1070
PULL20

This is a great price for this TV. Buy it while you can if you are in the market for one.

$400 cheaper than the current HarveyNorman deal.

Not sure if the deal will be pulled or not as it seems a bit too cheap.

Don't forget cashrewards. Good luck.

  • Nice!

  • nearly half the price of a 75n7 ($2965)…..

trying to decide on either buying the 65 or 75inch N7……..

    • bigger is always better.. LOLL … waiting for 75 to be price of 65 … (i think i said this about 65 being price 55 .. hahaha)… guess i'll never get a TV! … will stick with my 42inch panasonic plasma for now…

in all seriousness just measure how far you'll be and if the extra size will matter in the room you have in mind for the TV. if it doesn't then save yourself $1400k … thats all 3 consoles currently out.. haha

      • +18

$1.4mil seems like a good amount to save!

        • +1

hahaha oops … bitcoin maths sorry

    • I think last years 75 inch model got to about $2500 by the end of the year…. just wait a bit longer….

    • I picked up a 75 m7000 earlier this year for 2450 but had to take it back due to the reds on the model just not being up to scratch, tried 3 different TVs and they were all the same. I have been waiting for the 75N7 to drop to that sort of price but it hasn't come close. Saw this price and thought I'll save the money and get this now. No more waiting. I had pretty much decided i'd buy a 65 inch oled for 3.5k when they hit that price point if i had not got the 75N7 before then.

Was hesitant with this but for the price cant really lose. Might be kicking myself if the 75n7 comes in at $2300 in the next month. Bigger is better but this will tide me over for a few years and hopefully by then large OLED prices will be down.

      • +1

There has been some great deals on the LG c7 65inch oled lately ($3996), I could see it being a touch closer to that price during the boxing day sales.

        • yeah i had a strict 3.5k for the oled and even that was 1k over my strict(haha) 2.5k for a new tv. It's getting close but not quite there yet. But now i grabbed this deal my TV search is over for now. Be interested to see how the OLED pricing goes over the next 24 months.

        • @rakerr:

Gosh, haven't we all been waiting for OLED for years now? Tired of waiting!

    • +1

Im leaning towards the 75n7, only because its Direct-lit, where as the 55 & 65n7 are both edge-lit….. but is it worth the extra $1315 (according to http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/archive/2608487 since there are not specs on the hisense webpage….)

      • wheres the direct lit reference to the 75n7?

  • Can anyone with one of these comment on how good these are for gaming in terms of input lag? My old Samsung LCD TV makes it mighty hard to play twitchier games like Rocket League.

    • Depends how fussy you are with the input lag. It would be good for general gaming but if you're a competitive gamer/fps gamer, you're better off playing on a monitor rather than a TV.

      • +3

Just imagine having to lug it around when you go to a lanparty

@OnlinePred: Isn't it a party only people named Ian can attend?

        • @John Kimble: looks like you've been denied entry before John

        • @buckster: Only one Ian can attend these parties :(

        • +2

@John Kimble: I've heard that WAN parties are fairly quiet affairs too

    • Yeah would like to know this as well + What is the refresh rate ?

      • 100hz

    • I play on a monitor but played the new cod beta on this tv and couldn't really notice any input lag. It has to be pretty low..

      • around 32ms.

  • I spotted the N7 dropped as well, I think this thing went on sale today across all the retailers.

Great timing with TGG 20% still in effect till tonight

    • Where else have you seen it?

      • Harvey Norman had the 1995 price on Friday other retailers matched. But GG ebay didnt until today.

      • JB, HN, BL.. all of them

  • Purchased the 55 for $1200. Do I feel like a fool now….

    • Depends if your room is large enough for the 65. If your couch isn't far enough away from the TV, you'll end up with strained eyes

      • -1

Yea if you sit close like 1-1.5m from TV then 50-55" is fine. If you sit further away then you got to scale it up quickly. I sit 2m away so 55 is quite small

        • +4

What is this? A lounge room for ants?

        • Uh.. What. You're practically on top of the tv at 2m.

Sir, I don't think you'll be satisfied until you get the video directly rigged to your brain.

        • @vickers: is thx standards? Have you ever gone to a cinema lol?

        • +1

@justtoreply: before down voting, perhaps read up a little.

          http://www.customht.com.au/blog/thx-viewing-distance-calcula…

Basically, your can't tell the difference between 4k and 1080 if your area too far away. On a 55 your would have to sit 1.5m away to tell the difference.

        • @OnlinePred:

          Don't assume i down voted, because i didn't..

Thx isn't independent (they are selling a product) and I wouldn't trust their standard to be based on unbiased research.

Personally i feel the numbers aren't right. I feel you can see the difference at a greater distance. Mind you, I always surprise people when I can read tiny print at long distances. Perhaps thx is based on the average user, assuming they did testing at all.

Don't follow a standard blindly unless you know how the contents were derived is my advice (and maybe they do make it clear, I refuse to go looking, too low of a priority)

        • @justtoreply: although many do use this as a baseline when setting up their home theatre, there are many others.

          https://static3.gamespot.com/uploads/original/99/999496/3177…

It is based on visibility of pixels, but also having to move your head around to view the picture.

Anyway all good, I used to set up premium home theatre systems and many clients asked the performance screen size to go against thx recommended viewing distance. If you watch a lot of movies it's very much worth it, it adds to immersion greatly

  • +2

I imagine Ozbargainers with garages chock full of big screen TVs.

    • Yeah it's good to have a spare

      • +1

        … or 30.

I should know. I took a look at how many mobile phones and wifi modems I have.

If tech stood still and I lived to be 300, I wouldn't make use of them all….I bought some of them at $5 for the USB cables alone!

Thankfully I've not done that with TVs. My main TV is a $2k 55" Sony Full HD I bought about 5 years ago, maybe more. I'm not really tempted to upgrade. Still works fine except the idiotic silicone oil inside the remote from the crappy rubber keypad Sony make that I keep having to clean out to get the remote working again.

        • Did you buy the nokia windows phones as well? I've got a few from DSE can't even remember why, but I think they were paying me to buy them.

        • @Soluble:

I have a couple of Lumia 532s - Never bought the higher end phones.

Was disgusted with the Win 10 phone updates. I literally couldn't turn off updates - I could only set a window of 4 hours where they could happen. That meant I couldn't use it while on call, because if I forgot to move the 4 hour window before going to bed, the phone could decide to reboot itself and be offline for upwards of 20 mins.

I could not for the life of me understand that. Picture a situation where you're out at a party and someone has a medical emergency. "Sorry I can't call emergency services because my phone is updating!". Really?! I have no use for a phone that behaves like that. Not even for $39.

I kept the other phone on win 8 which let you reliably turn off update, and I consider the one I upgraded to be a toy for playing with Win 10 phone (Kinda not worth doing now). Also even though I don't think there are updates, 8 runs HERE MAPS which is better than what replaced it. I am not upset that Microsoft have killed off Windows Phone because they sc***ed the pooch with 10.

    • A true ozbargainer would have a garage built with bargain flat screen TV's, held together with Eneloops.

  • Any good Hisense TV 55 for under 1k? Just for Netflix.

You can get the 55N6 for $876 in this Good Guys deal.

Seems decent for 55" 4K HDR, with built in Netflix, Stan, etc

The 55N7 is no doubt better, but $1116 in this deal

      • I guess for people that don't watch sport, the 55N6 would be OK. No 100Hz/motion smoothing kills it for me though. Local dimming and wide colour gamut also on the N7. Of course, different price range as you point out.

        • Pretty sure the N6 has local dimming and some sort of motion compensation. That's not to say it's any good. I always turn all that processing crap off, although I've never had an LCD, only plasmas and now an OLED :)

But yeah $876 seems good for a semi decent brand 55" with this sort of feature set.

        • +1

          @chromium:

Thanks for the correction. You're right. It looks like the main difference is wide colour gamut which is not a dealbreaker for me. I might have to have another look at this one and see how the panel compares to the N7 :)

  • wow, bought this tv a few months back for a bit over 21k. absolutely love it. only one complain is that the price drop so quick. :(

        Just checked online:

"AFTER YOU BUY. If you do find a lower advertised price within 30 days of your purchase, The Good Guys will happily Payback 120% of the difference. There are no exclusions periods and you can claim online any time! The 30 Day Price Guarantee covers all The Good Guys products every day of the year."

Have sent them an email through Ebay -the guys in our local store where I picked it up didn't want anything to do with this….

        • +3

I know they do that for their stores, I don't know if they do it for eBay. Hopefully they do.

        • +2

          @FabMan:
Looks like credit card wont be an option as they require a printed catalog (2017, seriously?)

          Price guarantee cover.
Price guarantee is a benefit available to Westpac cardholders
when new personal goods are purchased anywhere in Australia
and the entire cost is charged to the cardholder’s eligible credit
          card account.
This scheme guarantees the cardholder gets the best price if,
within 21 days after the purchase of a personal good, they advise
us that they have subsequent to their purchase, received a printed
catalogue showing the same personal good (same model number
and same model year), by the same manufacturer, for a lower
price from a store within 25 kilometers of the store from where
the personal good was purchased, and the price difference is
          greater than A$75.
The cheaper personal good must be:
          ■ the same model number; and
          ■ same model year; and
          ■ produced by the same manufacturer as the personal good you
          had previously purchased.
The catalogue showing the cheaper article must have been
printed after the date you purchased the personal good.
You must report (make a claim) the cheaper article to Zurich within
21 days of the purchase of the personal good. This is because
Zurich only provides cover for cheaper items reported within 21
days of the date of purchase of the original personal good.
Provided the price difference is greater than A$75 you will be
refunded the price difference up to A$300.

        • @BlueDiesel: Bugger… You should make and print your own catalog.

      • lets see what excuse they come back with:

"I purchased this TV from you on Friday for $2295.00 .
I noticed that you and Harvey Norman (see attached screenshots) both offer the TV for $1995.00 .
Hence I wanted to request a price match for this purchase."

        • "The Good Guys 30 Day Price Guarantee does not apply to ebay pricing. "

          But I also noticed this:

          "What is the return policy?

If you have received your order and you wish to return it, the item must be returned within 30 days after you have received it and the packaging must be unopened or in a sellable condition. You will have to pay the return postage or take it into your nearest The Good Guys store."

So I think I might just order a second one and return it with the tax invoice of the first one?!

        • @BlueDiesel:

          Garbage.

They have dropped the price of the TV on their own website $300 since Friday. Has nothing to do with ebay.

        • @Toretto:

But unfortunately on the Goodguys Ebay poduct page when you check the small-print it states: "The Good Guys 30 Day Price Guarantee does not apply to ebay pricing"

        • @BlueDiesel:

"Why is ebay excluded from the 30 Day Price Guarantee?
ebay operates in an online marketplace independently from The Good Guys. Orders we fulfil on ebay are for ebay customers and made under the ebay terms of trade.
Under our agreement with ebay, our outlet store on their site must agree to participate in a number of promotional days that are planned by ebay directly. ebay determines the dates and basis of these promotions.
Our PAY LESS Price Promises are everyday benefits we offer to customers of The Good Guys. These benefits are not generally extended to customers of independent online business."

        • +1

          @BlueDiesel:

Shame. I too had my eye on this TV (and the Sammys) but thought it would be best to wait and see if the price dropped over the course of the 20% off promo and sure enough it did. The prices fluctuate all the time and it had been below 2295 before.

If you have the capacity and can be bothered to go through the trouble, I would just buy another and return the one youve got to circumvent their technicality

        • +2

          @Toretto:

Just bought another one 5 minutes ago ;-) and will return it with the receipt of the first one. Not going to sit here and wait for their ebay store to respond in a couple of days just to tell me that I should have read their fine print. And after discount it is still $240 difference, so in my opinion well worth the effort.

Will pick up the new one drive around the block and return it with the receipt of the first purchase.

        • -1

          @BlueDiesel:

But what about the serial number?

          Lol

        • @Myright:

Good point but I just checked and the SIN number on the receipt does not match the Serial on the TV but the number on the sticker on the side of the box (looks like it has been put on pick up).
So this will have to be removed ;-) Thanks for bringing that up!!

Also found thisreply to a question on facebook:
The Good Guys: Hi Verity. The SIN number on the tax invoice will not be the serial number of the machine. The serial number will be listed on the machine itself. In the case you have been unable to find it, let us know your invoice or docket number and we will find out where the serial number is listed on that particular machine. Thanks for your assistance.

Nah don't think anyone has been that nice to deserve a gift in this price bracket.

I think I'll take it home and swap the outer shell (box) completely and than return it. Just in case. Should be easy enough as it all lifts out as one piece more or less.

        • @Myright:

          Just a quick update.

    • +1

I got the LG OLED last week, those blacks are so damn black. I was playing Xbox in the dark last night and on black screens I couldn't even see the TV, it just blended into the night

    • I think I'm waiting for next gen lg oled, due to vertical banding in the current gen

Something that OCD people look for and see when they put up a 5% grey scale image :) I doubt you'd see it in normal use.

No TV is perfect and if you look for issues you can be pretty certain you'll find them

        • @chromium:

To be fair, i haven't demo'd the screen yet. I have other priorities that mean luxuries will have to wait…

But really, as a consumer I do think they should have ironed out the kinks on expensive goods.

Great price, so tempting especially over the 75 inch (price wise)… really struggling to not pull the trigger. Maybe I should walk away till midnight and say 'dam missed it'

    • I'm in the same boat…!

      • +2

Any more room in that boat?

I don't really need a 75" but I WANT a 75", and that's the only thing stopping me from making this purchase (even though 65" is probably all I need and the price is right).

Then again, my 50" Pana Plasma is still working perfectly fine, so maybe I don't need either…. hmmmmm

        • The boat is pretty full…

I think lets all hold hands and take a long walk along the beach and wait for the deal to expire.

        • 75inch is great, you definitely will think you did the right thing once you plonk one of them in your lounge room.

    • I so wanted 75" one and was waiting for a good deal on that but ended up buying this at this price ! 65" isn't bad too.

  • Typical just my luck bought this yesterday thought I got a pretty good deal for $1800, couldn't wait 5 minutes.
