I think you need to sync your card to Dimmi and it'll work?

  • Can this be combined with the flash offers available by Dimmi?

    • I'd say yes.

      • Damn, that could turn into a very cheap dining experience!

        • I don't think so as the participating restaurants in this deal doesn't appear to have flash offers. I could be wrong.

I was wrong. There are but only a limited number of restaurants. The first I found was Mister Bianco in Kew.

    • +1

Has anyone tried that? The normal 20% off specials all state that they aren't valid with any other offers, coupons etc.

      • +1

That's what I originally thought. But if you claim the offer and pay using AMEX, isn't the $20 put back into your account afterwards?

Not showing just checked my Amex app.
    Amex issued card

    • +2

Follow the deal details for activating the offer - the process is different to other Statement Credit offers.

    • It appeared in the transactions list on my Amex App, has a button to sync to Dimmi.

  • What if you're an existing member with a "synced" Amex card?

    • Then you're good to make a booking. Worked for me.

  • How many redemptions are allowed per card?

    • Until 20k bookings have been made I believe?

      • -1

I just called Amex and they said we can only get the cashback once.

        • Don't think that is right. iv already used it twice and got 2X20 back.

        • Ignore SydneyShopper17's comment. You can redeem the Amex/Dimmi $50 deal as many times as you want until the CAP of 20,000 bookings is had. Please note that you CANNOT spend $100 and try to pay for it TWICE on a split payment against the same card against that one booking.

I'm not able to change or delete my previous comment for some reason. I called Amex again to confirm and the person I spoke to this time said he wasn't sure but didn't think it was only once. Looks like a few people have confirmed here that they used it more than once. Very disappointed with Amex customer service, first time they have failed me!

  • How many times can this offer be used?

  • Can I add multiple amex card to the same Dimmi account?

    • No, you sync a card.

  • Curious, had made a booking last week for tomorrow night dinner, can i use the AMEX offer?

    • +1

No it needs to be synced before booking through Dimmi and the offer begins from today.

    • +5

      cancel and rebook.

  • Also, those restaurants without 'AMEX' logo, can still be used for this offer?

    • +1

No. "Offer valid at participating restaurants only. Participating restaurants are badged as 'Amex Offer' or 'Amex Spend $50 get $20' (NOT 'Amex Welcome') and can be found at http://dimmi.com.au/amex."

      • Yikes. But thanks for helping to search.

        • All in the previous deal linked.

  • i press syned and then changed existed linked card to my current amex card

  • +1

Will this stack with 50% off food offers? i.e spend $100 worth of food, bill becomes $50, then get $20 cashback

    • Which restaurants doing 50% and Amex?

    • I've just made a booking. Both the Amex offer and the 50% Offer appeared in my booking confirmation.

      • Hey @Tiger what is this 50% off offer you are talking about? Sounds like a great combo

        • I am going to try it out tonight and see how it goes. If Amex and another offer (50% in this case tonight) works would be awesome!

        • It's called a "Flash Offer" - 50% off food only. Only some restaurants offer it and dates/times are restricted. Participating restaurants change every week.

  • Damn, going overseas, only 8 bookings. Thanks OP!

    • Do u know if it can used more than once?

      • -2

I just called Amex and they said we can only get the cashback once.

yes it can be. used it twice and gt 2X20 back.

  • Twice I've registered for this offer in the past, sycnchronised my card and done everything properly yet not received the $20 cashback.

    • Contact Amex, they will credit the cashback.

  • Does anyone know if this is combineable with the $20 redemption voucher?

E.g. we go to a restaurant, spend $70, get $20 off from our Dimmi points, and then get another $20 off the remaining balance through Amex to reduce the bill to $30

    • Should be stackable as long as you see both on the booking confirmation email

      • Hmm it showed up in the final stage of redemption, but not mentioned in the email.. Might call up to check.

        • yes :)

        • +1

@tonester: Are you sure it can stack now? I just tried it tonight at Criniti's. We booked via Dimmi redemption points to get the $20 credit but did not double book with the Amex site as it said we had already made a booking.

We spent $70 and got it reduced to $50 and used our Dimmi registered Amex card. As we couldn't double book the restaurant under the Amex deal, we do not think we will get the credit. FYI we did not get any email from Amex regarding the spend either.

Can anyone confirm being able to double up with both Dimmi redemption and Amex?

        • @danielh: interested to know if we can club dimmi redemption + Amex offer

        • @spk: I don't think so. It may have worked in the past as but I think with the new linking of having to book the $20 redemption with Dimmi as opposed to a generic slip of paper means you cannot double stack anymore.

I'm hoping Tonester can provide some alternative thoughts though.

As for me, I ended up going to Meat and Wine co for lunch today and could bout double stack it in the Dimmi system so I just got the Amex $50 spend deal.

    • Worked for me

      • Good to know
So $20 from dimmi, $20 from Amex + amex flash offers
        Min $30 spend

  • I registered but no email saying that I have registered. Is that normal?

  • I used the card yesterday but didn't receive any confirmation email

  • I booked via Qantas Restaurant but seeing this promotion, I canceled my booking. However, the cancellation email came from Dimmi. Does that mean there's a way to stack this promo? Qantas + Dimmi?

  • So you can only sync one card?

    • at a time per dimmi account :)

      • -2

I just called Amex and they said we can only get the cashback once. Can you unsync one card, sync another one and get the cashback on the other one or do they do it once per Dimmi account?

      • +1

  • first time ive used this deal and dimmi as well

booked a restaurant, friend turned up first but didnt let the staff know we were the booking,
    paid the bill,
was waiting for an email but accoridng to some comments its not a statement credit so no email,

is the booking linked to your amex card some how?

ie do they have to click acceptance that you turned up for your booking?

    • I'm not sure what the restaurant needs to do in terms of tying your purchase to the Dimmi booking, but last time this deal was on I got an email from American Express within an hour of paying:

Thank you for using your dining offer with your Card ending XXXXX at XXXXX. If your purchase meets the offer terms, you will receive one $20 credit. Credits usually take 5 days to appear on your account upon completion of your qualifying transaction, but may take up to 90 days after the offer has ended.

      • bummer, Its been 24 hours since mine and I didnt get that email,

I hope amex manually do it when I have to call them up

        • The owner has to confirm you dined with them with Dimmi

Also your card has to be synced with you Dimmi account

        • @uggugg:

          defnitiely synced,

          not sure about confriming ;(

        • @hellohello123:

just called amex and they tracked my credit and manually added it,
they also said it tracked originally as well,

          not sure whats going on
but oh well, very happy when it comes thorugh

  • I dined on Friday and also didn't get any email to confirm the credit like using other Amex deals. :-(

  • I dined on Wednesday lunch, no email & no credit yet

  • I dined on Friday and but didn't receive any email confirmation and haven't got the credit yet ???

  • I dined on Friday lunch, got email confirmation and credit already.

  • Anyone know if this deal includes supplementary card?

  • There are few Restaurants that have the Amex offer showing and they don't accept online booking from Dimmi. Not sure if we can go directly to the restaurant and pay by amex gets us the offer?

    • which restaurants? must have proof of dimmi booking with participating restaurant

  • Tried it about an hour ago at TGI (with Entertainment offer too), got the email not long after. Anyone can confirm if we can use it more than once per account (as long as the 20000 hasn't been used up yet)?

    • Last time this deal was on it could be used more than once per account.

      • -1

I just called Amex and they said we can only get the cashback once.

        • I've used it twice during the current promotional period without issue (and 4 times earlier this year).

The credit email even has the following text:

Your $20 credit is on its way.
          Want to do it again?
          Book now

    • yes, it can be..

  • A question, how do I pay for the meal when using the dimmi app?

I would like to use the entertainment book at the same time, is that possible?

    • how do I pay for the meal when using the dimmi app?

I don't think you can pay through the app. If you're asking with this deal in mind, you don't pay via the app. You pay in-store using the Credit Card that you have linked in your Dimmi profile.

I would like to use the entertainment book at the same time, is that possible?

It depends on the restaurant as to whether they will allow this. I think technically speaking they can choose to only accept "one promotion at a time", but I'd imagine it would really depend on the restaurant.

      • I would like to use the entertainment book at the same time, is that possible?

yes but usually not with flash offers

        • I know that you've said this can be used with Entertainment Book but I'd imagine it's discretionary.

You'll get some places saying yes and some places saying no, I would imagine.

At the end of the day, I'm sure they're paying a commission to Dimmi for the reservation. Not sure about Entertainment Book but I wouldn't be surprised if they were paying something there too.

        • @illumination:

entertainment book must be accepted with any payment method that doesn't include any other discounted dining offer

amex offer is statement credit back so entertainment book must be accepted with amex payment

when used as booking service only without flash offer discounts, entertainment book must be accepted with dimmi

entertainment book is only meant to be discretionary if used with other overt discounts and payment methods are not necessarily offers/promotions

        • @tonester: Agree. I double dipped at INDU, George St, Syd.
got $30 off using the entertainment book and $20 as CB from amex.

Guys, I just called Amex and they said we can only get the cashback once. Can anyone confirmif they used it several times this time round?

      • What! I did think it was strange when she told me that but she said in the offer, it says "one" credit.

        • It is one credit per booking. Your next visit will be a different booking even for the same restaurant so you will get $20 credit for $50+ spend again.

        • +1

Please go back and correct all your false statements above.

    • Just wonder if you would have Amex direct number to call.
