I've been looking at these add-on speakers for months and they've finally dropped down to their lowest price in around a year. These are good if you already have a 5.1/7.1 setup, have an AVR that's ready for Dolby Atmos and won't be roof mounting anything. Prices in Australia are $300+ and they have pretty good reviews as well.

These usually sit between $180-$200USD on Amazon throughout the year.

  • Just a word of caution that you should only get them if your existing set up consists of Pioneer speakers. Otherwise, you risk having a tonal mismatch.

    • Is that based on experience or something else?

      • Both. Look up timbre matching, there's a lot of information out there.

  • +1

Slightly off topic but who else from USA etc sells speakers to Australia? HiFi is such a rip off here!
Some Amazon items do but looking for others

  • Just echoing on what the OP said, these are probably good solution to having Atmos in the system without having ceiling speakers. However, the experience and outcome between these speakers (reflected sound) vs ceiling mounted (direct source) is quite massive.

I’d suggest perhaps listening them both at an audio shop and make your call. There are a lot of YouTube videos of people comparing reflective speaker vs ceiling speakers.

I’ve went for the rebooked of installing ceiling speakers and it’s a massive change to the experience to watching Atmos encoded movies.

    • I've got a reflected sound bar and the sound stage is reflected wide noticeably. I can't speak for these but they review quite well. Good for renters!

  • Ordered. Thanks OP.
