WD 2TB Elements USB 3.0 Portable HDD $89.10 Delivered

A further 10% off the $99 deal which is the new price.

All items include free delivery by courier (usually next day)

Toshiba Canvio Basics 2TB Portable USB3 HDD $89.10 Delivered

Same deal as the WD above, if you prefer Toshiba over WD. Generally people seem to prefer WD from previous deal comments but either should be good otpions.

Amazon Kindle Paperwhite $147.60 Delivered

Available in black & white. A decent price although we've seen a bit cheaper a couple months ago $139 at Myer for those who got it honoured.

Apple AirPods $202.50 Delivered

Not the $183.20 people were hoping from the Myer deal but at $202.50 it's not a bad price for Australian stock if you wanted to get some now. Comparing to recent deals, $199 for grey import stock from ShopMonk or $209/$190 at Myer. You can also try your local JB and ask for their best price, some users have managed to get it at $190 or $199 but it's by no means guaranteed.

iPhone 8 64GB Silver $944.10 Delivered (RRP $1079)

Only 2 left so not included in title/main link

Edit: Apple Pencil $130.50 Delivered

Decent price, similar to previous deals.

  • You can get the AirPods for $195.80 by price matching Telstra on the phone and referencing the discount code as “ACCESS10” which brings it down to $206.10 and a further 5% price beat. I reckon the Myer listing will be up eventually though.

    • "Cash back and coupon offers" are excluded from Officeworks price beat.

Yeah that's true about Myer listing, might be worth holding out a few days.

      • Oh damn, I’ve had no issues in the past with it, maybe I just got lucky.. Myer really need to list everything ASAP.

    • Myer listing? Is that Myer's eBay sale you're referencing? Thinking they might re-add AirPods to their eBay store or is this something else?

      • +1

Yeah doweyy is referring to the Myer eBay 20% off sale and that they may add Airpods to their eBay store in the near future to get 20% off (making it $183.20).

      • Airpods listed now, deal link.

  • Anyone know if the WD drive is removable?

    • Looking at this comment, it seems probably not but not 100% sure.

      • Thanks, so the Toshiba might be removable.

        • +1

Yes, the WD is not removable (well you can remove it but the PCB is soldered)
Toshiba is removable but their RMA is crap
Seagate is also removable with good RMA (no Qs asked) but those I got delivered from OW have questionable quality…

        • @brokenglish: In what way was the Seagate of questionable quality?

        • @brokenglish:

          How is Toshiba's RMA crap?

        • +1

          @dftba: I have bought > 20 of this for work https://www.officeworks.com.au/shop/officeworks/p/seagate-2t…

Within 3-6 months, the main problem I have with most of these are slow read/write speed.
It fluctuates between 20-50-100MB/s for large file > 5GB.
Sometimes you can hear subtle clicking (still usable) - for these drives, the write speed max only 80MB/s.
Also the access time for the drives are a bit slower than the WD/Toshiba counterpart.
If you go to My Computer and open these drives, the loading time before it opens the list of folders can take up to 5s (including subfolders). At first I thought it was due to my old PC build, but nope, the drives.

Meanwhile with WD/Toshiba, the read/write speed is constant 90-100MB/s, no loading time when you open their folders too.

I opened all these drives, they are all 5400rpm.

@JH100: For Seagate/WD, if you believe something is wrong, you just go online, put your HDD P/N and S/N in, then you get the RMA document to ship to their address. Within a week you'll get a new refurbished unit.

          With Toshiba OMG..
I dont know if they have made an update to their process, but I had to RMA 3x Canvio again last Dec. Warranty document on the drive box and https://support.toshiba.com/warranty will tell you visit this link, that link, click here and there so many times, it just keeps going back and forth.
When I thought I found the online link like Seagate/WD, it only works for Murican customers :(
For AU, you have to either:
          - Go back to the shop you bought it from (what crap, you're lucky if they serve you and not tell you to contact Toshiba directly), or
          - Call their support, tell all your problems, then you'll get the RMA document from them via email if they deem your drives are faulty.
Took me > 2 weeks to get the RMA sorted.
Count the anxiety and stress not knowing they will honour their warranty or not.

@brokenglish: Of course you should take it back to the store. They are legally obliged to sort it out for you and will act promptly if you start spouting the trade practices act. I’ve always found Officeworks prompt and helpful in this regard.

        • @brokenglish:

          Thanks for the rundown mate.

Looks like none of them cover the bases. Seagate has speed/or issues, WD is soldered into the box, and Toshiba don't like taking back damaged goods.

But as roller says above/below OW are good with returns - my experience too. So it looks like Toshiba wins my money - since I'd be buying local and can return to store if necessary.

  • Anyone know if the WD 2TB Elements USB 3.0 Portable HDD needs a power brick?

    • It's USB powered. No power supply is required on this portable HDD.

  • Tempted by the kindle.
Wondering if I should go secondhand instead and save 40-50$, or if that might result in headache down the line.

  • Can anyone comment on if the 2017 MacBook is worth the extra ~50% over the 2016 model in this sale? Sale price here is ~$1,250 and the 2017 is ~$1,800 elsewhere.

  • I prefer the Seagate 2TB one, same price anyway

  • Cheers, bought 5 of the WD 2TB, was going to use gift cards for 5% but this is better!

    • Wow!!! Making back ups, buying for others, making a 2.5 HDD array etc.? Just plain curious why you are getting 5. I usually buy 1 or 2 when needed since these deals come around often enough.

    • If you are buying that much the 3TB would be more Byte for your buck - $41.67 vs $44.5 per TB.
