this one (you still need Telstra/Optus line)
      - 79.99 off-net, like standalone but if you're not in TPG ADSL2+ area yet (they'll borrow Telstra network, hence it's more expensive). I believe most of the deals were posted here recently.

    • So is this really standalone, like iinet naked?
No its not 'naked' - standalone means, just the internet side, you still need a phone line
"Naked" obviously you dont need a land line

Or would I have to pay line rental as well? Thats correct!! Landline required, so need to pay for that still

Just reiterating some of the statements above, an upgrade (of your current service, same price) IN or OUT of contract garners no extra fee, unless you downgrade IN your contract which is $59

      http://www.tpg.com.au/products_services/adsl_additionalprice…

      cheers big ears :)

  • Is this available on Telstra Wholesale (TW) only exchanges?

    • I hope not, considering I just signed up.

    • +11

I have no problem so many years, may be your phone line is shit.

  • Great well done TPG, but the downgrade fee sucksaroonie. Also change the 200gig plan to 500gig seems a good move.

    • no fee if outside contract (you can change every 6 months without charge)

      • This suxaroonies too, damn why do people in contract always suffer what BS

        • Because you signed a contract.

  • +2

Great! I have upgraded my 150G/350G to unlimited for the same monthly fee. It is a no brainer.

    • +2

Best upgrade ever in my opinion i did the same :)

  • Great more people will now join and TPG will be even slower!! :(

  • Great deals here. I struggle to get over 200 gigs but it doesnt hurt to have the option.

  • ADSL2+ unlimited plan is still not available in Wollongong, NSW.

  • ****. yesterday i was all excited that when i realised that adsl2 was available for my suburb (beaumaris) after more than a year of waiting. this was confirmed through tpg website and http://www.adsl2exchanges.com.au. HOWEVER, today i enter my number in again and only ADSL2 "Off-Net" appears to be available (seems to be more expensive plans). ADSL2 is still available through telstra and a few other companies according to adsl2exchanges.

Can someone help me comprehend… how that can happen. I thought that TPG uses telstra exchanges..?

I think I'm going to call up TPG if I suddenly can't get it…

    MOD: LANGUAGE REMOVED

    • yesterday i was all excited that when i realised that adsl2 was available for my suburb (beaumaris) after more than a year of waiting

Why have you been waiting for more than a year?
Your exchange has been ADSL2 enabled for more then 2 years

i was all excited that when i realised that adsl2 was available for my suburb (beaumaris)

      Yes it is avaliable.
TPG off-net is using telstra equipment.
You can sign up with TPG on their off-net plans and have TPG ADSL2
      Is that hard?

If TPG has equipment in your exchange and they are telling you that they cannot give you ADSL2 then it means their equipment is full and cannot offer ADSL2 on their own equipment to anyone.

I thought that TPG uses telstra exchanges..?

They use the building. TPG has their own equipment inside the building.

In your case TPG does not have any equipment in the exchange building so you cannot sign up to TPG plans which use TPG equipment.

      • anthony, re: beaumaris exchange.

Yes it has been enabled, but only available to some providers ie. telstra. It has not been available at any decent ISPs.

Also, off-net (telstra) is fine BUT, the plans are more expensive, which voids my only reason to go with TPG in the first place.

Thirdly, the fact of the matter is that the site did say (For a short period of time), on-net ADSL2+ was available with TPG, before being removed a day or two later. Mistake? Or some other more complex reason?

Thank you for the technical explanations though, I do value them greatly.

In the end, I called up TPG to confirm that on-net ADSL2+ really isn't available, and ended up figuring out a great ADSL1 8mbit unlimited upgrade, for the same price of our current plan and not even on contract (because we are already out of contract). Not a special deal though, its just that our old plan was outdated (And hence poor value, considering the ISP plan battles going on recently).

        • Yes it has been enabled, but only available to some providers ie. telstra. It has not been available at any decent ISPs.

Have a look at the new bigpond plans, they are getting good unless you want unlimited or TB plans.

I think that some people (even 1 person) would have left TPG making some free space on the exchange and then new people signed up.
That would explain why you saw both messages.

Or as you said, it could have been a mistake.

At least you got something out of the phone call :-)

      • whoops. double post.

  • If i was on the $75 plan can i change to the cheaper option? Its pretty much exactly what i have except ill be paying cheaper?
Is that automatic? Would i need to pay some weird fee to change?

    • If you're still in the contract period then you'll probably have to pay the $59 downgrade fee.

      • Seems like it might be $90 instead… and also downgrade in monthly charge, i assume they are referring to the amount im paying rather than the size of the plan…

        • "$59 ADSL plan change fee"

  • The 200gb any time deal is a winner too quite a bit of data a month.

    • It would've been nicer if they bumped it up another 50-150GB from the previous plan. I hope this any time deal doesn't slow down my exchange.

  • Going from $75 to $59 is not automatic, you need to change online. I think it is free to downgrade once every 6month if you are out of contract or the price is 59$ to downgrade inside contract.

  • Dear Customer,

Thank you for your change of plan request.

Unfortunately we are unable to change your plan to ADSL2+ Unlimited as this plan is currently not available in your exchange.

TPG would like to thank you for your continued support.

Please let me know if I can assist you further.

    Kind Regards,

    So so sad :(

  • Wow and I was paying $69.99 for the 110gb+40gb and just upgraded to this.. Awesome!

On a side note, how long does it take for this upgrade to take effect?

    • +1

      Took me 30mins.

  • Wow, I have decided to try my luck as I am already with TPG and therefore assuming the port I am on is valid. I emailed the admin and received prompt reply within minutes and I am now on unlimited plan with a $12 credit. Thanks TPG!

  • I'm on Cable, not sure if I should switch to this ADSL2+… :s

    • Only if you want to save money and can live with slower speeds and a lower quality of service.

My old house had cable and never had any downtime, i could always get the maximum download speed as it doesn't matter how far from the exchange you are.

My new house can only have ADSL and if i had the chance I would sign up for cable again.

  • +3

I'm in the process of moving house so was looking at getting phone and internet connected again. As it turns out if you get home phone with tpg for$30and as a bonus you can get unlimited net for 29.99 so all up $60! was going to take out new plan but it turns out I can do a transfer from old address to new address and get this deal…sweet. I was paying $40 plan and $20 for phone to helstra… and making no landline calls as my mobile cap covers all my talk time. Now my only problem is that I dont actually dload that much:(
But yes some good deals to be had from TPG :)

  • I believe this is a good move by TPG. Most of use will probably has the urge to use up all the limited quota but now it is unlimited there is no rush to use it all up.

    • +1

instead…they will try to download the whole internet

      • +2

Alredy done that. Might redownload the internet again.

        • Please dont break the internet ;p

  • This is a pretty good plan, however TPG coverage for ADSL 2+, let alone the unlimited plan is not all that great. Dodo offer their unlimited ADSL 2+ plan for only $39.90 when you combine with hp on Optus network or $59.90 when you combine with hp through Telstra network. Dodo's coverage is much better than TPG as they use both Optus and Telstra networks.

    • Pity about Dodo's customer service… they were rated last in a recent satisfaction survey. TPG did OK.

  • Still not available on the Corrimal exchange. FML

  • Not sure if it's worth paying extra $10 for unlimited since 200 gb is still quite a lot.
