  • I would have bit on the family Q with this deal but no click and collect and silly bulk charges.
    Shame

    • You could price match at BCF to C&C, I reckon they'd match the $604 if you just showed them the top of the checkout page.

  • +6

I'd rather get the Q2200 for full retail

    https://www.weberbbq.com.au/barbecues/weber-q/weber-q/q-prem…

It's worth paying $80 for the extra features IMHO.

    • +1

look like the difference is only a lid with thermometer

      • +12

Higher lid = more room to cook large roasts
        Thermometer = more accurate cooking
Electronic ignition = you can press once only to ignite

Very much worth the extra $$$.

      • +2

Also has a higher dome lid - so you can cook bigger roasts / food, and an electronic ignition..

It's worth adding that the thermometer on the lid is an excellent addition as these are meant to be used with the lid down - just like cooking in an indoor oven, which you wouldn't do without knowing its internal temperature.

And as the salesman will tell you, "If your lookin, you aint cookin"….
(I.e., keep the lid down when cooking..)

    • I agree with the extra features - Its just a shame the special models aren't available at the major retailers that do the 20% off. I waited a long long time for a deal of any sort on it!

    • i want to try charcoal bbqing, can this use charcoal bricks?

  • Weber Family comes down to $591, which is a pretty good price… edit* have to add $65 for delivery though :(

  • Shows free delivery on order over $100!

    • *Excludes big and bulky items

    • Bulky item. so it does not count.

  • Can get it for $318.60 if you Price Match at David Jones and use 10% off gift cards through Entertainment Book or RACQ.

Or you can get it for even cheaper price matching at BCF using 10% off gift cards from EB + 3.5% cashback from CR. Would equate to $307.45.

      Price match from Officeworks?

  • Great deal. Thanks. Used it to get the accessories I've been wanting forever. I added the $11.95 drip trays to get my order to the next $75 level and another $15 off.

  • purchased Q2000, cart and drip tray for $494 delivered, free delivery!
Big and Bulky refers to the delivery of large merchandise items (Furniture, beds and large appliances)

  • Did the same, went with the patio cart, score! Thanks OP!

  • An awkward size, from memory this one uses 1 burner that is about the same size as the Q1000. The family version uses 2 burners. The Q2000 has the least heat.

    • +1

I've had mine for almost 3 years now and no issues with heat. Cooks a roast pork, chicken, lamb etc just fine. Gets plenty hot enough to get my crackling on the pork too. Can fit a couple of good size chooks side by side on the trivet too.

      • Fair enough, just saying I believe this one produces the least amount of heat per cooking area. But probably don't even need that much heat due to the excellent design.

I bought a family Q a few years ago on sale at DJs. Bought the weber brand thermometer off amazon for $10 (at the time). Drilled a hole in the front, attached thermometer, no problems.

Also worth mentioning how bloody good the weber warranty and after sales support is. They once sent me replacement grill plates, after my originals rusted a bit as I live "in a coastal area". Basically a brand new BBQ after that.

    • +1

Second the excellent weber warranty & aftersales support, even years after

    • Do you mind sharing which thermometer you used? I got family Q as well and would love that.
Only downside I see for family Q is that you cannot fold it and transport like these where stand is separate.

      • @Gaggy, this is the exact one i bought a few years ago: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005LV58YQ/ref=oh_aui_deta…
At the time it was USD $10 and dollar was parity. Suggest shopping around as there are a few options online.

Also, you might be able to talk Weber after sales support in Australia into selling you a replacement one. IIRC they (reluctantly) might sell you one for $25, price might have changed since a few years ago.

One particular thing I love with the family Q is being able to put two pizza stones down at the one time, can't do that with the smaller models. (I just use the $10 pizza stones from Victoria's Basement).

        Good luck.

        • Thanks lime. I could see flat surface in the picture which might be for Q2200. If I remember, Family Q surface is round. Did you have any issues fitting it in?
Something like this would do as well or I need exact same model mentioned in amazon?
          http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Stainless-Steel-Barbecue-BBQ-Pit-…

Secondly, we are not that much into pizaa, but used to make it inside on oven. Are pizzas made in family Q much better?

        • @Gaggy:

Honestly, I'm pretty sure any Thermometer will do the job, I just liked the weber one which was affordable at the time, and looks the part. Remember you're drilling a hole into an expensive BBQ.

I'll try and get a photo of how it looks on ours for you, but yes the higher range models have a flat panel for the Thermometer, ours doesn't look too bad imo.

As to pizzas… We make the bases from scratch. Webers get really really hot, likely hotter than a usual oven, and even better they are outside and not heating your house which is better in summer. A base/pizza is properly cooked in 5 minutes or so, in 6 minutes it is burnt, so much closer to a proper pizza oven than a standard oven I reckon.

        • @lime111: Thanks again. Pic of it will be great as I don't my warranty to be void for this or if I don't like the looks.
Will try pizzas and as you explained for timing, going to burn a lot :)

        • @lime111: Thanks.
Do you recon cheap ones from ebay as it is quite expensive now at amazon and does not ship to Aus?

        • @Gaggy: Can't say i'm a BBQ thermometer expert. If I were you, i'd call Weber support, say you bought a 2nd hand family Q and you cracked the thermometer when moving it, ask them how much it costs for a replacement… Then make a decision whether a third party or weber brand suits you…

        • @lime111: Thanks. Will do.

  • +1

Can someone explain the value in these to me? How is this better than a $200 four burner?

    • +1

Extremely efficient and frugal with gas consumption and simply does a better job in cooking the meat by encouraging closure of the lid to create a more convection styled cooking process. Honestly, there is no comparison.

      • +4

I don't understand how that is any better than a hooded BBQ. It's not like regular BBQs use excessive gas, so I'm not really understanding. They seem to be the same basic formula of gas+hot plate. I feel that this just brand awareness and perceived quality. I always ask people about these Webbers and they always give different answers as to why they are worth the money, and each answer sounds like a different form of BS.

        • I agree that it's hard to comprehend, but I've never looked back ever since getting my Q200 over 15 years ago…still use it regularly and it's been awesome :)

        • The lid down cooking is the difference. Simple as that.

        • @nafe: But every hooded BBQ does that, including my $99 Bunnings special.

        • @Burnertoasty: The design is completely different. I've cooked with lid down on a $99 Bunning special, and a $600 4 burner, it's simply not the same. They aren't as efficient and they do not cook as quickly or as evenly. Maybe go to a friend who has one and try it out sometime?

        • +1

It's all in the quality of the material, fit & finish, but also in the branding a bit.
Like parents has the weber 3 burner hooded for 15+ years, all the hot plate & grill is made of quality & thicker metal with better enameling.
My bunnings 2 burner hooded has real thin grill that doesn't hold heat, & the hot plate keep rusting no matter how clean/ dirty/ oiled i kept it.

The thumbnail image made me think this was a drone haha

    • +2

Same haha, came here to see if anyone thought the same!

    • +1

Haha! Was about to post the same! I'm still waiting for a deal on the Mavic Pro

  • Never forget when I bought this at 50% off Ebay promotion 4 years ago. Best buy I've ever done.

  • dont forget the ccsell20 promo code - https://www.ozbargain.com.au/deals/myer.com.au for a further $20 off.. it stacked for me

    • +1

Think they stopped the stacking…even tried the anniversary code.

      • quite right.. I didn't notice they took away the large discount and reapplied the $20 discount lol

  • +1

    Grab the pizza stone https://www.myer.com.au/shop/mystore/91124-17652-baby-q-pizz…

    Seriously good pizzas.

Tempted to grab this for camping

  • Looks a bit like a drone from that picture. Does it fly?

  • Thanks op. Got one

  • Overpriced.

Even at $354, you will find yourself spending another $200 on much needed parts which they refer to as 'accessories', like the Portable cart and Hot plate add-on.

  • +1

for the love of god, wish there was a family q3200 deal round 600…

    • there is a q3100 for $604 at myer

  • $230 myer baby q 1000 price match David jones $$287 then $15 off every $75

    • Changed my mind got two baby Q 1000 from the good guys for $220 each

    • baby q doesn't have the side folding down tables if I am not mistaken.. I reckon that would shit me to death lol..

      • No but if it sat on little camping table would be ok the price is cheap tho at $220

      • Found out u can get the side tables for $45 so $265 total

  • so now I am looking at the q2000 and the portable cart from appliances online eBay store using the party18 code for a total of $468.22..

    • I think you were looking at the wrong stand

      • wrong stand? I bought the portable cart for q1000 and q2000 series?

        • +1
