  • 200 Hz Motion Refresh Rate -
Does this mean better for sports or gaming?

    • +1

      probably both but sports primarily.

gaming generally requires low input lag which most TV's suck at. Don't know about this TV specifically.

    • +1

It wouldn't be 200Hz for the panel but with video processing, probably 100Hz.

    • Normally input lag (the time it takes for the signal from your controller to have an effect on the TV) takes a pretty significant hit when you enable any sort of motion processing. Some TV's have what's called BFI, which is a fancy way of making the motion a bit smoother, which can sometimes be enabled in gaming mode (which is a TV setting normally set to make input lag less pronounced), but BFI normally introduces some flicker, which some people notice and others don't, BFI is sometimes useful because it doesn't introduce as much input lag when gaming as say traditional frame insertion would.

If you're particularly interested in a gaming TV I'd suggest you look at reviews of input lag and the motion performance without any motion processing turned on.

FWIW the LG C7 is meant to be good but obviously very expensive as well as some of the Sony's apparently.

There's heaps of jargon and terminology involved in reviews, so looking for reviews that compare similar models is worthwhile.

  • Was looking into this TV just now but poor 24P performance has turned me off it. Looking at the Sony 900XE but of course it's more expensive and no deal going atm.

    • How much expensive

    • Ok. check here now…Sony 900XE in same price as this sammy

  • I got the same TV a couple of months ago from the one day JB Hifi Deal (Curved).
Pretty impressed. The remote input box is great. Very fast turn on.

    • Does your tv have panel clouding in dark scenes? I've had issues with it on both KS8000 and Q7 units

      • yeah a little. not as bud as some others. not sure what can be done about it

        • Short of playing the panel lottery and getting Samsung to replace it (Samsung have given me EXCELLENT customer service when it came to faulty tvs however), the best you can do is rub the panel lightly with a microfiber cloth and try and massage it out. It helped a tiny bit with my tv

      • Except for full-array, pretty much all LEDs suffer from some degree of uneven black uniformity.

Have it on my Sony KD55X9300D, although it's not too bad with some tweaking.

        • Yep. My next tv will hopefully be an OLED in like 5 years time when they're a bit more affordable

        • @nytrojen:

Same, waiting until they mature a bit and the price drops, want a 65" OLED for $2,500 and will put my 55" LED in the bedroom.

It's 3D so it can be my porn TV.

      • I also have the Ks series have you tried turning down the backlight and bumping up the brightness ?? Unless i was one of the lucky oness.

        • Yeah that definitely helps. Just prefer it never existed in the first place 😋

        • @nytrojen: yeah i just get the faintest glow at the top strip.. but other than that it was the oleds at $5.5k lol

        • @solidussnake: yup same here. Yeah I'd love an OLED but there was no way I was justifying the price for one at this point in time

  • Looks just like my 65" KS8000 that I paid that amount for on boxing day sales. Wonder how it compares.

    • The Q series is its direct replacement. Better hdr and better blacks again.. but ks8000 will last a while i reckon before upgrading

  • The Good Guys eBay has this listed for $2,495 + $50.14 postage. With eBay's 18% off sale tonight, you could pick this up for <$2100.

  • The only difference between the mu8000 is its curved..
