Penrite Rim Cleaner is actually a re-labelled version of Sonax Wheel Cleaner. Sonax car detailing products are made in Germany and are quite well regarded in the detailing community. This wheel cleaner contains de-ironising chemicals, and turns red when it comes in contact with iron particles. There is also a 500ml version but the 5L is much better value.

    The only acid based wheel cleaner I have seen contains HydroFluoric acid (HF) . Look it up - not nice stuff. Given the choice, I'd take a burn from sulphuric or hydrochloric any day over HF.

    If you do use an acid based cleaner, I advise to steer clear of anything with HF in it. Your choice though
