Edit: Could not get any more stock of this phone but got a deal for the 32GB version, https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/339697

A bit of a late night deal for those still up or at work like me. This is a fantastic budget phone, I got one earlier in the year from Shopmonk. I needed to buy another one so I messaged the rep from Gearbest and she has kindly given me a code. She could not quite match this Shopmonk deal, but has gone very close. It also includes Registered Airmail so hopefully should get here quicker than all those other little Xiaomi gadgets. I also got Shipping Insurance for $4.xx, for that extra piece of mind. Don't forget Cashrewards like I did!!

NOTE: No B28! Ours is on ALDI mobile but 4G still works fine most places we go.

Limited to 60 units only / 3 times per account

given the fast depreciation in the AUD in recent weeks this is about the same price as the shopmonk deal. Hope shopmonk does a deal in response to this.

  • How's the battery life?

    • +3

I don't own one but based purely on the specs sheet it has a Snapdragon 625 processor (very power efficient) paired with a 4100 mah battery (bigger than average) = happy days

Some users report around 8 hours screen on time which translates to about 2 days usage between charges

      Very very good

Battery life is great, easily 2 days with medium usage.

I have a Xiaomi Note 3 Pro, so basically last years model equivalent of this.

Battery life has been fantastic. The most specific details on how many hours i can remember is this. Woke up on a monday morning caught public transport to and from uni (3 and a half hours all up), i was listening to music the whole time, whilst playing games and or internetting on 4g at the same time, also another hour or so of the same while at uni. The at least another 1.5 hours of either games or internetting when at home for the day. All of this at probably 2/3s brightness. left it off charge overnight. Woke up tuesday and did the exact same as monday if not a little more use. very late tuesday night i looked and battery was still at 25%.
To be honest i think i am actually underexaggerating how much i used it those two days as well

TL:DR probably at least 9-10 hours of music, 10 hours or so of games and 4G browsing (8-9 of at the same time as the music) all while at 2/3s brightness, over the space of 2 days without any charging and it was still at 25% battery

With lighter use of a few hours music and 4G each day i have had it last a week easily.

        I love Kate.

      • You running a custom ROM or using miui?

        • Just the Global version of Miui that it shipped with.

Shouldn't we wait for Redmi Note 5, which may be announced next week (or 2)?

    • +2

yeah maybe might get that then it has dual camera and looks like will be priced around $200AUD

      • I doubt it will be that cheap for importing to Oz on the day it's released.

          http://www.techradar.com/news/xiaomi-redmi-note-5

RRP Projected to be around RMB999 which is ~ AUD 196.5 at current mid rates.

plus $20 for postage probably $220 all up for base 16gb/3gb version? Sweet deal if its gonna really be snapdragon 660 plus dual camera.

        • +1

@KangaBanga: but then it will compete with Xiaomi Note 3 which also uses SD660.

        • +2

@hawkeye10: Probably it will compete, but the Xiaomi Mi Note 3 will come in 64GB/128GB, with 6GB RAM paired with the SD660 and some other higher end features like the 16mp selfie cam.

I reckon Xiaomi's plan is just to hit every single segment of the low to mid-range mobile phone market with every possible configuration they can think of. Very soon you can probably order a mobile phone customized to the specs you want like ordering a dell laptop.

  • code expired!

Looks like it has expired already, 165 clicks and only 13 plus votes. I will mark it expired for now and see if the rep can release some more stock.

      • We love you

      • any luck?

      • Actually bought one the night before ($170 sheesh) for the wife's bootlooping Nexus 5x and was about to buy this for myself when the inevitable happens to my 5x… Guess I'll hold out and see if another deal pops up.

        • If you're not in a hurry, eBay usually does some good 10-15% off deals near Xmas and also the Redmi Note 5 will be announced soon apparently. I'm a bit sick of waiting though so I'll snatch one if a good deal comes along.

  • Good phone for the price.

Assume this comes with global rom?

    • Assume this comes with global rom?

Irrelevant. ALWAYS flash the rom yourself, in case the seller or distributor has slipped malware onto it before shipping.

It seems there is no B28 for Telstra 4G? How about Mi Note?

  • I ordered one of these on Oct 20.
A week later it had not shipped (whereas a later order had), so I cancelled it on the 28th Oct.
I then got the message: "From now until 5th Oct, we will have a public holiday. This may delay the response to your messages."
The actual refund actually cam though on the 30th so not sure what that was about!
