  • Oh wows! This is the good price ones. I like it

  • Does this need a power supply to power up?

    • +1

      Pi 3 needs a 5V, 2.5A power supply. Make sure it's 5V, 2.5 Amps.
Don't skimp out by giving it cheap and dirty power.

      • Is anyone aware of a deal with the case and PSU included?

  • good deal

  • +2

Great price. Gotta love the $148.44

  • Page advertises Free Postal Service - No Tracking

However, that option is disabled during checkout. So how exactly do I get the free shipping?

Also, cashback from Australian cashback companies are a joke. Go to LeMoney for 5% (or 19% if you choose this as your monthly Turbo Cashback purchase) or Top Cashback for 12%

i'm checking the shipping system now, seems some wrong happen.

    • +2

done, flash it again you will get free shipping now

Got two. Can't get enough of these gems. They are replacing Macbook Airs here previously used for presentations.

    • +1

What OS are you using? Raspbian?

      • Ubuntu Mate. https://ubuntu-mate.org/raspberry-pi/ Has LO Impress already pre-installed. With tweaking we have it going with full screen video inserts on 720p projectors.

        • Will need to try it out. Thanks foxpro.

  • How can you claim they were $148

  • +2

I recommend installing Kano and giving it to the kids to learn how to program through playing games.

    • do you need anything extra except from Raspberry Pi 3 + screen + keyboard + Kano(SD Card)?

      • +1

You do not require anything extra to run Kano.

There is a set of exercises that uses a custom LED board, but there is an onscreen simulator.
You can buy a kit with a 'custom' keyboard and screen but 100% not necessary.
In fact some of taks can be done entirely online.

  • A question to anyone who might want to answer, I picked up a Pi Zero W to use with retropie, I downloaded an image to test it out, it loads however I feel like I have to jiggle around and balance the HDmi cable to get an image on the screen. For a time I thought it was because the power supply wasn't providing enough power, so I used a 2.1A tablet charger, and I also changed some number in a at extra file that provides more power to the video output and it might have got a bit better but hard for me to say.

So my question is are the HDmi ports notoriously brittle and is this a problem lots of people have? Because it was pretty much like that on first use

  • why do we have to pay is USD ends up being essentially the same price as AUD

    • ??? Are you asking why US$30.99 works out to about A$39.45 delivered?
Or do you know somewhere that we can get this price (plus cashback) from an Australian seller?

      • the original post states to change the currency to USD and make final payment in USD, when i do that it ends up being $40.87aud plus conversion fees, if i leave the currency in Aud it is $41.62

        • +1

You are doing it wrong. You shouldn't even seeing the amount in AUD if you have setup your PayPal properly to use your credit card conversion.

More info here in this deal description :

          https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/332196

        • @batrarobin: Most Banks will charge for the conversion fee

        • @asa79:

Yes I know but the OP is seeing the amount in AUD ($40.87aud) which tells me that it's PayPal checkout screen showing that amount which means it is setup to use Credit Card currency conversion.

  • Lightinthebox are now selling them at USD54.99. Pretending to be 51% off $110.53?? Instead of the 71% off USD148.44 advertised previously when they sold for USD30.99. As one can buy these units for USD35 at any day at Amazon, how can a merchant get away with such a consumer misleading policy? I will stay away from them now.

  • Price went back up?

  • Anyone received theirs yet?

  • mine hasnt showed up and they arent responding to emails.

    • Yep. I've initiated a PayPal dispute in case. Ridiculously long shipping time.
Won't be buying from LITB again…

    • Mine finally showed up yesterday (7 weeks from ordering). Package kind of squished, so hopefully it works…

      • still waiting on mine. :(
