Not the 20% off we saw last sale but still good prices for Apple.

Good discounts, but Jesus these things are hideously expensive.

    • +9

Not really. New Surface Laptop I got similar specs is almost same price.

Yes there are cheaper laptops but if you hold them you can tell the difference in build quality, if you just care about the specs then yes you can get something for half price.

But you will get no respect in the cafe's

      • +1

Yeah they are standard prices for premium laptops. On the Windows side the Spectre X360, Dell XPS models and Lenovo Yoga 910s are all in the same price range.

I love the look of the new HP spectre laptops in Ash Gray with copper. I'd also be happy with a macbook pro though.

        • Lets compare the hardware though.

        • ASUS zenbook 3 is where it’s at. The xps 2018 model looks awsome too though.

        Cough Xiaomi cough

      • But you can play anything from Monkey Island 2 up on an SL.

And that's all that matters in life. All 3 MI's are brilliant (4 & Tales don't exist).

  • Officeworks looks to be cheaper for the 256gb 13inch but its on clearance

    • +2

      That's an older model

Need a 13" without the silly touchbar but with 16GB.

    • What will you be using the touchbar for? Im tossing up between the 2 models.

    • Does that exist? I mean 16GB with no TouchBar?

      • Only as a special order. Unfortunately, these are never available when there's a 10% or 15% sale, just because they're a special order.

I'll probably get a pixelbook next time anyway.

If you go on Ebay livechat and tell them you missed out on the 10% code they will tell you:

In this situation, as an one time exception I'd request you to please go ahead and place the order and pay the full item cost and get back to us with the >item number and the PayPal email address and we'll request a manual credit to be applied to your PayPal account.

Please be informed that the credit might take 10-15 business days to be credited into your PayPal account.

Please get back to us once the order has been placed we'll request the manual credit.

    • credit means not getting cash back to account?

    • Seriously? I just called ebay asking 10% code. Get rejected. Heart broken

This could work, and I have definitely had this happen with a legit code, which I was entitled to (not targeted) and code was not working .
They said similar to as above, ie, pay for items, then let them know what item numbers affected, then they send to a team to issue 10% refund etc.
However, their customer service on live chat is very hit and miss. Some are wonderful and really know what they are doing, some will tell you Bs, promise x,y,z then deliver NOTHING . You do have a live chat transcript to refer to .
Make sure you follow up, and make sure you check that refund goes through and is actually processed . Dont just take their word for it . I was chasing up refunds for faulty code for about 3 weeks on one occasion, only to be told they had no idea why it was not processed, as everything on their end said it should have been processed, but they have to send away correspondence to a seperate department that can refund the credit into your paypal.
In the end, it was very frustrating spending hours of my time, because of a faulty code not working . They should have at least given me something extra for all the hassle because of code not working as described.
They did eventually sort it out and issue correct refund for the code not working . The person in live chat cannot actually do anything, just advise to try code again, and then they can send off refund request to a seperate department (whom I asked to chat with, but they declined to put me in touch with the "concerned department" )

Thanks for the heads up. I jumped back on livechat straight after i made the purchase, quoted the previous reference number and then told yes no problem 10% refund will be back in my paypal account within 10-15 days. Have a transcript of the convo saved to my email so will chase up after 15 days if nothing has appeared.

  • btw is the insurance worth it?

    • +1

I didn't buy the insurance. Saving it for AppleCare.

  • The Good Guys have Pro 256gb no touchbar for $1799. I got it price beat at Officeworks down to ~$1709! Get in quick.

I went into the Apple store one day and had a look at the 2017 Macbook 13". Like the fact that it's thiner and lighter, but I really missed the glowing apple on the back of the monitor…. :(

  • hi are those laptops good for photoshop, video editing ??? never used apple products before, thanks

    • +1

      yes, great for both

      • thanks, i couldn't find information regarding graphic card,as i don't play games, but do lots of editing with large files

        • I did heaps of research and recently bought the MacBook 13inch 2017 8gb 256gb hardrive with retina display. For editing videos and photos (mind you I'm a newbie) it is amazing. I haven't played any games, but to be honest I won't be planning to. When doing my research, I found that the graphics card isn't the best for games. For old games I'm sure it would be ok, but I wouldn't bother with semi-new games. My two cents anyway

        • @eltito: thanks for sharinh , can you handle 200mb graphics? I did some research, 15inch uses differnt graphics but also costly

        • @luckylast: Yeh the 15inch one would probably be suffice for gaming (if that’s what u wanted) along with editing and stuff. In saying that i’m sure you can find other companies with a possible slightly cheaper product with better specs than mac 15inch

        • @eltito: thanks, no games at all for, only used for graphic editing purpose.

  • The stores that have these sales never seem to have the 128gb space grey model.

    • In the previous sale I bought it online then traded it in-store for the color I wanted once in stock.

    • It's available now incase you were still looking.

  • +1

THis was cheaper a while ago with nearly 20% off.

    • +2

Can't find my keys to my time machine though so this will have to do.

  • Just bought one
