        • @argonbay: Oh yeah that does make sense. As a short term trade for the points then yeah some of the other 'old' LICs would be the least volatile.

  • +1

This sucks im new to them only 2-3 months old :(

  • I only have demo account, am I still eligible?

  • Been with IG for Stockmarket trading more than a year, and I find their platform excellent.

    • +1

The platform is crap, especially the web version which looks like it came from 2000s, the mobile version is a bit better but still. Also, you can't trade options in a shareholding account, you need to open a CFD account for this. But, they have a lot of markets/stocks and low commissions, from this point of view they are great.

  • perfect! About to do a short term holding on a speccie, get in and get out once it hit target/stop-loss and get 10k Qantas points!

    Tks op!

    • Does it have a decent spread? Lots of speccies have low trading volume, so the bid could be $0.035 with a $0.040 ask. To buy you have to pay the $0.040 and if you want to sell, you're forced to sell for $0.035 or wait for a bidder to come along.

      • didn't try the CFD. I only signed up to Sharetrading, which I assume is just straight execution on the ASX/Chi-X. Although, holdings here are not CHESS sponsored. Held by Citi as their custody I believe.

        • I think CFDs match the market prices.

One of the shares I own has a bad spread (market depth).

          Highest Buy Offer: 100,000 @ 0.038
          Lowest Sell Offer: 34,547 @ 0.045

It would be annoying holding a CFD of that company, as it could be weeks or more before the spread meets your target buy/sell price. I don't mind the spread so much when holding the shares, as it's longer term.

Looks like it'll get you a one way flight to most destinations around Australia

  • How big is the minimum transaction amount?

    • +1

Via rep who called me after registration:

Minimum transaction is $90. But I think minimum deposit for credit card deposits are $450. I think a bpay/bank deposit would be fine for $90 (also factoring in the $8 x 2 buy/sell charge).

You are effectively getting 10,000 Qantas points for $16 +/- the value of the trade.

      • +1

Wow you can make a deposit via credit card? Time to take full advantage of those interest free offers then :P

  • I couldn't find anywhere it says minimum trade amount only minimum for deposits, which were $450 for cards and paypal but looks like Bpay doesn't have a limit nor bank transfers. Taken from site:

"The minimum funding amount for card and PayPal payments is $450 AUD, but there is no obligation to trade. There is no minimum funding amount for bank transfers."

I'm going to try deposit $50 and make a small order with that. See how I go, do we get any confirmation of when the Qantas points are credited? Or is there a certain amount of time before it is available?
Eg. Make 1 trade, hold for atleast 1 day, close trade, receive points.?

    • +2

Minimum trade is $90 + $16 in fees. That's what I was told on the phone.

      • Not sure if this article is current but I think you might find that the minimum purchase is $500 unless you already own some shares in the company (ie if you already hold shares in a company you can purchase smaller lots like $90 as indicated to you).
        http://www.thebull.com.au/experts/a/222-what-is-the-smallest…

Let us know how you get on.

        • Thanks, that's good info. I think it is current because the Commbank website says the same. I ended up transferring $500 but that still might not be enough when the initial $8 fee is deducted. Still waiting for the BPAY to come through but I might be able to test this today.

        • @dazweeja: I was able to purchase $90 worth of shares in a company I don't have any previous/current holdings in. Fingers crossed get the points tomorrow :)

        • @tdizzle:

Nice. I got my points after a few days so no complaints here.

    • Their hoping that you deposit and forget. After 2 years of inactivity $25/ month is deducted.

    • I can confirm that the minimum amount for 'share dealing/share trading'is $90.
After I Bpayed $50 in to account I tried buying shares and came up with "Rejected:minimum consideration $90"

Now im not sure if I can still go ahead with it once i put in the $40 but will update when I do. Referring to the minium shares $500

Is this offer for any trade regardless? As in my account I have 1 for CFD and 1 for share trading. When I Bpayed it went into my share trading account.

I've read t&c but doesn't make it clear for me.

      • The offer is only for share trading, not CFD, "Open a Share Trading account and place just one trade". Confirmed on the phone.

Also, I made a trade for $460 so $500 minimum does not apply. $8 fee is deducted immediately from my funds and I assume another $8 will be deducted immediately when I sell. You'll need at least another $8 on top of the $90 to buy but I guess the sell fee can come out of the realised funds.

        • Ok im gona Bpay the rest of the funds and make a trade under share trading. After that how will we know if the Qantas points is credited or confirmed? Apart from checking your qantas balance. Will IG send an email? Let us know if you got your points.

        • +1

          @Pandaboss:

As long as you associate your QFF number with your IG username here before the trade you should be right:

          https://www.ig.com/au/qantas-client-landing-page

I didn't get any emails and their terms say it might take up to 8 weeks to credit the points. Not a great process really.

  • How to even place an order? Whenever i click on trade, it just asks me for TFN but wont even give me the keyboard to enter numbers in

    • Are you using web platform or mobile?
Try mobile it might be easier.

      • Im using the app

Can we all pls come to a consensus on the safest stock to buy to meet the minimum requirements for the deal (both buying and selling off). I want to see how much ozbargain can affect the market lol.

    • ANZ, CBA, NAB, WBC.

      • +1

ok gonna sit back and watch the banking sector rise and fall….

        • +1

Even though we have huge buying power, we’d prob need to narrow it down to one stock. Interesting exercise. :)

        • @anna10:

How about Bendigo Bank (BEN)? You get shareholder discounts with any stock holding. In particular if you are looking to get some sign on points with their credit card offers you may be able to get a discounted annual fee.

I await a sudden spike in the price of BEN tomorrow as it gets ozbargained. :)

          cheers Peter

    • AAA. ETF holding cash in various high interest accounts, market makers will keep it at its net tangible asset value.

  • Does the referral link also work at the same time?

  • Can I use a referral and this offer together?

    • +1

Refer a friend only applies to CFD accounts. Be aware that there is a $25/month inactivity fee if you don't trade for 2 years.

  • I put an order for 10 BHP shares and they are still sitting there not filled, how long does it take for shares to be purchased? Or am I doing something wrong?

    • +1

There's three options for filling the shares - the first two are Limit orders which means you specify at what price you want to buy them at. Your order will only be filled if the Buy price hits that price. The third option is at Market, which will fill them at whatever the market is at that time. There's a little 'I' next to this part of form where it gives you more information about the selected option.

      • Thanks for the info, I have it set to Limit :) It will expire shortly so all good.

      • Are those 3 options available for all shares? Or only certain types?

As I have made a order to buy and only gives me the limit for day, quantity of shares. Using the android app.

I can't buy at market. I've even tried to set limit to the going rate and none of the order is filled just stays in working.

I applied on thursday, made my trade on friday. Received points Monday. Only took 1 business day.

      • Did you get the 10000 bonus as well or just the 25 per trade?

        • Yeah I got 10025, and then 25 again when I sold the shares

        • @link90:

I got mine too!! woooo Just did one trade. Still got 3 shares, but has cost me $8

    Mon 13 Nov 2017
    IG MARKETS QANTAS POINTS 08NOV17
    10,025

    • Yay. Glad to hear we have someone with the points!

      • I have only got the 25 points.

  • found the answer

  • Got 10,000 points today. Perhaps they are transferred on Mondays?

  • Can we please clarify, what is the min deposit and the min trade?
How do we take out funds out once rec'd the QF 10K+ points?

    • +1

Minimum trade is $90. I got an error message when trying to buy my shares in AFIC so called them up and it turns out I wasn't factoring in the $8 cost of trade. So make sure you don't type 90 in, type 98 or higher for whatever shares you buy.

Min deposit for you to BPay in to cover trade is 106. 90 for shares and 8 dollars fee when you buy and 8 dollars fee when you sell. Not sure how to sell yet as havent got QFF yet.

They were very helpful on the phone when I called up for a silly mistake.

  • Are people who buy and sell quickly straight after getting to 10K QF points OK?

    • To answer my Q, YES.

  • Do we have to close this account later, due to the inactivity fee, even if there's no money left in the account?

Just wondering if they have rights under law to get us to pay $25/month even if we don't have any money with them…

  • I have some share with another broker. Can I transfer those shares to IG, sell them and be considered as having done 1 trade? Can they deduc the $8 from the share value?

  • Anyone noticing credit enquiries show up in Equifax or similar? T&Cs mention they do a credit check.

  • Still haven't received my points :( Says it could take up to 8 weeks as they are doing it manually.

    • Haven't got mine either. Been 3 weeks.

      • Emailed them today, they said my FF# wasn't added to my account, so I guess this form isn't working (https://www.ig.com/au/qantas-client-landing-page). If you didn't get your points I suggest you email them to check. They will manually add your FF# to the account.
