8 Month old player which lacks USB, average movies, better value at the Sanity $199 Bluray deal.

    • Yeah I know Sanity's Deal is Great (Sony Brand is better than Toshiba, USB port is bonus)
But you have to pay $15 Shipping

This one is free pickup and also got a HDMI cable Free
(I'm not sure if you can pick different movie titles rathar than these 6, no details in the catalogue)

      • The Sanity deal is also avaliable instore though.

        • Yeah, you can get it in store. I was tempted but didn't need a blu-ray as I already have one.

      • No selecting different movies, they are all boxed up.
Saw these in our security cupboard at work last night.

      1. 8 months? Looks like it's just launched based on US/UK sites. It is an entry-level model though, comparable it seems with the Panasonic DMPBD45.
      2. USB on pretty much any Sony device is fairly useless. Supports DivX, MP3s, JPEGs and not much else. Forget about MKVs and other high def formats (after all, this is a bluray player).
      3. Think about the 12 people in Australia who were stupid enough to buy a Toshiba TV (of which I am one of them) and can now enjoy 1 less remote :P (although I just remembered I have a Harmony remote, so reconsidering…..)
  • Sanity deals also include free hdmi cable n had bigger selection of blurays

  • Its a sad day when Toshiba have to make blu ray players. HD dvd would've so won had microsoft put it in the x360

  • Any codes/firmware to make it region free bluray?

    • The Sony from Sanity is not region free too, at least for the DVD. Anyone know how to make it region free?

      • I purchased one for my girl in France and it was shipped with everything for around $175 (total) guess they had a price error and were not expecting anyone to ship overseas (guessing minus the GST is why???). The sony played French, Swiss and Uk (and oz) dvd's so I guess its region free. Despite this I still programmed a harmony remote to unlock the player and sent it in the mail…. But it was never needed. The Sony is a good Blu-ray and the USB is very useful! 2 thumbs up for Sanity!

  • Agree. Not the best selection of movies IMO.
