Updated redmi Note 4X cheaper with speedy DHL delivery

    https://shopmonk.com.au/xiaomi-redmi-note-4x?storage=332&col…

Sorry mate, have to neg this

    • How is $206 cheaper than $190 - also posted it as it seemed a popular deal at a very similar price less than 2 months ago…

      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/324382

      • That's 64gb version

      • The 32 GB is $188, $206 is for 64 GB

        • +1

Ahhh fair enough - you confused me with a link to 64gb… Good price then ;)

        • +1

@urbancartel: it opened in 64 GB always, hence the confusion

        • +1

          $185 for the other colours

        • +2

and AU $169.00 for 16GB… I guess cheaper for other colours.
They don't make it easy to find the prices

      • 32 GB Gold color is $188

      • +1

change storage to 32g and colour to grey on that link and its $185 . So yeah.

    • Also yours has 64gb onboard

      • +2

it's dual sim so if you are using dual SIMS go with 64GB as you can't add memory card if using 2 sims.

Shopmonk = Shop and pray ;-)

14 days and waiting, lucky to get one reply on 12th day after multiple attempts - "Please note that an email with tracking number will be sent to you as soon as your order is dispatched"

      Not a lot of diff between 4 & 4x
      https://www.gsmarena.com/compare.php3?idPhone1=8580&idPhone2…
      http://www.techadvisor.co.uk/review/android-smartphones/xiao…

"Scan the spec sheet and you’ll notice a few other tweaks that you probably wouldn’t have realised had we not pointed them out: Bluetooth has been updated from 4.1 to 4.2, but 802.11ac Wi-Fi connectivity has been removed; the Samsung S5K3L8 sensor has been switched for a same-spec Sony IMX258; the IR port has moved over to the side on the top edge; and the screws that previously sat either side of the Micro-USB port are now gone. You also get MIUI 8.1, though of course you can easily update the OS on the earlier Redmi Note 4."

I bought the Redmi Note 4X and I had it delivered in 5 days from date of ordering, didn't know the experience was bad for some as mostly Shopmonk had positive review

        • +1

They sometimes lack in communication but overall I find them to be the best. My first port of call for a new phone.

        • +1

@xywolap: I'm thinking of the same too

        • Is Shopmonk a Scam? Customer Service Not Responding
          https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/325442

        • i bought my xiaomi vacuum from them and had it within a week too.

          would use again,

i made the mistake of buying a 32gb redmi note 4x from gearbest… taking ages to ship it

        • @sktzr: Gearbest had awful shipping times, I was surprised with shop monk

        • Hi, did you buy 32 or 64 GB? Did you receive the one with Snapdragon or Mediatek?

        • +1

@PT18: I bought the 16 GB and received the SnapDragon version. But back then it was advertised as SnapDragon, so not sure about now

        • @kamban: Lucky you. Well, when I purchased mine, it also had SD 625 advertised as was later on changed to Helio X20…

        • +1

@PT18: Oh damn, some sellers are sneaky with this, the MEdiatek version overheats :(

Hope yours works fine and also maybe use PayPal to raise a case for a refund

        • +1

@kamban: nope, I am not opening the box. As soon as I received parcel, I checked the processor details on the back of the box and decided that I wasn't going to open the box and return straight away. It doesn't seem to be international model either. Yep, have heard of overheating/lack of ROM updates issues with Helio…

        • +1

@PT18: That's a good call. Sometimes the vendors install tampered ROMs on the Chinese versions ( not maliciously ) and that's a huge pain.

I always install a clean international ROM for the Xiaomi phones that I buy from any overseas buyers ( I'm a bit paranoid about this )

        • @kamban: Totally agree. Good idea to just install a clean international ROM.

    • +1

I'm not filled with a lot of confidence with buying from Shopmonk in they don't seem to list if it's the Global or International version - unless i'm missing something?

      • +1

What's the difference between global and international, i thought those would mean the same thing?.

      • +2

I bought this from them. 100% international rom, no bloat. Ran MIUI auto updates afterwards. Great phone.

      • It's global. From the $135 deal a month or two ago.

        • +1

That was for the 4X BTW. Not the 4.

      • Their product description is a bit lacking but their product, price and speed of delivery is the best.
The rom is fine, auto updates etc..

    • +1

I would be very cautious with Shopmonk after their last Redmi Note 4/4X deal… The screwed a few people around.
(https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/331903), I'm sure I read similar posts on Whirlpool too.

Although GearBest has also had a shady reputation, I'm pretty sure it's better than Shopmonk's. You just have to wait a bit longer for your things, but my stuff has always arrived.

      • +1

That was a very frustrating issue with shopmonk!

    • How do you chose DHL delivery method or is it default shipping method on Shopmonk?

    • It's the MediaTek version, so even though they share the name, it's slightly different. The Snapdragon one is better for updates/ROMs and power usage.

  • Which one better for taking photos? 4X or 4 ?

    • I read reports that Google HDR camera can be installed on the 4X which makes it a little better, not sure if both use the same camera module

      • Only ones if Sony or Samsung sensors, not OmniVision.
The ones I received from Shopmonk were Samsung.

        • Read note #3 on this link, looks like it works on both Redmi note 4 and 4X :

          https://forum.xda-developers.com/redmi-note-4/themes/google-…

        • +2

@kamban: only works with Snapdragon SoCs. The 4X in your link was a MediaTek Helio..

        • @TheContact: they must have switched to MediaTek recently, I bought the international Snapdragon version few days back

        • +1

@TheContact: it really depends if you’re opening link on PC or mobile. PC shows SD625 but mobile shows Mediatek. I have already just purchased 64G version but confirming with Shopmonk that it is SD625, or else dont want it.

        • I lucked out my 16 gig 4x from shopmonk has omnivision camera.

        • +1
        • @PT18:

So I received my Note 4X today… with Helio X20! Definitely not the one I ordered. Very frustrating experience.

It's funny how they seem to change the description and change CPU to Helio X20 on their website as soon as someone brings it to their attention. But by then, many poor people would already have placed orders….

          Oh well, time for refund.

    • We have been taking pics on our 2 4x's (one has samsung and the other omnivision sensor) and they are fantastic.
In your camera settings change the quality to max and if you are taking a pic of something with no movement unblock the HDR option in the top right of the screen before you take the pic.
No need for additional software at all.

    • I am also looking for a phone to take photos when I am travelling to Japan, also want to know if it is a good spare phone to have for the price for this purpose.

      • Spare phone yes, camera phone no

        • Thanks. Will pass this then.

  • +1

Shopmonk deal is better. Sorry GB, try harder.

  • +1

Gearbest had a special deal for Note 4X 32GB @ $119.99 USD last month. I pulled the trigger and it arrived with several scratches and chips on the back. Had to return to get the refund so remember to use Paypal in case you need free return shipping cost.

    • +1

Yes ordered two for family members too. Both were open and scratches with boxes squashed. In contrast to this, the Shopmonk ones were sealed and in pristine condition thanks to the packaging.

  • +1

I got the Chinese 3GB/64GB version from DWI for $186 the other day - with express postage. The Chinese version has the 10 core X20 chip which is faster than the SD625, but probably not as good on power. The battery lasts for ages regardless.

    • +1

yeah but mediatek sucks and will prob be stuck on 6.0 forever

  • +3

I'm super confused with xiaomi phones. Which phone would be good for a daily user for Facebook, Instagram, ozbargain and youtube/Netflix. I'm looking to spend under $200 and the redmi note 4x looks good. But I don't know which model what's. global vs international. Any help would be appreciated.
edit: Also what about 4g in main cities, eg perth?

  • Website shows MediaTek processor?
I thought it was SD in International versions

    • +1

I think the 4gb/64gb version only comes with Mediatek processor.

      • +2

Nope comes in the SD625 as well and then you have the Chinese or International (global) version of each.

  • Noob Question: In the handset, how can you actually know if it is a Snapdragon or a Mediatek Processor?

I am looking at a friend’s Note 4 in ‘About Phone’ section.. It shows the CPU as Octa-core Max 2.0 GHz. Does this mean a Snapdragon processor?

    • +5

If it reads octacore then it's Snapdragon and if it reads decacore is MTK.

For other info like processor number and details, ask your friend to download app named download app named CPU - Z. Both of you will get the answer in app home screen.

      Hope this helps.

      • Thanks for that

  • +1

Do you know if this model on Shopmonk are Mediatek or SD 625? Weird, if you open the link above posted by Kamban on PC, it shows SD625 but if you open the same URL on mobile, it shows MediaTek.
