PREZZY

I needed a new monitor and spent weeks researching in my spare time, paralysis analysis. So many reviews out there with many people advising to wait for new displays coming next year. However I needed something now, that was good enough but not too expensive to tide me over for the next year or two until spending $1000+ on a monitor is actually worthwhile. Seems alot of the current ones on the market suffer issues and are compromised in one way or another.

This one had consistently good reviews and is recommended at pcmonitors.info. They actually recommend the LG27UD68 which is even cheaper $574.20 with the coupon, but this is the newer version which is supposed to be very similar but a little better.

I ordered it yesterday around lunch and I received it today. Loving the 4K resolution everything looks very clear and crisp running off a Surface Pro 2017 at the moment.

Tempting, but I can't bring myself to spend this money on a monitor until they offer real HDR10. You are right that every monitor seems to be compromised in one way or another, not sure why they are so slow to catch up with the latest technologies and what people want.

    • HDR10 is broken anyway. So take your time.

      • Interesting, in what way?

I dont think windows 10 works well with it. Colours are all messed up etc. https://youtu.be/Caz8ThPBa60?t=3m57s LinusTT video where he speaks about it.

i cant deal with his voice, he sounds like the 10 year old that only hangs out the computer store.

    • Agreed. It seems TV tech is better because they're flying off shelves instead of PC monitors.

  • i bit the bullet and got a hisense 43 4k hdr from jb for just over 60

beat all the 4k pc monitors i played with under 1500

      Just over $60? Nice

      • 600 damn phonescreen

        • How does it go for use as a monitor on your desk for office applications and web browsing etc?

        • @jar-unit: fine so long as you dont have the backlight on 100 when hungover

That monitor has been $400 many times on eBay sales over the last 12 months, and proper stock, definitely not a limited amount. Just wait and it'll come up again soon.

  • Ran back light bleed test, any backlight bleed is almost indiscernable. Only with a phone camera can it be picked up, although perhaps that is just IPS glow. Ran calibration on it and very happy with the colours and picture.

    • What did you use for calibrration?
I've been considering picking up a spyder express to do my TV's and monitors (I own the UD69 already).

      • I am using a X-Rite ColorMunki Display. Does the job well

      • Hey mate, I have been working on this monitor connected to my Surface Pro all day today and have had a few times where the screen goes black for 1-2 seconds then comes back on. Not sure if it's the Surface or the Monitor. Have you had anything similar?

        • Nope not at all, mines be flawless for a couple months now.

        • @matthewk85:

Thanks. I am thinking it could be from the mini HDMI to DisplayPort cable - or something with the Surface Pro will try to get to the bottom of it. Cheers

          How'd you get on?
With the calibration you did, any specific changes you could recommend to improve the overall picture?

        • @matthewk85:

Hey mate got it all sorted. It was a Surface 2017 driver problem. I had been having issues with the Surface Freezing up as well at work. Updated to the latest Intel driver and it has been running flawlessly - very happy with this monitor.

          @jar-unit:

With regard to the calibration, the software does it all automatically. I could send you my calibration settings file, not sure how well it would pair with another monitor even though they are the same. so you can load it up if you want. send me a PM.
