Is it Australian stock or grey import? This is a good price, but it had been cheaper for Australian stock. I bought one from officeworks for $1394(128GB) last month, during eBay 18 years anniversary.

It ships from Hong Kong. Forgot to put in title, just did it

    • Definitely Grey Import.

  • does it come with GST tax receipt?

    • +3

its grey import so it doesn't. But they take care of all import charges

  • Any idea if this be covered by official Apple warranty?

    • +1

I’m not sure, but my guess is no because it’s a grey import.

Macbooks have 1-year international warranty from Apple, so yes, this will be covered.
Saying that though, Macbooks purchased in Australia will be covered for longer (2 years off the top of my head) under the Australian Consumer law.

Edited to add: also for those interested, you can still buy Apple Care (Apple's version of extended waranty and support) in Australia for grey imported Macbooks (must to be purchased within 12 months from innitial purchase date)

      Edit2: can't grammar

      • Thanks, that clears it up. Still conflicted between this and the Officeworks clearance of the 2016 model.

        • Now it’s really up to you, whether you want to get this for cheaper, with a 1 year warranty, or get a 2 year warranty with an older model but higher price.

    256 is really enough? >.>

    • You can always get an external HDD/SSD :)

  • Any reason I should get this instead of this deal for $700 less with roughly the same specs?

    • +2

I guess Macbook are more durable than acer/asus other than that pros of Macbook is battery. If you keep on changing laptops in every 1 to 2 years Acer might be good option.

    • You're comparing Apples and Oranges Acers, it doesn't work like that.

If you're a Windows mango Acer

      • aside from the external casing and OS, what is different about another laptop with similar specs?

        • Build quality?

And people generally buy macs for the OS,so it's part of the price difference.

(though I find it harder to justify that price gap these days)

        • @SBOB:

Maybe. A 2015 consumer report came up with a 10% chance of macbook failing within 3 years vs Acer at 18% and a whole bunch of brands at 19%. Not really good enough odds for the price difference imo. Oh well… They'll always have a market.

    • Macs have much higher resale value. Even after 5 years.

My experience with them last time wasn’t good. The MacBook sent to me in a damaged box, few tiny scratches and dents on the lid. And it was from Malaysia so I couldn’t activate the warranty.

Returned it to Vaya via PayPal and now they are selling it with diff. ACC on ebay, mymobileau!

    • Did you had to pay tax?

      • No , they already covered it

  • Dear apple, why STILL no touch screen and stylus? And oh yeah, security finger print reader across the board and a 50% price drop while your at it.

And check out against apple refirb too https://www.apple.com/au/shop/browse/home/specialdeals/mac/m…
